Small Victories

The Bravermans are once again dealing with a lot this week, with heartbreak at the top of the list. It felt like we spanned the drama gamut tonight being hit from all sides and I’m pretty pooped. Luckily, there was one story that was on the lighter side to break up the emotional punches, which is just the way I like it.

Tonight is about small victories because sometimes small wins are better than none and yet, I’m not sure we really got any real victories (except for one), but hey, one is better than none, right?

Jess and Sam are going away for a romantic cabin weekend. So naturally, she’s nervous about being alone with him. To solve the problem, she invites Nick to bring Angie.

At first Nick is opposed, arguing that his and Angie’s relationship is not a conventional one. But since it’s free he’s in. Having watched Cabin in the Woods I was not expecting anything good to come out of this.

In tonight’s episode, Emily decides that she’s in a rut and needs to shake some things up in her life. After Tyra suggests that Emily should have a one night stand, Cassandra sets Emily up on a blind date with a teacher named Scott. Does Will end up getting jealous over Emily’s date?

Also, a case of Micah’s ends up going terribly wrong and has him thinking about some things in his life. Finally, Emily takes care of a larper (Live Action Role Player). Read on for this week’s recap!

Private Practice
Good Fries Are Hard To Come By

With two episodes remaining, my fingers are crossed that Shonda’s experiment of character-centric episodes has ended. Because while I like Amelia, and James has a pretty torso, tonight’s episode was a pretty big letdown after all of the Cooper/Charlotte drama we left off with before the holidays.

I’d give the character episodes a mostly passing grade, as I liked more (Charlotte, Cooper, Sheldon) than I openly disliked (Sam!). But tonight didn’t feel like an episode of Private Practice, it felt like a Kate Hudson romantic comedy (with very little comedy) movie. And with the series winding down, it felt like an hour squandered.

Justified
Hole in the Wall

Original Air Date: Jan 8, 2013

Lyssa G – Reviewer

Welcome to the start of season four of Justified. This season we have no idea what to expect. One thing that I know that we can expect is to see a lot more of Boyd Crowder. He has always been one of my favorites on this show. He has this spirit about him that radiates from this show. Last season we had Quarles there was a lot of back and forth that kept going on with him. There was also Limehouse who paled in comparison to Mags Bennett from the second season.

At the end of the last season we saw that Winona had decided to go through her pregnancy on her own without Raylan by her side. We can tell that he is still in love with her and really wants to be included in the baby’s life. Here is hoping that this season will be a lot better than the last. Lets see how this goes.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Max Greenfield (New Girl)

what the schmidt?

what the schmidt?

Max Greenfield, Actor

Max Greenfield is no stranger to television. Before starring as Schmidt on New Girl, he had recurring roles on such shows as Veronica Mars, Raising the Bar, Ugly Betty, and Greek. He guest-starred on many other shows and has appeared in various TV and feature films. But no character has been quite as memorable as Schmidt. Whether he’s throwing one of his parties or putting money in the Douchebag Jar, he keeps his roommates, and the audience, in stitches. During a recent conference call, Max talked about what’s coming up for himself and for Schmidt in 2013; including his first nomination for a Golden Globe as a supporting actor!

TheTwoCents: What were you doing when you heard of the Golden Globe nomination, and how does it feel to be recognized?

Castle
Significant Others

Original Air Date: Jan 7, 2013

Divina F – TwoCents Reviewer
divina@thetwocentscorp.com

The way Castle opens up tonight makes me forget that there was a hiatus. Actually, no. I didn’t forget. But within the first three minutes it’s obvious that the amount of awesome I’m being presented with is making up for my recent boring Monday nights.

Alexis is stuck at home with mono, Beckett is staying over because her apartment is being fumigated, and suddenly Castle’s ex-wife is moving in to nurse her daughter back to health. (And is it just me, or does Meridith actually shoot Caskett the evil smirk? It’s like Beckett is the first woman her ex-husband is dating. Trez weird.)

Switched At Birth
The Door To Freedom

Karen Belgrad – Senior Editor

After the longest first season ever, Switched At Birth returned tonight for an all new winter season. And like all good second season premieres, this hour was all about set-up for plots lines to come.

That’s not to say this was a bad outing, it was actually chock full of small moments that were quite good. But if you were looking for a pick-your-jaw-off-the floor reveal or explosion of emotions then you were left wanting. But let’s cover what did go down…
