We begin our summer viewing with a trip down “When They Were.” This summer’s theme is “Famous Celebrities.” 21 Jump Street is credited with giving Johnny Depp the heartthrob status that he had for the majority of the late 80s and the entirety of time since then. But, the show is also filled with guest spots by other actors like Brad Pitt and Christina Applegate, back when no one had any clue who they were. So this summer we shall be watching episodes with those cameos, and perhaps we will feel some second-hand embarrassment for them because they had to wear such tacky costumes. The first episode in our DVD club this summer, is the Pilot. No celebrity cameos in this episode, but it’s important to start with the biggest celebrity of them all – Johnny Depp. Admit it, he’s a big reason why you’re watching this show to begin with.

Tonight’s special episode of Man Vs. Wild is appropriately titled “Men Vs. Wild,” because Bear Grylls is taking on a partner for this trip. Will Ferrell, fresh on the heels of the opening of his film Land of the Lost, is going with Bear to the north of Sweden. WAY north. Let’s see how Will does in the REAL land of the lost.

To most Americans, Hugh Laurie is the snarky tough-talking Dr. House. What many don’t know, however, is that Hugh Laurie is a bit of a comedy genius. Once upon a time, a whole ten years ago, he was in a show with Stephen Fry called A Bit of Fry & Laurie. I’ve been waiting to catch this show for a while now, and I thought the Summer DVD Review would be a great chance to share it with some fellow television fans. I watched the pilot episode of the sketch comedy show, and thought I would tell you some of my favorite moments while inviting you to share some of yours.

OK, so since I did my top ten faves last summer, I think that this summer I will go for the top ten worst Buffy episodes! I know, why would I want to encourage you to watch the worst, because it is fun! Let the summer vacation and the not so great Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes begin! First off, I chose “As You Were” for my number 10 worst Buffy episodes.

According to various sources, Dexter Morgan’s latest adversary has been cast. John Lithgow, who most may remember from the popular television show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, will play Walter Simmons. Showtime’s press release describces Simmons as “an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America’s most prolific and deadliest serial killers.” Gee, that doesn’t sound familiar …
