I have to admit that I loved this episode a little more than I should have, only because I hate to say that I liked seeing Sweets and the new Girl Friday take the reins. At first I wasn’t so sure of this Olivia Sparling, but she definitely worked out just fine.

As for the murder, the scene takes place in a parking garage where a guy is blown up from a bomb in a Big Gulp type drink. The sickie in me has to admit that when the intestine falls on Hodgins, I was a bit thrilled at the gore, yet gagging at the thought of it happening.

Caroline calls Booth to the office and offers him the chance to do the expense report with the hopes that he would get a promotion to a desk job and a raise. Now that Booth is a dad, it is only natural to think of a more stable position and money to provide for the family, even though we know this type of job will never work…but let’s just go with it and make the writers happy.

This gives Sweetpea (as Caroline calls him) the opportunity to work with a new gal, Agent Olivia Sparling. At first she seemed a bit hard, and emotionless and she thought our boy Sweetpea was just another shrink and didn’t belong in the field…sound like someone else we know? But he wins her over when he uses his theory that twins are very similar even when they grow up apart from each other. They even married similar women that ruled the roost.

Girl Friday admits she feels apologetic in the car and tells him how impressed she is. This whole scene made me feel like I was watching another Booth and Bones. I think Sweetie just had his ego boosted and he liked it. But as usual, it is Angela that lays it all out to Sweets and makes him feel a bit uncomfortable as she brings up the idea of men and women who work closely together will have some sort of sexual attraction to each other. He denies it, but in the end…well, we all saw the smile after the kiss.

Sweetpea and his Girl Friday figure out that the wife is the one who hired a hit man and he got the wrong twin. They figure out where the final hit is going down and take off after him along with Booth who just so happened to leave the expense report in the hands of Cam. At the showdown, it is Sweetpea that is the hero as he plays the part of innocent bystander to grab the bomb but ends up with a non fatal wound from Sparling’s shot. She feels bad for shooting him, but he is not angry. He tells her he is in a serious relationship but she kisses him anyhow…let’s see how much longer Daisy is around.

Favorite Fun Moments: Hodgings blowing up dummy head and body and Bones enjoying it as much as him.
Booth deputize Cam so she could work with him on report. He makes a sign of the cross and flick of the wrist and Bazinga, she is ready!

What did you think, did you like Agent Olivia? Did you like seeing Sweets and her run the case this week? I did. Leave me your thoughts…

This bonus episode was okay not near as good as the first two episodes from this season. I usually watch them again right away but this one I didn’t watch again or again for that matter. It was to showcase supporting character Sweets and that’s fine just not as interested when it doesn’t have a lot of Bones & Booth together. I didn’t buy the chemistry they were trying to make me feel with the new agent and Sweets he has more chemistry by far with Daisy and Daisy is over the top obnoxious. I think they should bring Agent Shaw back she met up with Sweets in season 6 near the end of the season and I found they had a lot more chemistry and they weren’t even supposed to. Best scenes for me were Bones and Booth talking about the baby stroller and Angela teasing Sweets, Jack & Bones testing the fake dummy for impact. Bones watching Booth try to convince himself he wants a desk job and the ending scene where Booth tells Bones Christine would love a BBQ grill & a new tool box! Looking forward to next week’s episode where we are back to Bones & Booth front and center and with wild animals looks promising.

      Pam nailed it.

Thanks for visiting Pam! I have to admit the talking about the stroller in the car was a fun scene and very different to see Bones pouting and learning how to play Booth like I am sure the daughter is…has daddy wrapped around her finger.
Like I said, I still liked seeing Sweets showcased, I have always liked his character and glad he got more screen time. B & B will be back as always …as we like them. Booth needs to get over the fact she makes more money than he and just take the gifts…isn’t marriage about sharing all the money?

There were a great many scenes in this episode that were solid and well done. I absolutely love Hodgins and his sense of humor as to what is fun. The body was truly gross and disgusting which is good for BONES. The stroller topic was delightful as it shows that they are working together on being a couple. It is nice to see them banter about day to day things. Brennan’s new manipulation is fantastic. She knows him so well and she needs to try this more often. I agree Booth needs to get over the money thing. He has always had a problem with it and he wouldn’t be true to his character without it, but if she wants to buy a $800 stroller, let her. It’s her money and yes they share but….honestly she can afford it and he needs to lighten up. Seeing Sweets with a new agent was really a good step forward and it was nice to see that he could interact and be an agent on his own. The experiment was really awesome way to showcase that Bones can have fun with science. Even Cam enjoyed it.

Our resident attorney – Sheri – is always delightful and adds that spice to spur Booth on. She really adds to the story. The case itself was really interesting and creepy.
The twins storyline worked and kept the interest high. The humor was really great in this episode also. I loved the ending with B&B and the way Booth picks at his food. DB is so good at the subtle clues to Booth. Great episode and fun to watch.

Seems to me Booth has already “lightened up” in regards to money, but it wont be long before Christine tries to manipulate her parents. They need to come to an agreement over money, at least over Christine, there is more to raising children that seeing which parent can give them better gifts.

I have to say that I did agree with Booth when he said “That’s what rich people say” when Bones says “it’s just money”. I think (esp in today’s economy) that that line hit a cord with many people. I had to agree with Booth that spending $800 on a stroller is a bit extreme. IMO

  3. Sky Lark says:

Same reaction as Pam, it was an ok ep, nothing more, B & B scenes were nice after last week’s angst, but does that mean their issues are settled. Dont think so, just confusing to the storyline imo. why does Sweets have to pick such aggressive females and agree that Shaw is a much better fit personality wise.

  4. Definitely imagine that that you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be at the net the simplest factor to take note of. I say to you, I certainly get irked even as folks consider concerns that they just don’t recognize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
