I must admit that I was pretty anxious to see this episode after reading all the hoopla about it on my Twitter feed. I knew this episode was going to be about Bonesy seeing herself in the case of the doctor that died and nobody in her life to really care. But it was much more than just that. We were able to see her recognize the feelings and emotions that she has spent her life ignoring or bottled up, let loose and free as she becomes re-born if you will.

Now let me just say this, at first when she saw herself in the photo and Booth didn’t recognize her, I was like … “say whaaat?” Thinking that maybe this was going to be a damn dream sequence or something. Then, believe it or not, it was my husband’s words of “she is seeing what she wants to see”…then I realized how much she was over identifying with the victim and nobody else was.
Bonesy got “scary” involved in this case as she sorted out her victims life and hers. We were able to see Temp in the same light as the victim Lauren. Hell, she was even carrying on conversations with the deceased thru the CD player. Lauren had a pilot-friend that really liked her and there was much sexual tension, but she let him go. She had no husband and no kids.

To me, this was a lot like the Scrooge story: Look Bonesy, this is how your life is right now and where it is going to end up if things don’t change. So if you don’t want to end up as someone nobody is going to notice if you die, then you better start changing your ways. And she does, but instead of buying the big turkey for dinner, she tells Booth how sorry she is that she didn’t take the chance and love him back.
The security guard was more like the ghosts that visit Scrooge and shed light on her and make her realize that life could be better if she just let the universe in and embrace the little moments.

Now, like a lot of you, we want Booth to say, “About time, let me call Hannah and tell her I won’t be home and that I will be spending tonight and every other night with you.” But that is not going to happen and quite frankly I don’t want Booth to be that person. We all know he still loves her, why else would he be following her to the bad neighborhood in the middle of the night? But Booth is an honorable man and he fell in love with Hannah and we don’t want him to drop her like a hot potato or become a cheatin fool. We all know that when Booth offers to call someone that can stay with her , we know that she only wants him to stay with her. We are going to have to wait and trust the writers that eventually, somehow..they will get together and it will be done right.

I loved how Sweets was so concerned over Bones and then explained to her that she is one of his closest friends and that she is not alone like the victim, Lauren.
I also liked how Bones made the pilot feel good by telling him that Lauren should have given him the chance and she had nothing to lose. She is tapping into the emotional side of the brain and we are happy.

What did you think of the episode? Are you mad at Booth for not taking her into his arms? Or were you glad he stuck to his guns and stayed true to Hannah? Did you like the more emotionally free Bones? Leave me a comment.

There are hard truths that people come to, but do they change that person? The emotional awakening of Brennan is still a story to be written– this is merely a first step. The next step for her is to take that chance again with someone who understands and wants a woman who comes to emotional honesty slowly but comes to it honestly.

I thought of “It’s A Wonderful Life” for Brennan rather than of Ebeneezer Scrooge’s awakening, but the idea is the same– to open up her eyes to the truth of her life.

The episode was devastatingly beautiful. I know many people will quibble about Micah’s presence and question Brennan’s leaps of logic (she’s done that before), but the outcome is key– her world had to be turned upside down for her to see herself.

I almost get a sense that while there might be some residual awkwardness between Booth and Brennan, this might be the best thing for both of them– they know they’ve missed their chance, and they know that the other cared enough to expose the essence of their heart, but they know where they finally stand with each other.

What changes will Brennan show in the coming shows as she navigates this new truth? Will this revelation have any effect on Booth?

It is easy to hope that Booth, too, will be changed by Brennan’s confession. It’s amazing how viewers sees Booth as cold and others are positive that he is madly in love with Brennan still and will eventually realize that. But just as the episode shows, it’s much too easy to see what we want to see; it is much harder to see the truth.

At first, I too, thought of It’s A Wonderful Life… But since it wasn’t about if she never existed, but more of a “you need to change some of you ways” that made me shift to Scrooge.

I was happy Booth was true to Hannah – it’s a reflection of his character and it wouldn’t have felt right if he’d dumped Hannah for Bones like that. Though I’m getting a sense that this’ll all come to a head towards the end of the season…the timing of this just seems to fit with the idea of them getting together in the finale or thereabouts. Though perhaps I’m being overly optimistic xD

I guess we will have to wait and see if they put our B& B back together again, or if it is just better this way… Hmmm I have been disappointed before, like I said with Ugly Betty. I hold hope though.

As much as I want Booth and Brennan to be together, I am kind of glad he didn’t just say “Oh that’s great, I’ll dump Hannah, and then we’ll get together.” When, or if, B&B get together, I think there has to be more of a build up then just Brennan spilling out her feelings. Most likely Hannah will be gone near the end of the season. But knowing how much Booth apparently “loves” Hannah, he’ll probably delude himself into thinking that he had a huge loss and lock himself in his apartment for 3 days. The possibly, when he’s over that he’ll finally realize what he’s been missing out on with Brennan and most likely, during the season finale, we’ll see a big devolpmet, something happen between them, or they’ll get together. If not, well bones just lost a lot of viewers.
