Farewell…

… Ed McMahon, TV Announcer/Host

From CNN: “Ed McMahon, the longtime pitchman and Johnny Carson sidekick whose “Heeeeeeerre’s Johnny!” became a part of the vernacular, has died. McMahon passed away peacefully shortly after midnight at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center, his publicist, Howard Bragman, said Tuesday

Though he later hosted a variety of shows — including “Star Search” and “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes,” McMahon’s biggest fame came alongside Carson on “The Tonight Show,” which Carson hosted from 1962 to 1992. The two met not long after Carson began hosting the game show “Who Do You Trust?” in 1957.”

True Blood – Recap & Review – Keep The Party Going

True Blood
Keep the Party Going

Original Air Date: June 21, 2009

This week on True Blood, I laughed, I cringed, I felt really sorry for some of the actors. In this episode, Eric makes with the threatening and biting, Pam plays beauty parlor, Bill becomes bi-polar, Maryann unleashes her crazy pheromones on the poor people of Bon Temps, and Sookie continues to be played by Anna Paquin…unfortunately.

Merlin – Recap & Review – The Dragon’s Call

Merlin
The Dragon’s Call

Original Air Date: June 21, 2009

This is a Public Service Announcement: At this time we would ask that all viewers and readers please abandon any prior knowledge of Arthurian lore that you may have, as it has no bearing whatsoever on this show. Seriously. This is a show about kings and knights and magic and dragons, and it is pretty good in a family friendly, benign, pre-watershed BBC kind of way. But if you’re an Arthurian purist, run fast and far, for this show will bring you only pain. For the rest of us, let’s just enjoy the quirky fun, yes?
That concludes our Public Service Announcement.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Gingerbread

#8 (Top 10 Worst Episodes)
Season 3, Episode 11

Jenny D – TwoCents Staff Writer
jennyd@thetwocentscorp.com

I was excited to discover over the weekend that IMDB.com has all of the seasons of Buffy on their site to watch, so for those of you who do not have the DVDs, that is an option to experience the episodes.

I have to admit, having Joyce fight with Buffy was the highlight of the episode, and probably the only part I really liked about it! But, unfortunately, it lead to a dreadful episode as Buffy’s mom finds two dead children laying in the playground and makes it her mission to find the killer.

Spaced – Summer DVD Review – Art

Spaced
Art

Season 1, episode 3

Now we’re finally going, yeah? We’re past the introduction stage that Beginnings and Gatherings gave us and into the thick of things. I have to say that Art is one of my very favorite episodes of this show. We get that perfect mix of bizarre and still relatable that this show is so good at. This episode gives us the zombie parody, too, which is most excellent. Simon Pegg has said that if you watched Spaced you can see the genres they wanted to get into, and this is definitely a good example.

Battlestar Galactica
Resurrection Ship Part 2

#8 (Top 10 Happiest Episodes)
Season 2, Episode 12

Brittany – Associate Staff Writer
Brittany@thetwocentscorp.com

As the trend has been with Battlestar Galactica, for every happy occasion there is one that punches you right in the face. You can’t have more than ten minutes of good at a time before something terrible comes along and makes you cry. I’ve started to look at it this way: It’s a happy episode if Laura isn’t crying by the end, or hasn’t cried or been on the verge of crying. Or you know, isn’t dying. Which brings us to my pick for happiest episode number eight: ‘Resurrection Ship Part 2’.

Merlin is coming to NBC

Photo: NBC

photo: nbc

Once upon a time there was a little British show that took Arthurian folklore and mixed it all up and turned it on its head and made a whole lot of classicists and anthropologists cry. But that’s okay; you want to know why that’s okay? Because the entire cast is adorable – really adorable!

Also, it’s just a really cute family friendly show in the same vein as Doctor Who. If you like Who, you will like Merlin – it’s campy in the same ways and it’s smart in the same ways. And, to make it even better, there are more cast members to fall in love with!

Merlin will air Sunday, June 21st on NBC at 8/7c. In the meantime, have a look at these links to whet your appetite:

New Dexter Promo Poster

Showtime

Showtime

A while back, some unsightly promotional posters were swimming around the internet, claiming to be for the new season of Dexter (here’s our story on it).

We knew they looked a bit fishy. And our thoughts have been confirmed with the surfacing of an actual promo poster for the new season of Dexter.

I’m psyched for Daddy Dexter. How ’bout you?
