“Day Four”

The 456 have arrived in their Alien Box, and want ten percent of the children. Jack is struggling with sins from his past (again). How will Torchwood save the world when the team’s got no clue what they’re up against?

We begin in flashback, where we find out more of exactly what happened the first time the 456 arrived. Seems the kids were a gift in exchange for the cure to a very deadly Indonesian flu.

Live Report From Comic-Con 2009 – Opening Night

Comic-Con: Opening Night

Patricia Morris Buckley — Associate Staff Writer
pmb@thetwocentscorp.com

Comic-Con 2009 opened with a bang with sneak peeks of three TV pilots: Human Target, V and Vampire Diaries.

HUMAN TARGET
I was a little late to this screening, so I only saw the last 35 minutes. And was it adrenalin pumping! Mark Valley (Detective John Scott, boyfriend of Agent Olivia Dunham on Fringe – BTW, Valley and Anna Torv are married in real life) plays a body guard/private detective who keeps people alive.

Valley is joined by Chi McBride (of Pushing Daisies) and Jackie Earle Haley (of Watchman). The pilot is like watching the film Speed on a train, as Valley’s character, Christopher Chance, tries to keep a train from crashing and killing everyone on board. Lots of action, but also a little bit of real thinking — sounds like a winner.

Prison Break DVD Release Review – The Final Break

Prison Break
“The Final Break”

DVD Release: July 21, 2009

Tom R. – Sr. Staff Writer
tom@thetwocents.com

When Prison Break was canceled in mid-season, FOX only agreed to air six episodes, which is a traditional block offered to a network. Since the cancellation happened in mid-season, however, two episodes were left in the can, while the show’s final episode featured a closing montage that was poignant, but a little rushed. That ending did not set well with many fans, particularly with the death of its main character.

For anyone who felt that way, this DVD is a must-rent. The un-aired episodes are spliced together into one story that provides a much more satisfying ending to the show’s run. While the FOX finale rushed to provide all the answers and tie up every loose end, the approach here is more relaxed, more subtle, and incredibly effective.

Your boss has just been rescued from a block of concrete, the government is trying to kill you, and hey, aliens are coming back to Earth today in a big giant gas chamber. Just another day at the office if you’re Torchwood.

The gang’s all back together, and reconvened at an old Torchwood holding facility that’s pretty much rusted away in the middle of nowhere. (But helpfully, there’s a couch. Always need a good couch.) Rhys is ticked off that Jack let slip he knew Gwen was pregnant before Rhys did; Ianto manages to alert his sister that he’s still alive. Continue reading

Keen Eddie
Black Like Me

Season 1, Episode 7

Nicola – Associate Staff Writer
nicola@thetwocentscorp.com

Just another day at the office – Eddie and Pippin are investigating a robbery at a jewelry store.  One clerk is seriously injured, the other only saw the brand of the suitcase the robbers put the jewels in.  Doesn’t look like such an extraordinary case, so Eddie heads back to Scotland Yard for lunch.  In the cafeteria, Eddie inadvertently insults all the black people in the queue, including Nathaniel.  What a dirty racist, tsk tsk.
