The Beautiful Life
Premiere Date: September 16
Time: 9:00 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Nico Tortorella as Kai, Ashley Madekwe as Marissa Delfina, Benjamin Hollingsworth as Chris Andrews, Sara Paxton as Raina Collins, Elle MacPherson as Claudia Foster, Corbin Bleu as Isaac, Mischa Barton as Sonja Stone, Dusan Dukic as Simon Lockridge, and Jordan Woolley as Egan.
Program Description: Beneath the glamour and privileges of a model lies backstabbing, insecurity, jealousy and competition.
What We Expect: Production was stopped for a little while so that Mischa Barton could pull herself together, but we hope that’s not a sign of hiccups to come. We always wanted to know what the cat fights were really like off of the cat walk.

The New Adventures of Old Christine
Premiere Date: September 24
Time: 8:00 PM EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Caitlin
Starring: Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Christine, Clark Gregg as Richard, Hamish Linklater as Matthew, Trevor Gagnon as Ritchie, Emily Rutherfurd as New Christine, Wanda Sykes as Barb, Tricia O’Kelley as Marly, and Alex Kapp Horner as Lindsay
Program Description: Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Seinfeld”) stars in THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE, a comedy about a single mother and owner of a “30-minute workout gym” who is the portrait of the new American mom, albeit with some unflinchingly candid points of view. For her, every day is an adventure, but life is made easier due to the fantastic relationship she shares with her ex-husband. However, everything changes when her ex’s new, younger girlfriend enters the picture, instantly complicating her life.
What We Expect: Last season ended with Richard and New Christine’s wedding- or at least it was supposed to. Things started out well enough, with Christine hooking up with New Christine’s father, Papa Jeff (who she’s initially met before knowing who he was), Matthew becoming attached to New Christine’s half sister Amy, and Barb meeting a random guy at the alter. Except Jeff was not single, Amy was not interested in anything long-term, and Barb’s date was not as sweet as he once seemed. Now everyone’s alone again, and Barb could be deported. To top it all off, after a few stumbles, New Christine left Richard standing at the alter alone. It’s like a comedic soap opera!

Criminal Minds
Premiere Date: September 23
Time: 9:00 PM EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid,
A.J. Cook as Jennifer “J.J” Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia.
Program Description: Revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. The Behavioral Analysis Unit’s most experienced agent is David Rossi, a founding member of the BAU who returns to help the team solve new cases. The team is lead by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, a strong profiler who is able to gain people’s trust and unlock their secrets. Other members include Emily Prentiss, the daughter of high-powered diplomats who used to work with Hotchner; Special Agent Derek Morgan, an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid, a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau, a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team, and Penelope Garcia, a computer wizard who helps research the cases. Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators’ motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them.
What We Expect: While Agents Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Jareau (A.J. Cook) and Morgan (Shemar Moore) profile a killer who is targeting an emergency room doctor, they quickly come to the realization that Hotch is missing, on the fifth season premiere CRIMINAL MINDS.

Like his counterparts in Las Vegas and Miami, Taylor knows that people may lie, but the evidence rarely does. In the city that never sleeps, CSI: NY never rests.
Where We Left Off: In the season finale, a team member is wounded but we don’t know who! It could be any of them!

Hank
Premiere Date: September 30
Time: 8:00 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Kelsey Grammer as Hank, Melinda McGraw as Tilly, David Koechner as Grady, Macey Cruthird as Maddie and Ryan Wynott as Henry.
Program Description: Sometimes scaling back is the best way to get ahead. Wall Street legend Hank Pryor and his wife Tilly have been living the high life in New York City. That is until Hank is forced out of his CEO job and has to move his family back home to the small town of River Bend.
A self-made man, Hank is used to running the show, but now that he’s lost almost everything, can he learn how to hang with his family? The Pryors have had to seriously downsize their lives — even their king-sized bed won’t fit in their modest new home. Tilly’s not too pleased to be back in the same zip code as her family — especially her badgering brother Grady. Hank’s offbeat son Henry worries about fitting in with a new crowd and his daughter Maddie would rather talk on her cell phone than be anywhere near her Dad. But every great businessman knows that the key to success is to turn setbacks into opportunities. Hank has big plans to get ahead in business… and to reconnect with his family. It may take a while for an industrial giant to figure out how to mingle with the little people — like his family — but Hank’s up for the challenge.
What We Except: A solid second chance for Kelsey Grammer! He was robbed on FOX, so here’s hoping this show gets a good chance to thrive. Sure the plot sounds contrived, but what better way to get a family back to its roots?

