After an Olympic induced hiatus from programming, we are back with an all new episode! I missed study group and found myself with a craving only satisfied by following Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Don Glover, Joel McHale, and Yvette Nicole Brown on Twitter. It SO is good for something!

Britta cannot say ‘bagel’ right. She actually pronounces it BAG-EL, and as the group makes fun of her, Troy opens his Spanish book to find a drawing of Abed inside, surrounded by hearts. The book used to belong to a girl named Jenny, and even though he’s apathetic about it, the rest of the group really feels that he should pursue her. Abed explains that they want to ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ me.’ Jeff however tells him to be himself, because every after school special says that’s the lesson you should learn.

In the commons area, the group finds Jenny, and Shirley is shocked to see that she’s actually pretty. He says that he would never approach her as him, but there is a version of himself who would: a vampire. The group rescues him from that situation and decides he can NOT approach her without a makeover first. They do some role playing in which he has some pretty awesome pick up lines while he is Don Draper from Mad Men. “Don’t be like him! He cheats on his wife!” I love this shout out to Alison Brie’s normal gig!

Abed is great at being Jeff, so everyone tells him to go with that. He approaches Jenny but it turns out her boyfriend looks like a white Abed. Awkwarrrrrrd, especially when he wants to fight: “Let’s go, slum dog.”

Jeff tells them all that HE TOLD THEM SO while the group laments that Abed’s heart must be broken, but he rolls in happy as can be. He tells Britta that he has self-esteem flowing out of his butt. He changed himself for THEM because he was trying to make his friends feel like they were helping him. Later, a cute girl approaches him, and we find out that Abed usually does have the cuties approaching him because he’s so darn adorable.

Jeff is taking a billiards class and he’s hilariously dressed like the Fonz or something. He thinks it will be an easy class, as he’s easily beating the crap out of everyone else. The instructor bursts his bubble however, when he reminds the class that this is a Physical Education credit and so they must all wear gym clothes. This consists of short shorts which Jeff looks RIDICULOUS in. He tries to appeal to the coach, but the coach is hearing none of it. Jeff decides to drop the course because he refuses to look dumb while playing the world’s coolest sport.

After the pep talk from Abed, Jeff pulls on his pool shorts and decides to beat the coach at pool. A crowd gathers to watch and Jeff is awesome. For some reason they strip down to their underpants to prove that Jeff doesn’t care about how he looks while playing pool. It comes down to one of them winning and for some reason they go full blown naked. I’m a little shocked and appalled at the coach’s body, but if Joel McHale wants to be naked on my TV, I won’t stop him. Jeff ends up winning and the coach crowns him the winner. “You magnificent son of a bitch!” and then they kiss.

Right before the end of the episode, Troy and Abed re-enact Bert and Ernie eating cookies. Adorable!

What an amazing return this was! I have to admit I do love Abed, so an Abed centered episode was a very happy surprise. Did this satisfy your Community craving or were you left wanting more? And which description fits you: Hipster, or proud shorts wearer? Leave me your Two Cents in the comments!
