In the open, Michael has a meeting on the fundamentals of business. He says what he knows about business could fill a book. Ryan challenges him to write one. Michael has writers block, because, well, he actually doesn’t know all that much about business. I know, I’m as surprised as you are.

An insurance salesman comes in to meet with Michael. The salesman is large and obviously Italian so Dwight and Andy think he’s a mobster. The guy’s last name is Grotti, too so that’s not helping much. Dwight and Andy give Michael advice on how to deal with a made man. Andy says sing like a canary and Dwight says he should confront Grotti by meeting him for lunch. Dwight and Andy come with him. Andy is dressed as a mechanic so he can use a tire iron. Good plan, Andy.

They have lunch and Grotti talks Michael into a policy. Michael comes back to the office and calls Jim for advice and of course Jim messes with him by pretending the phone is breaking up. Oh, and by the way, Jim and Pam are on their honeymoon in San Juan so, you know, they’d rather not be bothered. Although, why is Jim answering his cell? Surely he just wouldn’t pick up if he saw one of the office’s numbers on his caller id.

Kevin has taken up residence in Jim’s office. Capital One calls for Jim because someone has been using his credit card in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and they suspect fraud. Kevin takes the call and gives the requisite info so Cap One concludes that Jim is not in San Juan so they’re going to freeze his card and send him a new one. Uh oh.

Dwight and Andy decide to help Michael stop living in fear by convincing him that Grotti is not in the mafia after all. Michael calls Grotti and tells him that he’s not buying the policy and threatens him. Then Andy and Dwight tell him that the guy really was mafia and that Michael stood up to him, so yay.

And that’s your episode! Not terrible, not outstanding. What’d you think? How bad do you think it smells in Jim’s office right now? Would Oscar really really like it in prison? Leave a comment!
