Idol, 24 And More Set For FOX’s Midseason Schedule

FOX announced premiere dates of new and returning series as well as revisions to its 2009-2010 midseason schedule. FOX also has ordered a full season of the sophomore drama LIE TO ME.

January starts off on a high note when the ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL, television’s No. 1 series, begins with a two-night premiere Tuesday, Jan. 12 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesday, Jan. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Immediately following AMERICAN IDOL on Jan. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), FOX unveils the not-to-be-missed series debut of OUR LITTLE GENIUS, a new unscripted series that features America’s most gifted kids as they are tested with some of the most challenging and difficult questions that only a remarkable little genius could answer.

Psych Is Back For Season 5

“USA Network has renewed the crime comedy for a fifth season with a 16-episode order.

“Psych,” starring James Roday as a fake psychic with great observational skills and Dule Hill as his best friend and partner in their police consulting business, was a breakout hit for the network when it launched in July 2006 as the highest-rated USA series debut.

The series, from Universal Cable Prods. and creator Steve Franks, has consistently delivered solid ratings, especially in the younger demographics.

Kelly Will Be Regis-Less For A While

THR: “Regis Philbin will be taking a leave of absence from his long-running ABC daytime talk show to undergo a hip replacement surgery.

Philbin, 78, made the announcement Monday on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” which is broadcasting from Las Vegas this week.

“I’ve been limping around here; it really is painful,” Regis said at the end of the show’s opening segment.

His surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday, after the show’s crew returns to New York, he said.

Philbin didn’t give a firm return date, saying only, “I’ll be back next year.”

Wanna Watch Twilight? FX Is Going To Make It Happen

Yes, it’s never too early to wonder which network will hold the rights to the national broadcast of the sensation that is Twilight. For the vampire fans – FX will deliver.

According to The Hollywood Reporter: “The “Twilight Saga” franchise is headed to FX.

FX has acquired the ad-supported TV rights to the four “Twilight” movies in a package deal with producer Summit Entertainment that also includes the indie studio’s Oscar hopeful “The Hurt Locker,” the Nicolas Cage thriller “Knowing” and actioner “Push.”

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert

The unique four-hour music event THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME CONCERT debuts Thanksgiving weekend on SUNDAY, NOV. 29 (8:00 p.m.-12:10 a.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Featuring performances from two groundbreaking concerts held Oct. 29 and 30 at Madison Square Garden, the special is anchored by iconic musicians that include Jeff Beck Band, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Aretha Franklin, Metallica, Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, U2 and Stevie Wonder.

The live concerts celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The two nights featured different lineups, with artists performing their own songs and the music that inspired them – tracing the history of genres ranging from soul to hard rock.

Each of the artists overseeing a different segment of the concerts was joined by special guests to create unique performances. Guests included Black Eyed Peas, Jackson Browne, Ray Davies, Dion, John Fogerty, Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Billy Joel, B.B. King, John Legend, Annie Lennox, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Darlene Love, Sam Moore, Tom Morello, Ozzy Osbourne, Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed, Smokey Robinson, Patti Smith, Sting and James Taylor.

If last week’s episode was a return to form, this week’s episode was Castle at the top of its game. The witty banter returned in premium fashion and the murder was less twisty than weeks past. It all begins with a scantily clad woman trying to shove an empty pizza box into the garbage when a dead body comes sliding down the chute. Don’t you hate it when that happens?
