In this week’s episode, the gang gathers at the Offshore for a Christmas party with special guests Tegan & Sara. Naomi devices a plot to get Max his old job back and finds out a shocking secret about Alec. Meanwhile, Liam gets wrapped up in an extortion plot and Teddy tells something to Silver that could change both their lives.

What shocking cliffhangers are we left with for this year’s mid-season finale? Read on for this week’s character breakdown.

Naomi– Max has been depressed since he lost his job, so, since Naomi blames herself, Naomi plans on getting Max a huge present. When she returns home, she sees Max and Alec talking. After Naomi tells Alec to get out, Alec apologizes for everything he did. Max tells Naomi that Alec came up with an idea to start a new company. Naomi suggests that she should talk to Bryce again, and Max tells her to, respectfully, stay out of it. Naomi goes to see Bryce and finds her boyfriend breaking up with her on the phone. Bryce tells her that someone was out to get Max, and there was nothing she could do. Naomi decides to get Navid to ask Bryce out, so he can find some details about Max’s saboteur. After Max tells Naomi he’s basically been blacklisted in Silicon, he tells her he now has nothing and no one but her. Later, Navid’s date with Bryce starts out awkward, but after a few martinis Bryce spills the beans about Max’s saboteur.

Bryce tells Navid that Alec told her what to say in her interview with Max, and had her promise him she would fire Max once she got the job. She also mentions that she tried to get with Alec for 2 years, but he never wanted to be more than friends. After Navid tells Naomi about this, Naomi goes to Alec’s place to confront him. He tells her he has no idea what she’s talking about. After Naomi says he’s been acting like a jealous ex-girlfriend, Naomi realizes that Alec is in love with Max. After Alec tells her not to tell anyone, he explains that he knows that he & Max could never be more than friends, but he didn’t want to lose him. Naomi says she won’t tell Max and leaves. When she comes home, she finds a letter from Max saying that he went to a conference in Iceland and that he needs to think

Liam– After Liam invites Ashley to the offshore Christmas party, he sees an envelope addressed to him and finds a pic of his old balcony and a demand of $500,000 on Friday night. Liam tells Annie about this, and she offers to pay the $500,000. She also says she’ll stay and videotape the drop off so they can see who’s behind it. Adrianna sees Vanessa at the salon and tells Ashley to tell Liam she’s in town. She also tells Vanessa’s entire story to Ashley. Liam gets pulled over on his way to the drop off, and it turns out the cop who pulled him over is Ashley. She says she can’t let him see Vanessa and arrests him. Ashley takes him to some parking garage and tells him she needs to keep him safe. Liam tells her he needs to go to her, and Ashley says she can’t let him do that. Ashley then stabs a needle in Liam’s leg. Liam wakes up in a basement with footage from the bar being shown on monitors facing him.

Silver– Silver needs Teddy to sign a release relinquishing his rights before her IVF transfer. When Silver meets with him, he tells her he doesn’t want to sign the papers and wants to be the child’s father. He says he doesn’t have to be a bad father like his dad was, and asks Silver if they can do this together. Silver tells him this wasn’t part of the plan, and Teddy asks her to think about it. When Silver goes to ask Naomi for advice, Naomi tells her that she needs to tell Teddy he can’t be involved. At the Christmas party, Silver tells Teddy she wants to do this alone and she doesn’t want to complicate her child’s life. When Teddy mentions that it’s their baby, Silver tells him that it’s not his. Shane asks Silver how she could do that to Teddy, and Silver tells him everything was going fine until he showed up. Shane tells Silver that unless she wants to take this seriously, he & Teddy are taking her to court.

Dixon/Adrianna– Dixon tells Riley he’s thinking of getting his friend from therapy, Megan, a gift, and says she’s just a friend. Meanwhile, Ade keeps on getting contractual obligations texts from Dixon. Ade decides to give him a gift she got him months ago as a peace offering. Later, Dixon invites Megan to the offshore. She tells him she can’t go because it’s the 1st Christmas without her dad. When Dixon goes to see Riley, he tells him that he needs to tell Megan about the accident. At the offshore, Dixon reveals to Riley & Annie that he doesn’t need his crutches anymore. Later, Ade gives her gift to Dixon, and he hands it back to her. Afterwards, Megan shows up at Dixon’s and tells him that he’s the only thing that makes her happy. He proceeds to tell her about the accident. She proceeds to kiss him.

Annie-After Annie tells the girls she’s not sure about her future with Riley, she announces that she has decided that she wants to be a writer. She’s contemplating going to Scotland for 2 years to work on a degree. Why Scotland? Your guess is as good as mine. Anyways, Riley mentions to Dixon that he wants to prove to Annie that he’s in it for the long haul. After Annie does a commercial for the surface tablet, she tells him about Scotland. Riley gives her the gift back and leaves. After Liam compares her situation to when he left on the fishing boat, Liam tells Annie about his situation. Later, Annie admits that to Riley that she should have told him about Scotland sooner. Riley also mentions to her that he’s taking their relationship very seriously. After Dixon reveals that he can walk normally again, Riley calls his doctor and tells him he’s going to go through with the very risky spinal surgery. Meanwhile, Annie runs into Vanessa, and the two team up to try to find Liam.

You guys, this show is so frustratingly annoying and repetitive that I don’t even know where to start. I guess we can start with how stupid it is that they brought back Teddy for a custody battle. We can also discuss how stupid Liam is. How does someone who has already been through one insane stalker not realize that they’re being stalked again? It’s utterly ridiculous. I’m also really disappointed in Naomi’s storyline. The back and forth of Max leaving, then coming back, has been dragging on for what seems like seasons now and it’s just terrible. Naomi should just be single and fun instead of being thrust into marriage exercises and corporate takeover plots. Also, the Surface product placement was laughably terrible. Subtle, it was not. Lastly, can we thank Tegan & Sara for blessing this terrible show with their lovely presence? What did you guys think of the episode? Leave your TwoCents in the comments below!
