Don’t Throw That at the Chicken

First off … favorite title ever.

The advice is given from Joe Tobin to his son Kevin. The scene reflects his promise to his wife to make things right. His time with Kevin seems to capture something that Joe never had with his own father.

In fact, parenting comes into play quite a bit this week, as Michael resurfaces for lunch with Patty. He paints his mom a rosy picture of a new job and a new life without Jill, the older woman Patty had disapproved of. But when he returns home, we see that not only is he still living with Jill, he is a starving artist, and Jill is expecting their child. Of course, it’s up for grabs whether Patty believed him in the first place.

Remember that episode a few seasons ago where pretty much the entire hour was naked Jack getting tortured? My first thought this week was “I hope this episode isn’t like that one, because I lost my appetite after that one.”

Yet the episode leads with more dramatics involving Dana, Kevin and creepy crush boy Arlo, and I tune out for the next seven minutes. At least until we find Jack, who is – you guessed it – being interrogated and tortured by the Russians. He gets tortured at least once a season.

TwoCents and Five Questions With…

photo: tnt

Tom Everett Scott, actor (Detective Clarke)

When Southland was given the ax by NBC to make room for The Jay Leno Show, fans were in an uproar. There were only six episodes in and they wanted more. Thanks to petitions and message boards and letters to anyone who would listen, nitty-gritty TNT picked up the cop drama.

The show got a new life, with TNT airing the original six episodes, as well as the remaining that had been shot. These made up season one, which will be wrapping up next week. New episodes will begin to air on March 2nd and will be the official season two. To promote the new season, some of the actors of the show were nice enough to sit down with TheTwoCents to answer some questions about the show and more.

The Griffins go camping but Stewie and Chris get lost when Chris chases a butterfly. Pretty soon everyone is assuming the worst so Lois’ father convinces her to go see a psychic (a Medium) to get answers. She assures Lois that her babies will be found. Meanwhile, the ridiculously overly gay character stumbles onto Chris and Stewie in the woods and reunites them with Lois and Peter.

Big Love – Recap & Review – Under One Roof

Bill and Barb are at dinner with their brother and sister in law (I think that’s who they are, technically) and Barb spots Anna- who is now pregnant. She alludes to the point that it’s Bill’s baby but she didnt want to burden them with that information. Interesting. Bill has been wanting more kids. Lots more kids. Crazy man! But wasn’t Anna like a million years ago? His campaign is in it’s final weeks and he’s also trying to expand the casino business. The tribal leader guy (Tommy’s Dad) is bringing in Marilyn to hear her official pitch.

It seems like it’s been forever since we had a new Cold Case, but this one more than made up for the wait. In “Bombers,” we explore graffiti-art culture (and here I was thinking it was plain old vandalism!) in investigating the 1982 death of a young painter. “Bombing,” it turns out, is slang for graffiti…but some of our detectives got bombed with some pretty heavy personal stuff, too.

This week has been filled with Valentine’s Day episodes. And I’m over it. This is the fourth (I think?) recap I’ve written about the corporate holiday and I’m done. With that being said, I’m also over vampires. So, if I get a bit snarky during this recap, it’s because V-day and vampire-related movies/TV shows are two things I hate the most and that is what tonight’s show is all about. You might enjoy it, so feel free to argue against me below. 🙂

Valentine’s Day Massacre

Hey guys and gals. Tom is busy this week being a big important business guy, so I’m here again. As has been the same with every other show this week, it’s Valentine’s Day at Seattle Grace. As we saw in the previews though, nothing is lovely about it. Lexie went blond and has McSteamy up in arms about it and a roof collapsed at a restaurant on the busiest day of their year. What will this bring to our doctors? Surely not chocolate and roses, although we all know this stuff makes Cristina happy!