The Middle
Premiere Date: September 30
Time: 8:30 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axel, Eden Sher as Sue, Atticus Shaffer as Brick and Chris Kattan as Bob.
Program Description: Frankie and her husband, Mike, have lived in Orson, Indiana their whole lives. A man of few words (every one a zinger), Mike is a manager at the town quarry and Frankie is the third-best used car salesman (out of the three) at the local dealership. She may not be a high-powered career woman, but when it comes to her family, she’ll go to just about any length. And with kids like these, she had better. There’s Axel, her semi-nudist teenage son conceived with Guns N’ Roses playing a significant role; Sue, the awkward teenage daughter who fails at everything with great gusto; and their seven-year-old son Brick, whose best friend is his back-pack.
What We Expect: Please, please, please let this show be hilarious and find a following! Neil Flynn – yes please! He was seriously funny as the Janitor on Scrubs, and heck, we even love Patricia Heaton. She was robbed on FOX – robbed! We’re expecting a lot of laughs from this pair.

Modern Family
Premiere Date: September 23
Time: 9:00 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Ed O’Neill as Jay, Sofia Vergara as Gloria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, Ty Burrell as Phil, Julie Bowen as Claire, Sarah Hyland as Haley, Rico Rodriguez as Manny, Nolan Gould as Luke and Ariel Winter as Alex.
Program Description: Today’s American families come in all shapes and sizes. Just ask these three families. Jay recently married Gloria. Now Jay is trying hard to keep up with his much younger and hotter Colombian wife, along with her passionate pre-teen son, Manny. Claire is having a hard time raising her own family. Her husband Phil is great, except that he thinks he’s “down” with their three kids, much to all their embarrassment. And, Mitchell and his enthusiastic partner Cameron have just made a major life change by adopting a Vietnamese baby named Lily.
Shot from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, this comedy takes a modern look at the complications that come with being a family in 2009.
What We Expect: This honestly sounds like the most original idea in programming in a while. We’re thrilled that such a diverse look is being taken at families and how each and every one is different. We’re hoping viewers give this show a chance, because it sounds promising.

Cougar Town
Premiere Date: September 23
Time: 9:30 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Courtney Cox as Jules, Christa Miller as Ellie, Busy Philipps as Laurie, Dan Byrd as Travis, Brian Van Holt as Bobby, Josh Hopkins as Grayson and Ian Gomez as Andy.
Program Description: Can a woman of a certain age be a mom, a successful career woman and still be on the prowl? Jules is about to give it a try.
In a small Florida town, the center of high society is the Cougars high school football team… which is wildly appropriate since this town is the natural habitat for over-tanned, under-dressed divorcées prowling for younger men. Jules desperately doesn’t want to be one of them, but with an ugly divorce behind her and 40 staring right back at her, she’s longing for a little more action in her life. The available men her own age, like her silver fox of a neighbor, Grayson Ellis, only seem interested in dating barely legal hotties. Egged on by her very married and very irreverent best friend Ellie and her determined assistant Laurie, Jules reluctantly dips her toe back into the dating pool. To her surprise, she hits it off with a nice young guy named Matt — emphasis on the young — and discovers this gal still has the goods.
What We Expect: It’s still hard to believe that this is actually a real show, but now that it’s coming along, we’re hoping for amusing and awkward dates between the cougars and the young guys.

Eastwick
Premiere Date: September 23
Time: 10:00 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Brittany D.
Starring: Rebecca Romijn as Roxie Torcoletti, Lindsay Price as Joanna Frankel, Jamie Ray Newman as Kat Gardener, Paul Gross as Darryl Van Horne, Sara Rue as Penny, Veronica Cartwright as Bun, Johann Urb as Will, Jon Bernthal as Raymond and Ashley Benson as Mia.
Program Description: In the seaside village of Eastwick, three very different women are about to discover some bewitching talents they never knew they had. And once they get together– watch out. Something wicked is coming their way.
There was a time when Roxanne, Kat and Joanna didn’t get along because of their preconceived notions of each other. Roxie was the extroverted artist, Kat the overworked wife and mom, and Joanna the wallflower local reporter. But after a weird encounter in the park, coupled with a few martinis, these three women have suddenly become fast friends.
When the mysterious Daryl Van Horne arrives in town, he manages to bring the women even closer. His wealth, charisma and bad boy sex appeal are an irresistible combination for the three ladies. What’s even more dangerous is that he unleashes their unique powers in ways they never could have imagined. But by igniting their hearts’ desires, he might just be opening Pandora’s Box.
Eastwick will be turned upside down as these enchanting women come into their own. Although bad for a few locals, it’s still the best thing to happen to this small New England town in centuries.
What We Expect: No Cher? No Jack Nicholson? It’ll take a lot to get us to put the movie out of our minds, but with a well executed series premiere, it’ll be easy.

