Owen has a Cancer patient with a huge tumor and Richard wants a chance at it but he and Owen seem to get a little competitive while comparing possible strategies- Derek steps in and he will pick a winner. Another patient comes in who is missing a right lung and having issues breathing- and apparently his heart has drifted down to his kidney. Ewwww. They suggest giving him basically “breast implants” to fill the gap- and the guy is not too impressed with this idea. The cancer patient doesn’t really want surgery she just wants to live a month to see her daughter gets married but if she doesn’t have the surgery she may not live that long anyway. She opts for the surgery. And Richard is going to do it.

Miranda’s crush is making her dinner tonight and Callie basically asks if she’s ready for sex. She’s a little shocked but I think she is into the idea given the advice she asks Callie for. Another little boy comes in and something is wrong with him. Mark kind of hits on Teddy a little bit but she turns him down but after a little pep talk from Arizona she agrees maybe a little nookie would be good. She suggests they “go out” and Mark thinks she means dinner, and then when she finds out he wants to talk her out to talk (and not hook up) she turns him donw- again. HAHA. Awesome. Come on, Mark, hit it!! 😀

Apparently the mom hugged her little boy so hard she ruptured a cyst and now they have to operate on him. Kinda weird but OK. Miranda is freaking out about whether or not she is prepared to have the sex (and she chickened out on waxing her “surgical area” wink wink kinda gross man you gotta womanscape). Meanwhile, Richard and Owen present their plans to Derek and he picks Owen. The Cancer patient is reluctant to have any surgery but Richard and her husband convince her to try- for her daughter and for the chance of grandchildren and stuff. Miranda pages Callie because she needs to know if she should bring condoms- Callie says yes- and then Miranda asks if Callie can get them for her, too! Haha!

Mark operates on the guy whose heart drifted and that went well. And the little boy with the ruptured cyst did OK, too. The Cancer surgery begins and Owen starts paging Richard in a semi-panic. Something is obviously going wrong. They decide to take out her liver, work on that and the tumor, and then I guess replace the liver? Crazy! But it apparently works. I guess everyone got lucky on Grey’s today! I remember when people actually died on this show. I’m just saying it seems to be a little more predictable these days.

Callie and Arizona are chatting about how good things are going and Arizona drops the bomb that she does NOT want to have kids- in spite of working in peds. And Callie seems upset about this. Oh, Arizona wants chickens, too. Chicks?! Okkkk. Mark gives Teddy another chance after she asks her out again. But he’s all “I want a wife” crazy these days when he could have gotten some hot loving. Man this show is topsy turvey these days!

Moment of truth… Miranda is at the guys house for dinner and they are chatting randomly and then she goes into a little diatribe about not playing by anyone’s rules or following timelines, etc. She is kind of psycho. But random guy seems to mellow her out nicely. LOL. And then BOOOOOOM there is the first kiss for these two. Lexi- who has been pretending she’s over Mark- is super upset that he’s moving on. She has a little cry with Meredith in the bathroom. That turns into kind of a breakdown. Don’t worry, Lexi, I’ll be your man!

What do you think, readers? Good episode? Bad episode? What do you want to see happen for the rest of this season?

I loved, LOVED, this episode. I remember last year (or was it two years ago) there was a point where every week one patient died and one lived, and then when Mer/Der were doing those trials everyone died. It was nice to see everyone make it out okay and Richard to get his confidence back and feel needed.

And Bailey?? We’ve never seen her this vulnerable before and I just love it. It was an honest and true conversation and I like how he mellows her out and makes her talk to/with him and not AT him. They are a good match.

And as for Lexie, oh we’ve all been there. Not necessarily on a bathroom floor of a hospital, but we’ve had those “he moved on and I haven’t…I still had hope, what happened?” cries before. And for it to happen in front of Mer…and for her to not what to do really and just stand there..ah, loved it.

Okay, I just wrote this all on my BB and my thumbs hurt. Hehe. Nice recap!

I too loved the Bailey scenes. From the woman who brough t us va-jay-jay, it was completely in character. And I think a desire to be au-natural is completely in line with her character.
