Survivor
Premiere Date: September 17
Time: 8:00pm EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Rachel
Starring: Jeff Probst and 16 desperate castaways
Program Description: You all know the drill: Take 16 people for varying walks of life, drop them on an island with little more than the clothes on their back, and subject them to numerous challenges that test their strength, cognitive reasoning, strategic prowess, and gag reflexes. Even worse than the established Challenges, will be the challenge to live with each other for nearly 40 days. Season 19 is in Samoa, a group of islands where they make great Girl Scout cookies. Kidding.
What We Expect: Heroes, villains, and the blurring of naughty parts. Oh, and Jeff Probst will be snarky.

CSI
Premiere Date: September 24
Time: 9:00PM EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Nicola
Starring: Marg Helgenberger as Catherine Willows, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Raymond Langston, George Eads as Nick Stokes, Paul Guilfoyle as Capt. Jim Brass, Eric Szmanda as Greg Sanders, Robert David Hall as Dr. Albert Robbins, David Berman as David Phillips, Wallace Langham as David Hodges, Liz Vassey as Wendy Simms.
Program Description: CSI takes the criminal investigation process away from the detectives and out of the courtroom and puts it in the hands of those who make hard evidence talk. Using the lab tools of their trade, brilliant intuition, and good ol’ detective work, the Las Vegas CSI team attempt to solve murders in Sin City.
Where We Left Off: Our newest team member, Ray Langdon (Laurence Fishburne), had to kill a suspect in the line of duty, which put him a bit off kilter. Other than that we’re wide open for new storylines. Sarah Sidle (Jorja Fox) is returning this season for five non-consecutive episodes, and I’m sure we’re all crossing our fingers that Grissom won’t be far behind. And what’s this I hear about a CSI movie?

The Mentalist
Premiere Date: September 24
Time: 10:00 PM EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Liz
Starring: Simon Baker (Patrick Jane), Robin Tunney (Theresa Lisbon), Tim Kang (Kimball Cho), Owain Yeoman (Wayne Rigsby), and Amanda Righetti (Grace Van Pelt).
Program Description: Simon Baker stars as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the fictional California Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his amazing skills of observation (reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes). He also makes frequent use of his mentalist abilities and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium using paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned. He abandoned his pretense out of remorse when his attention-seeking behavior attracted the attention of a serial killer who killed his family. (From Wikipedia.)
Where We Left Off: In the last episode of the season, Jane and the CBI team were hot on the trail of Red John through one of his sidekicks, a law enforcement official with a bone to pick. Jane shoots him in defense of Lisbon and saves her, but with his death the trail back to Red John goes cold — for the moment.

Dexter

TwoCents Reviewer: Valeria
Starring: Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Julie Benz as Rita Bennett, Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan, Lauren Velez as Lt. Maria LaGuerta, David Zayas as Angel Batista with James Remar as Harry Morgan and C.S. Lee as Vincent Masuka.
Program Description: During the day, Dexter Morgan is a jovial employee in the Miami Metropolitan Police Department’s crime lab, but his meticulously crafted life masks his true nature. In reality Dexter is a disciplined and murderous psychopath (a self-admitted “monster”), and he slakes his blood lust at night by carefully killing the serial killers he tracks down during the day. Based on the novels (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark) by Jeff Lindsay.
Where We Left Off: Last season, Dexter decided to embark on a journey that he never thought he could take – the journey down the aisle. In the season finale he married his pregnant girlfriend, Rita, and prepared to become a father. But that was just one development in Dexter’s life. He befriended a hot-shot ADA, Miguel Prado, and revealed his secrets to him. Dexter became a teacher to Miguel, teaching him about the ways of the code, but when Miguel proved to be a danger to Harry’s Code and to Dexter’s secret, he had to be disposed of.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Starring: Glenn Howerton as Dennis Reynolds, Kaitlin Olson as Dee Reynolds, Rob McElhenneyas Mac, Charlie Day as Charlie Kelly, and Danny DeVito as Frank Reynolds
Program Description: The gang at Paddy’s Pub are the most politically incorrect, uncouth, self-obsessed people, with no redeeming social value whatsoever. Good thing they’re the funniest as well.
Where We Left Off: So far the gang has found a dead guy, gone jihad, gotten racist, given back, exploited a miracle, run for office, found a dumpster baby, got taken hostage, solved the North Korea situation, sold out, gotten whacked, danced their asses off, solved the gas crisis, and cracked the Liberty Bell. Expect more outrageous juvenile antics from a show described as “Seinfeld on Crack”.

…Wil Wheaton, Actor

Wil Wheaton Makes An Impression on Leverage

Brittany Frederick – Staff Writer
brittanyw@thetwocentscorp.com

If you’re someone who grew up in the early 90’s, like me, you probably remember Wil Wheaton from his famous role as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. In fact, he’s been steadily acting since then in a variety of projects, while continuing to be an active writer among other things. This week, he dropped in on TNT’s hit caper drama Leverage. Wil sat down with TheTwoCents to discuss his role on the show and what else he can do besides hang out on the Enterprise.

(Please note: HEAVY SPOILERS below for this week’s Leverage!)

Leverage
The Two Live Crew Job

Original Air Date: August 26, 2009

Brittany Frederick – Staff Writer
brittanyw@thetwocentscorp.com

I’ve seen this episode twice in less than a week, and I still am excited. It’s just that good.

Team Leverage is on the case of trying to recover a painting quite important to an elderly couple, which has been acquired by a private buyer on the black market – a buyer not above bribing a judge to keep his paws on it. Their big plan involves the entire team posing as cops and stealing the painting back…but someone has beaten it to them first. In fact, there’s a whole other Not Team Leverage involved, led by a guy that recognizes Sophie. Say it with me now: this is bad.
