So it begins – the final two-part adventure for David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, possibly the most popular Doctor in the history of Doctor Who. It’s also the swan song for creator and lead writer Russell T. Davies. Expectations are high to say the least. Can this first part live up to them? Only one way to find out…

Dear TV Claus

Dear TV Claus,

1. Can you give Michael Symon another show on the Food Network? I really could watch him all day long, and a couple episodes a year of Iron Chef America are not enough.

2. Please resurrect Pushing Daisies. There’s nothing else as funny or smart and it didn’t deserve an early demise.

3. If you can’t bring PD back, please give Kristin Chenowith and Chi McBride each their own series. They definitely deserve it.

Glee Best TV of ’09

photo: fox

Glee may be on a 4-month hiatus after only a dozen episodes, but so far, viewers love it.

According to the Celebrity News Service, viewers voted Glee the best show of 2009. A few of the reasons include “Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester is a character you love to hate, while the rest of the young cast makes star-making turns.”

The rest of the list are:
2. True Blood
3. Modern Family
4. Desperate Housewives
5. Gossip Girl
6. 30 Rock
7. Ugly Betty
8. Dexter
9. Vampire Diaries
10. Top Chef (Las Vegas)
Honorable Mention: Lost, American Idol, Family Guy

Are your favorites (old or new), on the best of 09 list? What would you have added? Leave your two cents below!

Ricky Gervais Coming Back To HBO – Animated!

the ricky gervais show

The Ricky Gervais Show, a 13-episode animated comedy series based on the record-breaking podcast, debuts FRIDAY, FEB. 19 (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Voiced by Ricky Gervais, his longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant and colleague and friend Karl Pilkington, whose offbeat musings inspire many of the storylines, the show’s debut will be followed by the second-season debut of “The Life and Times of Tim.”

The Ricky Gervais Show animates podcasts that first appeared on The Guardian website, and subsequently earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads. Topics covered include: the merits of 20th century inventions; Karl’s suggestion for population control; philosophy through the ages; Karl’s round head; and thoughts on charity. Regular features include a “Monkey News” segment and excerpts from Karl’s journal, read by Stephen.

Dear TV Claus,

This Holiday season I’d like:

1. Better writers for Saturday Night Live. Aside from Weekend Update and most Digital Shorts, watching that show can be straight-up torture.

2. Bravo to stop trying to recreate the magic that was “Project Runway” with shows like “The Fashion Show” and “Launch My Line.” It’s embarrassing.

3. Parts 1 and 2 of the Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The End of Time,” to be as epic and amazing as I hope it will.

The Sing Off – Recap & Review – The Finale

The Sing Off
The Finale

Original Air Date: Dec 21, 2009

The day before the finale, I had a Sing Off marathon. I sat down and watched every episode again. Yes, all 6 hours of musical love. I may have hit rewind a time or two, so much so I noticed one of the Bubs ripped his pants on night 3. But I digress. When finale time came, I shut down the computer, grabbed a snack, and settled in for 2 hours of hopeful amazingness. I will confess right now that I’ve already seen the finale – twice. I’ve seen the awesomeness (and some not so awesomeness) that was The Sing Off finale and I know who wins. But for now, I will keep that all a secret until the end. However, you are more than welcome to skip to the end, see who won, and come back to the beginning. So grab a snack and here we go!

Dear TV Claus,

I promise that thing that happened that one time was a total fluke. Here’s my wish list:

1. Please let Travis Wall do more and more choreography for So You Think You Can Dance.

2. Can Booth and Bones just be together already? I really want them to be happy together.

3. While we’re talking about Bones, can she just pick a new intern already? The rotation is making me dizzy.

The Top 5 Things I Learned from Survivor 19

Natalie: She may not think she’s riding coattails, but she totally is. I respect the whole flying-under-the-radar strategy more that aligning yourself with the most powerful player. Unless… that most powerful player is also the most hated player… I’ll get back to you on that one.
