Last week, we learned more about Emily and Aiden’s relationship and this history surrounding it. We also learned a bit more about the David Clarke relationship with NolCorp and Nolan’s apparent history of becoming involved with his CFO’s. We met Marco, the CFO that guided NolCorp into its transition to a public company. When Marco found that an offshore account that NolCorp held had been drained (and did not understand Nolan’s explanation), Nolan fired Marco.

Victoria and Conrad are trying to ensure that the board votes in Conrad’s favor, so that Daniel is not in further danger from the Initiative. One of the hold outs is Salvador and Victoria and Conrad try to figure out the best way to get him to vote in their favor. At the same time, Aiden and Emily are coming up with their own plan to get Salvador to vote in Daniel’s favor. Seeing Aiden and Emily together after they have become intimate again is really getting interesting. They are very affectionate and tactile with each other – hugging and kissing in public. It actually seemed a little much to me. I didn’t think it would be that easy for Emily to break down some of the walls she had built.

When Nolan and Padma meet with Daniel to discuss the acquisition of NolCorp, they find that Daniel has hired Marco. Daniel uses this to his advantage. He threatens to report NolCorp for criminal activity (emptying the off shore bank account) if Nolan does not give Grayson Global a 51% (controlling stake) in NolCorp. Nolan reluctantly agrees and later tells Padma that he has his own plan at work and that it will be easier to bring down Grayson Global from the inside.

Emily and Aiden realize that Ashley is trying to turn Daniel against Aiden. They decide that they have to turn Daniel against her instead. Emily anonymously sends Victoria a video of Ashley and Conrad having a sexual encounter. Now, this is more like the old Emily! Victoria confronts Ashley about the video and promises to keep things quiet if Ashley pays Salvador a visit in his hotel room. Ashley agrees to do so. This was extremely interesting, given what we learned about her background last week.

We learn that the Ryan brothers (Nate and Kenny) who have invested in Jack’s bar are the children of a man whose murder was covered up by Jack’s father. The man who killed their father (Matt Duncan) comes to Carl’s baptism and warns Jack to not do business with the Ryan’s because they are dangerous. Later, Declan and Charlotte find Matt badly beaten outside the bar.

Aiden calls Daniel and asks him to meet him at a hotel (which turns out to be the same as Salvador’s hotel – part of Aiden’s plan). Aiden tells Daniel that Ashley is in the hotel with Salvador and brings Daniel to Salvador’s room, where he storms in and confronts them. Daniel takes an incriminating photo of Salvador and Ashley and threatens send the photo to Salvador’s wife if he doesn’t vote in Daniel’s favor.
The board meets and votes that Daniel should be the new Grayson Global. Though Aiden was hoping he would be able to get a position on the board, Daniel informs him that the board decided that they will not allow any new members until the merger with NolCorp is complete.

One of my favorite moments of this episode occurs near the end of the episode. Victoria and Conrad are discussing the board’s vote. Conrad agrees that Victoria was right in not telling Daniel about their re-involvement with the Initiative and that he thinks Daniel will drive the company into the ground, so that it will be the detriment of the Initiative. Victoria slaps Conrad. He asks what that was for and she replies “Take your pick” and Walks away. I loved this moment. It is classic Victoria!

The show ends with Ashley leaving the Grayson manor. At the same time, the Grayson’s security system is being replaced. In his office, Daniel has received a mysterious gift of a clock. We see that it has a camera in it when we see members of the Initiative sitting in a room, watching Daniel. The members of the Initiative then take a vote on a measure about Daniel. Finally, Victoria calls Emily to talk about Daniel. When she sees that Aiden is at Emily’s house, Victoria tells her to call back when she is alone. Emily sees this as now having leverage over Victoria.

What did you think about this episode? Do you think Aiden and Emily’s PDA was a bit too much? Do you think Daniel has to worry about the Initiative? Any thoughts on what they were voting on? How do you feel about Marco? Does anyone think that he and Padma have some sort of connection? Please let me know your thoughts!

Agreed on the PDA. Also, Victoria slapping Conrad was a great moment. The best was Nolan, though, when Aiden kissed Emily good-bye and Nolan pointed to his own cheek like he wanted a kiss, too. Looks like we’re not the only ones who find the PDA over the top. 😀

As for the Initiative – what exactly do they do, anyway? That’s what’s bothering me the most – now knowing what on earth they actually want (apart from the usual money and power:)
Also, the Stowaway plot is interrupting the flow. I just find it annoying. But hey, Declan seems to have been more sensible here than Jack for a change. Am I the only one who stopped caring for Jack?

Ashley’s storyline was interesting. Although she pretty much brought everything onto herself, I pitied her a little. And Daniel got over her pretty quickly – even directing his feelings back to Emily, apparently forgetting that she cheated on him, too. (Is he related to Glee’s Finn Hudson?)

HAHA! Yes! I totally forgot about Nolan leaning in for a kiss. That’s so typical Nolan that I forgot to mention it. I loved it!

