CBS’ How to Be a Gentleman premiered last night after The Big Bang Theory.

I hope it enjoys it’s hit show lead-in, but it might do better partnered with 2 Broke Girls CBS’s other freshman Odd Couple comedy.

We meet the cast of characters:

David Hornsby as Andrew Carlson who we’ll call the Gentleman. He’s a writer for a fancy GQ-type magazine. The company has just been bought out and the new owners are revamping the magazine into a Maxim type lady mag.

Kevin Dillon as Bert Lansing – we’ll be referring to his character as Johnny Drama. He’s the Gentleman’s high school classmate/bully, personal trainer and muse.

Dave Foley plays the Gentleman’s boss. He’s called Jerry on the program, but let’s just call him Dave. He’s the 50-ish editor of the magazine who decides to roll with the new owners vision for the magazine in order to save his job.

Mary Lynn Rajskub as Janet. We’ll call her Chloe. She’s the Gentleman’s sister. She’s married to the wacky Mike – played by The Flight of the Conchords’ Rhys Darby who we’ll call Murray.

Rounding out the cast is Nancy Lenehan from the brilliant-but-cancelled Worst Week and a host of other shows. We’ll just call her “mom.”

So there you have it. Hopefully much hilarity will ensue as the Gentleman adapts to the new, younger, manly, sexier style of his magazine with the help of his old high school bully Johnny Drama. Mary Lynn Rajskub’s sister character is pretty good but hopefully Dave Foley and Rhys Darby characters (Dave & Murray) will become the breakouts. They provide all of the laughs in the pilot.
