Even though Emily Owens was cancelled, The CW has decided to air/burn off the rest of the show’s episodes, beginning with this week’s heavy episode. The main case of the week deals with a teenage girl who got into a car accident with her boyfriend and has some major injuries, while the other case deals with a model that comes in with tooth pain and leaves with a diagnosis she won’t accept.

Meanwhile, Emily & Cassandra continue their passive aggressive fighting, while Will reveals a huge secret to Emily. Read on for this week’s recap.

Happy New Year everyone! The Bravermans are back and welcoming 2013 with the fourth to last episode of the season. Yes, there are only three new episodes after this one and let’s hope NBC remembers how great this season has been to have it come back for another. But for now, as tonight’s episode suggests, we keep rowing and our couples also keep going despite their respected setbacks.

And fun fact, tonight’s episode was directed by Dax Shepard (aka Crosby), hence the photo on the left. So let’s see what are Bravermans are up to this week.

The chefs have to harvest oysters and cook for roller derby skaters. No, not at the same time but the show is not beyond making them harvest oysters while on roller skates.

We veer a little bit more into reality-show tropes this episode with some very familiar dialogue from Josie. I’d cut Josie more slack if I liked her more or if she were cooking good food. So far, she’s been pretty unlikable and she’s been completely unsuccessful with her food. Frankly, she’s lucky she’s still competing.

We open this week with an awkward dinner scene and a couple who clearly have issues. What those issues are become obvious when the woman abruptly states, “I had lunch with her.” He barely has time to respond before she pulls out a gun and shoots him.

This seems too easy, too cut and dried…

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – The Snowmen

Doctor Who
The Snowmen

Original Air Date: Dec 25, 2012

In England 1842, a lonely little boy had a snowman talk to him. It sounds like a fairytale but the snowman doesn’t echo nice thoughts. 50 years later and that boy has grown up to become Doctor Simeon (Richard E. Grant) who is still talking to the snow (voiced by Ian McKellen) and feeding the homeless people to the snowmen. Shudder!

Can a dejected Doctor, his comically sociopathic Sontaran sidekick Strax, Silurian Madame Vastra and her human wife Jenny, and the familiar face (just to the audience, the Doctor only ever heard her voice) Clara Oswald band together and save the world from The Snowmen?

The family, and the viewers, get a startling revelation at the start of this week’s episode. Apparently Francine is actually the “Baby Franny” – who fell down a well and was rescued as the country watched 35 years ago. She’s never told the family and doesn’t want anyone to know – which is why she’s never returned the calls from the show “Morning Glory” that want to talk to her about it.

Also this week – naked men look stupid with their shoes on, and you should never drop a muffin in a fish bowl.

What did Northwest Airlines ever do to Seth MacFarlane? While hilarious, the opening ad about how they’ll make sure you don’t make it home for the holidays seemed very direct, and brutal. And had nothing to do with Christmas at the Griffins, where they’re decorating the tree and talking about last year’s present – the genetically altered “turtledoves” that attacked them all – before Peter’s version of the first Christmas.

The “Greatest Story Ever Told” has been told a lot of times, but not quite like this.

Dear TV Claus … From KP

For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. A powerful being who transcends all beliefs to bring us the wonderment of good television. You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TV Claus,

Our final plea to you comes from me. I know we’re mere hours away from the big ride. Do you go and program the DVR in the sleigh? IF so, do you avoid the 100 showings of The Santa Claus 3 on ABC Family? Also, why do you only show 1 and 3. What happened to 2?

On to my wishes…

1. Let Hollywood show some love for Parenthood around award season. The show gets better every single season! Also, while we are speaking of Parenthood – Hank? Really?

2. Give me a better TV Stocking full of new series next year. I think you dove into the Dollar Store stocking stuffers for what you gave us this year. Even my favorite pilot – Last Resort – ended up being a waste of time.

3. Friday Night Lights movie – make it happen!

You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TV Claus,

1) A lot of my favorite shows from last year have been disappointing me this season. Can you try to work your magic and make them great again, particularly The Vampire Diaries?

2) Can you make sure Scandal sees a third season? It’s one of the best shows on television and Olivia Pope needs to be on my TV for years to come.
