Cristina is still dealing with her PTSD, which is not really surprising because what she had to do was incredibly difficult and stressful so it really is no surprise that she is having a hard time.

She’s afraid to be alone, so one night when Owen is working she pays her fellow dark and twisty friend a visit. Meredith invites her to sleep in her bed, Cristina declines at first because it is weird since Derek is sleeping in the same bed. Meredith tells her that he’s asleep and doesn’t mind.

The next day the surgeons are discussing with the trauma counselor what they should do with Cristina. Derek tells them to put her on his service and that he will take her under his wing. Webber wants to give her administrative work for a couple of months, Derek tells them that she won’t do that kind of work they can either put her on his service or he will leave as well. However Cristina does not even seem to care about her job anymore.

Derek’s newest case is brought to him by Amelia, his younger sister who is also a neurosurgeon. Derek is not at all pleased by her arrival at Seattle Grace Mercy West and wants her too leave immediately. However she’s stubborn and sticks around, asking him all kinds of questions about the shooting and insists on doing the surgery on the patient herself. Derek wants Cristina to work with him on the case but she freaks out and Amelia has to step in. Derek defends Cristina to his sister when she’s telling him what a dud she is. He takes it upon himself to find a way for Cristina to come back to being the surgeon she can be. He takes her into an OR and she performs the same surgery she did on him on a cadaver.

Meanwhile Webber is helping Alex to concur his fear of the elevator, ever since he came back to work he’s been taking the stairs. Webber has noticed it and he tells Alex that he wants him to get in the elevator and that the two of them will ride it until Alex feels bored.

The main case is a man who has massive warts covering his whole body, this affliction is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common infection that usually causes small warts to develop on sufferers. Due to a rare genetic fault the warts have grown and his hands are covered in what looks tree roots. Lexie freaks out when she sees him, before he even gets out of his car. Bailey is not at all amused by her reaction, and tells Lexie to apologize to the man and she will stay with the man all day.

Bailey has her own moment of weakness however when she cuts away a piece of the ‘roots’ that cover the man’s hands and a spider crawls out of the space that is created. She freaks and screams that someone should kill the spider, Lexie is the one who saves her of course she and the other residents have a good laugh about it later on.

Bailey, Teddy, Callie and Arizona deal with their situations in a different way they settle for drinking booze. Bailey tells the others that her fear of spiders is a phobia. Callie and Arizona are still finding a way to get Cristina and Owen out of their apartment. While Teddy tries to avoid the counselor, he however finds her.

Meredith and I usually don’t see eye to eye about things but now I have found one thing I certainly agree on, I am liking April more and more. I thought she was extremely annoying but this episode she set her peers straight and I have to applaud her for that. There is no shame in being a twenty eight year old virgin, there is no shame in being afraid of elevators, nightmares or spiders. I love how she steps up and tells Lexie that Mark doesn’t think that she’s crazy but that he can’t stop looking at her because he loves her.

Of course Mark Sloan wouldn’t be his ‘manwhore’ self if he didn’t choose the ‘new gal’ as his newest conquest. And yes of course he’s kissing her in his hallway when Lexie finally decides to find Mark to tell him that she still loves him. Damn!

I am so rooting for Lexie and Mark, I like them so much together and in my opinion they really are meant to be. I hope that they can both get their act together and see what’s right in front of them, preferably at the same time. Because now they are more or less taking turns.

People deal with trauma in different ways and I have to say that I personally like they way they are dealing with it. It’s like April said they all might be acting like nothing is different but they all have their own issues and they deal with it in their own manners whether it is running up the stairs or getting attached to the first guy who offers.

We’ll see what the next episode brings. In the meantime, leave your two cents below!

  1. Farrah says:

The only good thing for Mark doing whatever it did with Amelia is that it was a one time thing. She was a quick crossover from Private Practice and he knew she was vulnerable after fighting with Derek. She’s gone now and she’s also a dead ringer for Lexie which is the second obvious reason he chose to to quickly be with her. They’ll find their way back to each other, no doubt about it.

And I’m so happy to see Chief being Chief again. YAY.
