With 31 Golden Tickets handed out, Orlando showed almost three times the talent of Chicago. And Wednesday’s episode proved far more entertaining as well. More good singers, one crazy who ended up in handcuffs and one pair of split pants (now that really fits the song “Pants on the Ground”).

As part of a continuing strategy to expand its slate of original programming, TNT has given the greenlight to three new original series: a bold alien-invasion series from DreamWorks Television and Steven Spielberg that stars Noah Wyle (ER, TNT’s The Librarian movies); Delta Blues (working title), an offbeat series starring Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) and Alfre Woodard (Three Rivers) and produced for TNT by George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon Television; and Rizzoli & Isles (working title), a crime drama starring Angie Harmon (Law & Order, Women’s Murder Club) and Sasha Alexander (NCIS), based on Tess Gerritsen’s popular mystery novels and produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Ostar Productions.

Nip/Tuck – Recap & Review – Joel Seabrook

Nip/Tuck
Joel Seabrook

Alert: Contains Possible Spoiler

The opening scene with Joel Seabrook is one of my favorite consults in the history of this show. Questioned by both Sean and Christian, Seabrook (Tim Guinee) recounts his suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge, which resulted in his current disfigurement. In a beautifully written scene, his entire story unfolds, from the despair that put him on the bridge, the second thoughts as the impact approached, and his changed attitude upon his rescue. On paper, it’s a huge character arc, and Guinee plays it with a fantastic restraint, truly a man who has been changed, despite his scars.

So Maya is pregnant. That was our only preview going in to this week. Although our other story lines are still dragging out, like Charlotte and Cooper still hating each other and Violet still not acknowledging Lucas. The “info” from my cable guide says there’s also a story that goes on between Pete and Dr. Fife over a patient with a bionic arm (you know Fife and his antics) so that should add in some extra drama. Should be an interesting episode.

Ed Helms Serenades Conan

photo: nbc

The Office‘s Ed Helms stopped by The Tonight Show to surprise (and support) his friend Conan…

…and he brought his piano.

Ed sang a song about Conan’s current… er… troubles (we’re on Team Conan, by the way!) set to the tune of his hilarious song from The Hangover. It’s a very entertaining appearance, and reminds us why we love the “Nard Dog! (As if we needed any reminders!)

I was worried when this began that it was going to be just another version of A Higher Power, but I am so glad I was wrong. I am glad they brought Jim Clemente back. He wrote Lessons Learned way back in 2006, and I hope it doesn’t take four years for him to write another episode, if this is the way they’re going to be.

CBS today announced the 11 Teams set to compete in the 16th edition of THE AMAZING RACE, premiering Sunday, Feb. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Emmy Award nominee Phil Keoghan is the host.

Contestants will travel nearly 40,000 miles across five continents and eight countries. The Teams’ first destination lies in Chile where they will encounter one of the most daunting Roadblocks in the history of the series. In their ongoing battle for the one million dollar prize, Teams will participate in a grueling World War I reenactment in France, retrace the early days of the iconic rock group, The Beatles, and come face-to-face with one of the world’s most infamous villains.