2009 Fall Preview – CW – Tuesdays

Kids in the early – mid 90s would sit around in dorm rooms across the country watching 90210 and Melrose Place. They say everything old is new again and CW is looking to prove that on Tuesday nights – but are we kids of the mid-90s old already!?!

90210
Premiere Date: September 8
Time: 8:00 EST
TwoCents Reviewer: OPEN
Starring: Travis Van Winkle as Jamie, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Mat Lanter as Liam Court, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Stroup as Erin ‘Silver’ Silver, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan, and Lori Loughlin as Debbie Wilson
Program Description: “You wanna live in the zip, you’ve gotta live by the code.”
Based on the 1990s FOX hit, Beverly Hills, 90210, the series revolves around the three-generational Wilson family. The Wilsons have recently moved from small town Kansas to glitzy Beverly Hills, California after the father, Harrison Wilson, accepts a position as Principal of West Beverly Hills High School.
Where We Left Off: Adrianna and Navid had to leave the prom when Adrianna went into labor. Dixon confronted Ethan about Silver when he realized that Ethan might be developing feelings for his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Annie reached the breaking point when Naomi accused her of trying to hook up with Liam, and some ‘friends’ decided to take both verbal and physical action against her.

2009 Fall Preview – CBS – Tuesdays

If you fell unfulfilled after the first hour of NCIS on Tuesday nights, don’t worry, CBS has hooked up up with another whole hour of NCIS goodness! Then you can digest all that NCIS while welcoming back Julianna Marquilles to television.

NCIS
Premiere Date: September 22
Time: 8:00 PM EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Angelique
Starring: Mark Harmon – Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Michael Weatherly – Anthony Dinozzo, David McCallum – Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard, Pauley Perrette – Abby Sciuto, Sean Murray – Timothy McGee/Thom E. Gemcity, Coté de Pablo – Ziva David, Rocky Carroll – Leon Vance, Brian Dietzen – Jimmy Palmer
Program Description: A team of special agents investigate criminal cases involving Navy and Marine personnel, handled by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Where We Left Off: Tony is responsible for killing Mossad agent Michael Rivkin, who happens to be Ziva’s boyfriend, lover whatever you want to call it. Ziva, Gibbs, Tony and Vance go back to Tel Aviv where the degrating friendship between Tony and Ziva causes even more problems. Ziva basically asks Gibbs to choose between her and Tony. He leaves her behind, after all she has Mossad while Tony has nothing besides NCIS. Ziva’s father sends her on a mission, but her cover is compromised and she is caught. The last image of Ziva is a badly bruised and tourtured one, the question is will Gibbs and the others be in time to save her.

NCIS: Los Angeles
Premiere Date: September 22
Time: 9:00 pm EST
TwoCents Reviewer: Annette
Starring: Chris O’Donnell as “G” Callen, LL Cool J as Sam Hanna, Louise Lombard as Lara Macy, Daniela Ruah as Kensi Lo, and Peter Cambor as Nate Getz
Program Description: A spin-off of the increasingly popular NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles is a drama about the high stakes world of undercover surveillance at the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation’s security. By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets.
What We Expect: NCIS: Los Angeles was introduced during the 6th season of NCIS in an episode entitled “Legend.” At the end of “Legend,” Chris O’Donnell’s character was gunned down in the streets, but we learn during NCIS that he survives the shooting. I imagine NCIS: LA will pick up the story with the Special Ops team investigating and trying to track down the shooters. I’m figuring that this will not be resolved in one episode, but arc throughout the entire season. From the “Legend” episode, it seems like this series will be a little more intense than NCIS, but let’s hope that it also has the humor that we’ve come to love in NCIS.

The Devil’s in the Details…and in the Upstairs Bedroom

Original Air Date: August 28, 2009

Em – TwoCents Reviewer
em@thetwocentscorp.com

Shawn’s skepticism takes center stage in this week’s episode of Psych. First, Little Shawn makes a scene in Sunday school when he starts arguing over the details in the story of Noah’s ark. Fast forward to the present, and Shawn is still a Doubting Thomas. When a girl falls to her death at a Catholic school, he refuses to accept either the cops’ idea that she was murdered, or Father Westley’s proclamation that dearly departed Agatha was possessed.
