Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Teacher’s Pet

#9 (Top 10 Worst Episodes)
Season 1, Episode 4

Jenny D – TwoCents Staff Writer
jennyd@thetwocentscorp.com

I am glad to see the feedback about my top 10 worst episodes as we move on to number 9, Teacher’s Pet. On the up side, Xander gets the limelight, but it also makes him look pathetic (part of the reason I dislike it). The downside, the episode was a dousy! Unfortunately, many of the early episodes of my beloved Buffy were not the best. I will make this as short an painless as possible, bear with me!

True Blood – Recap & Review – Nothing But The Blood

True Blood
Nothing But the Blood

Original Air Date: June 14, 2009

Andi – Senior Reviewer
andi@thetwocentscorp.com

Oh, I am so excited to see you all again. Are you excited? Because I AM! I’m excited to see these opening credits and I’m excited to see Eric and Sukeh and I’m excited to see Jessica and Sam and I’m not too excited to see you, Bill, but that’s okay. So, yes, I’m excited for this new episode of True Blood because Sookie is sporatic, Maryann is scary, Sam is scared, Eric is fleeting but awesome, and Lafayette appears to be held captive aboard the Flying Dutchman, calling forth the kraken or some such shiznit.

As your guest reviewer for this episode, let me just say that this was the creepiest installment yet, and I’m so happy to be the one to tell you about it! Claustrophobic? Yeah, you might want to avoid this one. My breathing is becoming constricted already…

But before we dive in, don’t forget to visit (AFTER you read this review) our Death Toll post and our updated Character Bio page, complete with “How They Died” blurbs. Now… on to the mayhem.

Spaced
Gatherings

Season 1, episode 2

JD – Associate Staff Writer
jd@thetwocentscorp.com

In this episodes of Spaced, we’re still getting some set up. Though Brian, Twist, and Mike were introduced in the first episode, we didn’t really get to know them very well. Gatherings rectifies that, and teaches us an important life lesson along the way: How not to throw a party. Watch and learn.

TwoCents and Five Questions With…

Mark-Paul Gosselaar

Mark-Paul Gosselaar

…Mark-Paul Gosselaar, actor

Mark-Paul Gosselaar has come a long way since Saved by the Bell, although you wouldn’t know it to watch his latest appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (which, by the way, was brilliant… watch the clip here). The second season of his current show, Raising the Bar, premiered last week on TNT, and TheTwoCents got a chance to sit down and ask Preppy a few things about the show… and of course that crazy hair.

TheTwoCents: For someone joining the show in the second season, what do you think is the most important thing they should know about Raising the Bar?

The L Word
Luck, Next time

Season 1, Episode 9

Angelique – Associate Staff Writer
angelique@thetwocentscorp.com

For me The L Word has always been one of those shows which had a lot of great elements and also a lot of not so great elements. And even though Ilene Chaiken and the fans never really had the same ideas about the show it has been one of those shows that no matter how much I hated those particular elements I kept watching the show because I loved the rest. Till this past season, till the end. The end of the show, also something the fans did not at all like when Ilene said that it would end after the sixth season.

Battlestar Galactica
Exodus Part 2

#9 (Top 10 Happiest Episodes)
Season 3, Episode 2

Brittany – Associate Staff Writer
Brittany@thetwocentscorp.com

There’s nothing better than a homecoming, right? Being reunited with friends and family after being separated for months. It’s a joyous occasion and should be celebrated with laughter and hugs. Unless you happen to be the crew of the Galactica and you’re rescuing your people from a planet turned detention camp thanks to the cylons. Then, it’s not so much fun. That’s why ‘Exodus Part 2’ is a bittersweet episode; both happy and soul eating. Let’s find out why, shall we?

Strangers With Candy – Summer DVD Review – Old Habits, New Beginnings

Strangers With Candy
Old Habits, New Beginnings

Season 1, Episode 1

Theresa – Staff Writer
theresa@thetwocentscorp.com

“Hello, I’m Jerri Blank, and I’m a 46-year-old high school freshman. For 32 years, I was a teenage runaway. I was a boozer, a user, and a loser!”

So opens the first episode of Strangers with Candy, a brilliantly irreverent satire of after-school specials created by Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, and Mitch Rouse. Sedaris plays the already-introduced Jerri Blank, who has finally decided to get off the streets and pick up her life where she left it, back in her hometown high school. Colbert plays Chuck Noblet, Flatpoint High’s history teacher who “nurtures” his students with insults in between his own neurotic freakouts. Joffrey Jellinek, the school’s art teacher, played by Dinello, has a softer, positive psychology approach, though still little patience for Jerri. In fact, the only people who are nice to Jerri at all are her friend Orlando and her turtle Shelly.

Keen Eddie
Horse Heir

Season 1, Episode 2

Nicola – Associate Staff Writer
nicola@thetwocentscorp.com

Someone is sawing through Hurricane’s stable door, attempting to steal him. Characteristic of this show, it’s two boneheaded criminals who are almost unable to lead the horse out. They manage and drive away in a van, leaving the caretaker running after them in their wake.

And who do we call when a crime like this happens? Eddie, evidently.
