Nashville
Be Careful of Stones That You Throw

Original Air Date: Jan 9, 2013

And this week’s episode of Nashville has been brought to you by BAD DECISIONS! When we last left Music City, our characters were busy making bold choices, taking steps to change their lives one break-up, road tour, and marriage proposal at a time. This week was all about questioning those life changes—and falling back into old habits in the process.

Y’all, Scarlett and Avery should know better than to hook up after he cheated on her. They’ll never really trust each other, and his selfishness—cutting off his lifelong bandmates to secure a solo deal—will always come between them. To repair some of Avery’s damage, Scarlett fills in as lead singer for his band and pretty much rocks it, at least as much as any doe-eyed blonde can rock a song about barbed wire. The band offers to make her a permanent member, but she’d rather write songs with Gunnar. Even though she’d also rather not be in a relationship with him. Even though she totally wants to be in a relationship with him. I don’t understand Scarlett. (But I am glad that she and Gunnar are making beautiful music again!)

Modern Family
New Year’s Eve

Ushering in a New Year can be bittersweet. It reminds you another year has passed, you’re a year older, there were dreams unfulfilled but it also holds hope – hope the coming year will be better, you will do better.

Jay has set up an “adults only” New Year’s celebration in Palm Springs. He had fun a few years ago (1974 – before I was even born!!) and wanted to share the fun with the family. When they arrive at Viejo Hotel Fiesta, they find it’s passed its prime. Jay’s gung-ho so everyone sticks it out and go to dinner with dear old dad. Gloria passes out during mealtime so Jay escorts her back to the room.

Remember that time when John was eliminated? Last week? I do. Some of the cheftestants share my fondness over the memory, like Josh and Stefan (one of whom shouldn’t still be here and one of whom shouldn’t have been here in the first place).

Quickfire

The chefs have create a dish highlighting ginger in just 15 minutes. The winner gets immunity. Also, Wolfgang Puck is the guest judge.

Her name is Jesse, and she’s a rape victim who worked with the SVU in a difficult case. She passed out at a club and could barely recall the details of her own rape before being taken home- rather forcibly- by Tommy, that now deceased significant other.

A father and son fishing trip catches something more substantial: a human ear, which our NCIS team investigates.

Speaking of fathers; Ziva’s father, Eli David, the Director of Mossad, suddenly appears in the US on a “mission of redemption”. Uhoh. That never ends well in television.

Pretty Little Liars
She’s Better Now

One of the Liars is in bed with A… Literally. In the winter premiere opening, Mona creeps into Hanna’s bedroom, begging for a place to stay after she was released from the insane asylum. In the middle of the night. This really seems like a stretch – doesn’t Mona have her own home? With parents? Parents who would probably need to be present for her discharge from the loony bin? Regardless, I’m not surprised Hanna caved and let Mona claim sanctuary. We also find out Hanna’s grandmother is in the house. Here’s hoping Hanna got her spunk from Grandma Marin!

The dark hours must be busy ones for Rosewood, as there’s a hoodie on a skateboard riding around town while Mona is cozying up to Hanna. There are also a few cars out on the road, one of which tries to run down the late-night grinder… and it’s driven by Toby. Was this skater really a skAter? And why was Toby after him or her? Oh, PLL, I love that you get crazier every week, and with brains and explosions, this week is no exception!

In last night’s latest episode, Max is sad that he can’t meet a nice guy because he doesn’t fit into a specific category, so Jane & Derek decide to scour the city with Max so he can find out who he is. Meanwhile, Brad starts to think that Jane doesn’t think he’s man enough, so he & Dave decide to “man it up” and fix a light dimmer.

Also, Alex welcomes a huge pop star to her store, and when she tries to use her to get publicity for her store things get a little crazy. Read on for the recap!
