Cyrus (Donal Logue) is a refrigerator repairman turned multi-millionaire thanks to his lottery winnings. He  knocks on a woman’s door with flowers in his hand. He’s looking for Jennifer Williams, a girl he knew 20 years ago from the Jersey Shore. He’s there in a limo and brought tons of flowers. His cousin is the limo driver and gives him guff about his fool’s errand but then Cyrus falls to the ground saying he can’t move his leg.

Cuddy’s mom is suing the hospital due to her treatment while a patient there.  If you’ll remember, House nearly killed her and replaced her hip without her consent.  Cuddy and her mom had an argument and now Momma is suing.  Cuddy asks House to attend the meeting and behave himself. Cuddy also won’t let House treat his patient until he agrees to attend the sit down. So while they’re telling Cyrus they’re kicking him out of the hospital only to readmit him, Jennifer Williams shows up because she heard about Cyrus’s lottery winnings on the news and wanted to see him. Cyrus says hello by promptly puking on her. Rico suave, dude.

Chase and Foreman have a little thing going where Chase has sworn off sex and challenges Foreman to get through a differential without getting angry. House eggs Foreman on but he holds steady, except House unplugs the blood pressure cuff leads. I’m not sure what the point of all this is so I’m just going to let it go.

House asks Wilson why he hasn’t been berating him about the thing with Cuddy. Wilson says he agrees with House. House figures out that the reason Cuddy made such a big deal about it is because she really doesn’t want House there. Arlene wants $30k for pain and suffering, by the way. House busts in the meeting and suggests that they go ahead and put Arlene’s old hip back in right there in the meeting room. Arlene says that if House won’t take this seriously she knows some judges who will. Cuddy facepalms.

Cyrus has a tumor on his pancreas, one on his kidney, and one on his colon. They’re all different so that means he has three different types of cancer. House wants to give him more cancer in order to figure out what the three cancers he have actually are. Before he signs the consent forms he asks Jennifer to marry him. She turns him down. Thirteen wants to know why, if Jennifer only came to visit for one night, she has different clothes every day. Thirteen is highly suspicious of this Jennifer person and House thinks it has something to do with Thirteen’s rather diminished lifespan. Frankly, I’m with Thirteen on this one.

Wilson gets Cuddy and House together and tells Cuddy she’s going to go to her mother’s, write her a check, and make amends. House is going to apologize to Arlene. If House doesn’t comply, Wilson will tell the pharmacy to stop issuing Vicodin under his name. I like bossy Wilson. When they follow through with the plan, Arlene complains that the $30k doesn’t cover the lawyers and the money she’ll need to change her will so that Cuddy won’t get a dime when she dies. Cuddy snaps back at her and Arlene rips up the check.

Cyrus’s treatment isn’t working and since he doesn’t have a will, he gives his best friend a check for 10 million bucks. Jennifer watches and gets all teary. Thirteen notices asks her why she’s wearing contacts when she’s wearing glasses also. Jennifer says she likes to wear tinted contacts to change things up. Cyrus figures out that she’s not really Jennifer and that his friend and this woman are scamming him. Then Cyrus crashes.

After Arlene gets half the hospital shut down, House figures out that Arlene’s real motive was to get House and Cuddy back together. Arlene admits this and says that House and Cuddy are both so messed up that they need to be together. Can’t argue with that. House assures her they will not be getting back together. He’s married after all.

House figures out that Cyrus has a teratoma and he’s going to live. Later during the end montage, the real Jennifer shows up. Thirteen says that it’s great for Cyrus because as long as he’s hopeful, he’ll always be happy. House tells Thirteen her fatalism is her defense mechanism. Thirteen asks what House’s is. She says we are who we are and lotteries are stupid. I agree.

This episode was a bit predictable and slightly boring. Donal Logue was great considering the little he had to work with. I don’t really like the way they’re making Thirteen out to be the only one of the group that knows anything. She is not the missing link. I also hope this is the last we see of Cuddy’s mom. I can’t stand her but I suppose that’s the point. What’d you think of the show? Leave a comment with your two cents!

  1. Patricia Morris Buckley says:

Loved seeing Megan Follows again. She looks different as she ages, so maybe she can leave Anne of Green Gables behind.

  2. Shannon says:

Oh my gosh, that was totally Megan Follows! I didn’t even recognize her! I feel stupid, I should have known that was her. I am a huge fan of all things “Anne”. I can’t believe I missed that.