I agree on the Initiative. WHO are they? What are they doing? What is their ultimate goal? It is getting a little annoying because we haven’t been given much information about them and yet, they play a major plot point in the show. I hope they give us some more soon.

The Stowaway plot is also annoying me. I actually stopped caring for Jack a bit when he decided to stay with Amanda. How can he be happy with her??? So, you are definitely not the only one!

I did feel a bit bad for Ashley, too. Daniel did get over that quickly, although, I don’t think he was every over Emily. I think Ashley was just a convenience and a distraction for him. And yes, he is very similar to Finn in terms of forgetting that Emily had cheated on him. Thanks, as always for the great comments and thoughts!

I definitely think there is a connection between Padma and Marco… since we know she was sneaking around a while back, trying to get info about David Clarke… and as we know, Marco knows something too, just not exactly what, yet. In the previews for the next episode, come January, it appears that Daniel and Emily are again getting cozy. Don’t know what becomes of Aiden, in that event!? Daniel is really not too bright, he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into, regarding the ‘Initiative’… what a wuss he is anyway!! So what becomes of Ashley now? She’s more or less out… at least with all the Grayson clan. Not so sure that Nolan should be telling Padma so much of whatever his plan is… I think that is a mistake. She is definitely not as pure as the driven snow… and there is more to come out about her, I’m sure. I was right last week, when I said that the Ryan brothers were connected to the guy who was shot on the wharf in last week’s flashback episode. He WAS their father! And that’s why they wormed their way into semi-taking over Jack’s bar!! For once, I figured something out ahead of time! Still want Emily and Jack together. That may or may not ever happen, we’ve got a long way to go, unless there is no 3rd season and in that event, maybe they’ll get them together before the end of the series. I can’t figure out what the ‘Initiative’ was voting on about Daniel, but they’re obviously going to be ‘watching him’ via the clock. They may have been voting on whether they think he will work out and if he can be easily manipulated or not. I simply don’t think Daniel is qualified for this CEO job of Grayson’s company. Just my humble opinions! Wish we didn’t have to wait over a month to see the next episode. They’re doing that with several series I’m watching this fall…

The possibility of Padma and Marco being connected scares me a bit, because Nolan is my favorite character. When he was telling Padma that he has a plan, I was like “Shut up, Nolan! You can’t trust her!” But, maybe that was part of his plan??

I have a feeling Ashley will show up in another way. Not sure yet, but I don’t think she will stay gone.

Yes, you were right about the Ryan brothers! Good call! I would ultimately like to see Emily and Jack together, given that Jack starts acting like Jack again. He’s been kind of “checked out” lately, I think.

I agree that Daniel isn’t qualified. It will be interested to see what happens. I know, I’m not thrilled we have to wait a month, either. But, the one plus is that I’ll be able to catch up on some shows that I haven’t even started this season yet! 🙂

I think, at least thus far, that Jack is an ethical guy, so therefore he would stick with Fauxmanda because of his responsibility to the baby. And the one reason I was disappointed that the paternity test did show him to be the father… because that seems to positively prevent him and Emily ever getting together. That pretty much clinched it… at least it would seem so. I seriously do not want Emily and Daniel back together… but from the previews for next episode in January, it looks like that is coming to pass. :o(

        • ttckeithg says:

You are right about Jack. He is that kind of guy. There is still part of me that hopes that maybe Jack really isn’t the father. That Emily is holding something back more about that. Not sure why that would be, though, or what it could be, but there’s always a bit of hope! 😉

I don’t want Emily and Daniel back together, either. I’m actually starting to like Aiden a bit, so if she can’t be with Jack……

          • oirish44 says:

I hope you’re on to something here with Jack, the paternity, and Emily… She did do a ‘flip flop’ on that in the beginning, which was really an odd storyline to begin with… I didn’t see the point at the time, at all. So maybe she’ll do another flip flop on this later?? The initial flip flop on who was the father seemed weird, and seemed like ‘filling time’ or something, just didn’t make sense in the series… maybe it would in real life, but for the series storyline… just didn’t make sense. So, there’s still hope that Jack isn’t the father?? I’m beginning to think these writers don’t plan far in advance, and just pop things in as they go along. Like that silly scenario with that journalist/author, can’t remember his name right now… but suddenly he’s off to jail… Yikes that was really a dumb one! Oh and also with Ashley, it doesn’t seem likely she’ll be written out, as she’s been a strong character… so it will be interesting to try to guess who she’s going to hang with next… maybe Amanda? or perhaps, Padma and Marco???

            • ttckeithg says:

Just my theory, but I’d love for it to be true. Maybe the writers are reading this and will listen to our thoughts? LOL.

It does seem like the writers are winging it this year. I’m hoping that things will improve in the new year and be a little easier to understand. Ashley and Amanda would be an interesting mix. But, I really like the thought of her with Padma and Marco. That would probably be a crazy relationship!!!
