The CW’s ratings-bleeding spy drama returned tonight with a concentrated, plot heavy episode. Birkhoff spills the details of Sonya’s predicament to Nikita, Alex’s drug consumption quickly converged to the main storyline, Team Division forms a plan, and agents are being tailed everywhere!

With Sonya susceptible to death at any moment via wireless kill chip, Birkhoff is having nightmares. They revolve around missions themselves. Poor Birkhoff; I guess secret spies can’t even escape from their dangerous world in dreams. Amanda activates the chip in it, and Sonya dies. Birkhoff wakes up. Sonya’s alive.

Two Parties

Leslie and Ben’s wedding is still some time down the line, but this week has them dealing with some fun stuff: the bachelor and bachelorette parties. Maid of honour Ann has planned quite the girlie shindig for Leslie, while Ben fittingly settles for a low-key guys night complete with beer, Homeland, and an intense game of Settlers of Catan. It’s very Ben, but the other guys have other plans up their sleeves.

It’s not all fun and games, though, when Councilman Jamm butts heads with Leslie, forcing her to take an extreme action and putting a bit of a damper in her party plans.

Dwight gets a message from David Wallace that one of the local businesses, a father and son owned suit warehouse, is in the market for a paper contract. Dwight calls up Jim in Philly so they can get their salesmen brother act back on the road. Jim says he’s too busy and Dwight should take Phyllis to stand in as Dwight’s sister. Instead, Dwight enlists Clark to fill in as his son to land the Suit Warehouse contract.

Daryl is on his way to Philly to interview for his new job. Pam decides to go with him just because she can. Pam asks Erin to cover her shipment of pens. Basically, that means that Erin has to accept the delivery from the delivery guy and make sure the box contains pens. Erin has no idea how to handle that. It turns out to be just too much for her.

American Idol
Chicago Auditions

I don’t think that Idol has ever had a better entrance than at a planetarium in Chicago. Pulsating lights, slick surfaces, chiseled angles —very scifi. It made me almost want to be a contestant on the show so I could walk through it. Almost.

I have to say this episode was head and shoulders above the season opener. While a lot was made of the judges “feud,” we also got to see a lot of contestants. In fact, over two hours, 21 singers paraded in front of the panel to receive a life-changing yay or nay. Crazies were kept to a minimum (thank you producers!).

The end: we’re almost there!

It’s fitting that with just a few weeks to go, Liz decides to make a big life change after Tracy lets her in on a little secret- she’s not very fun, and she’s never done anything spontaneous. She decides to shake things up and jumps at the chance when Jack invites her on a midweek trip to Florida, where he’ll gather the rest of Colleen’s belongings. Before he can celebrate becoming CEO, he needs to gather her belongings from her live-in nurse, Martha. How will he react when he discovers Colleen’s little secret?

With Liz gone, Tracy and Jenna are in charge over at TGS and the results are disastrous, as usual. When TGS’s lawyer, Martin Lutherking (Tim Meadows) has them take care of a legal problem plaguing the show, it’s up to Kenneth to make it go away.

Apparently Judgeitis is contagious. Mike must have caught it from Rachel. All that kissing – knowing Rachel had Judgeitis. Mike, I thought you were smart. Let’s see how Mike displays the symptoms of this infuriating disease where judging others becomes an obsession.

Case of the week is poor-little-rich-boy (Liam) struck a person with his car and fled. Yup, instead of stopping, idiot fled. He called 911 but fled. Really? Not the smartest thing (well, the kid did look Neanderthal-ish). Mike immediately barks questions at Liam; demanding to know if it was alcohol related (no).

The End is the Beginning is the End

Grey’s Anatomy exists in a fascinating time line. The first three seasons were one calendar year. The post-holidays episode resumed exactly where the show had left off. And now we’re one month further down the road. I wonder if anyone has ever calculated exactly what year it is in Grey’s-land?

It’s an eclectic episode, with emotions running the gamut from lovelorn to grieving, with Callie trying to shoehorn in a celebration amongst some of the most morose millionaires ever. Because tonight, the plane crash lawsuit came to fruition and it was… fruitful!

Last week, we left off wondering whether the coup in DC would succeed and whether the mutiny against Captain Marcus Chaplin would take place.

Admiral Arthur Shepard is able to get a communications link to Chaplin, with some help from the CIA. Shepard tells Chaplin about the planned coup in DC and tells him to be prepared to make a statement on tv. Cortez helped get the communications link. When Chaplin tells her he wants to speak with Sam, Cortez wonders whether Sam can be trusted. She also tells Chaplin that the CIA wanted the Colorado to be a symbol of resistance against the current president, but wanted Sam to be in charge instead of Chaplin. So, it turns out Booth’s offer to Sam was real.
