El Cunado (with a tilde) means brother-in law, but of course that doesn’t stop the guys from making it sound dirty.

The League gets a fresh shot in the arm from actor Jason Mantzoukas as Ruxin’s cunado Rafi. The character allows more character development for both Andre and Taco, as The League galvanizes against him. Rafi loads the jukebox with Hoobastank, steals Pete’s drinks and gets way too aggressive with his trash talking. Along the way, he is shuffled from friend to friend with disastrous results. Andre and Taco are the butt of these kind of jokes, but Rafi deserves them so much more, and it’s nice to see them on the other end for a change. It is an absolutely brilliant mix that makes all of the League players step up their game.

To make up for Vegas, Ruxin advises Kevin to treat Jenny to a special “Terrific Lady Day”, which turns into an actual grown-up date when Kevin builds it around a conference for his office. Jenny even borrows her grandmother’s earrings for the occasion, but Kevin accidentally swallows them. Even more unfortunate is that the medicine to induce vomiting does not take effect until his boss opens his speech. All this happens in front of Taco, whose new girlfriend is bringing out a more urbane side.

In an effort to ditch El Cunado, Pete suckers Rafi into making an emergency trade. But when he takes Andre’s car and girlfriend to an internet café, they rush to Ruxin’s house to stop the deal. Finding Rafi’s proposed trade in the midst of his own Terrific Lady Day, Ruxin blindfolds Sofia, using kinky games as a distraction. Sofia unwittingly has the entire League in her bedroom as the trade talk morphs beautifully into double entendres. Rafi ruins Ruxin’s night by announcing the trade, but Sofia is more upset that his gag reflex is being triggered by the vanilla candles. Leaving the scene, Andre and Pete discover that reflex may have already been tripped.

Ruxin’s explanation of Terrific Lady Day is definitely memorable, especially his comparison to Katherine Heigl films.

Other highlights

Taco: “I’m off the clock.”
Kevin: “You don’t have a clock.”
Taco: “Yes I do. It’s in my kitchen.”

Pete: “He’s a fun vacuum.”

Andre: “He’s more useless than the black Thompson Twin.”
Pete: “You know, I can’t decide if that’s more dated or more racist…But either way, you’re right, though…”

Jenny: “How is it possible that you stomach is even more stubborn than you are?”

Anyone out there have any experience with Terrific Lady Days? Or seven dollars worth of Hoobastank? Drop in your comments or send me a note at: tom@thetwocents.com .
