Goodbye, Allison
Allison Iraheta’s Exit Interview

Patricia Morris Buckley — Associate Staff Writer

For her final moments on America Idol, Allison Iraheta couldn’t help but see the irony.

“I was crying and singing a song called ‘Cry Baby,’” she said the morning after getting voted off the show in fourth place. “But I had fun with it. I was thinking that they (the judges) aren’t going to judges this so I’ll give it my all. I felt good about it.”

Of course, it’s also ironic that Allison, a rocker chic, got eliminated on Rock’n’Roll Night singing a Janis Joplin tune. Mostly, she couldn’t wait to meet the mentor, Slash of Guns ‘n Roses.

“He is so awesome,” she said, speaking in a way that reminds you that she’s just barely 17. “I’ve been a fan of his for so long. He’s hands down one of the best mentors we’ve had.”

I knew things couldn’t go too well this week for our Dharma folks since this week’s theme was Locke being in charge, and I was right. Has anyone else noticed that things start to go downhill when Locke feels all warm and fuzzy and special? Kate and Jack would, but they’re a little busy being captured by the hostiles after Faraday gets shot. Eloise finds Dan’s diary, and tells young Widmore they’re not Dharma. Is it just me, or does Widmore look really familiar?

Oh Allison. Oh.

I knew at the tender age of 17 that you were never going to win, but I still had high hopes that you would land second or third. That’s why I voted for you for an hour Tuesday night, just as a 13-year-old girl would have. I knew you needed all those votes and more. All season long the judges have been hard on you and you’ve landed in the B3 so many times I’ve lost count. And there are some that would call you this season’s Syesha — who came close to being eliminated many times, but ended up in semi-finals.

After nearly a month, it’s time for the last episodes of the season. This week, Matthew gains some weight, so Christine offers to help him. Except, typically, she wants to help herself too. And, also typically, she is unsuccessful. She takes it well, I’d say.

Gibbs and McGee are still in LA working with the OSP team to find the terrorist cell who where trying to get weapons from ‘Liam’ the arms dealer who tried to kill a couple of agents but was killed himself when McGee warned the team. Callen has taken ‘Liam’s’ place, when his first client knocks on the door. Liam opens the door only to find none other than Michael  Rivkin on the other side. Of course at that moment he has no idea who Michael is. In fact the only people who can identify him are in DC.

In an A+ opening, the team (minus Cho) are on location at the Sausalito docks, looking at Jim Gulbrand’s boat. He was reported missing and they found blood on his boat, but no body. We learn from Grace “Infodump” Van Pelt that Jim was the CEO of Gaia Matrix, a software company facing SEC investigation, including but not limited to the possibilities of fines and federal jail time as well as recently divorced from a woman named Catherine. It takes Jane all of four minutes to find the body — lashed to the lowered anchor.

Only two singers — Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta — last night proved they can really perform rock’n’roll. And yet only one of them — Adam — is assured a spot in the semi-finals. It just ain’t fair.

You know what else ain’t fair? That Danny Gokey can perform a travesty on our ears with that scream at the end of “Dream On” and still get the judges’ praise. And probably will still go on to the next round.
