Mr. Finn Abernathy is back as our intern of the night and he is still seeing Michele, and Michele is putting him in the awkward position of not telling Cam she is in town. As for our case: a young teen is dead and it looks like a party got a bit out of hand leaving him dead and a young girl with a secret to tell. Sweets shows just how sweet he can be as he connects with the girl and shares a secret of his own.

OK, let’s get started….

TwoCents and Five Questions with Betty White

Betty White, Television Icon

Where do I start on Betty White? My feelings haven’t changed since I interviewed her a year ago. She’s my idol, my Golden Girl. Her iconic roles over the years have included, of course, Rose Nylund on Golden Girls, Sue Ann Nivens on Mary Tyler Moore, Ellen Harper Jackson on Mama’s Family, Catherine Piper on Private Practice and Boston Legal, and most recently as Elka Ostrovsky on Hot In Cleveland. Betty just turned 90 for the second time and shows no signs of stopping. She and her friends are in their second season of pulling pranks on young people on NBC’s Betty White’s Off Their Rockers. I got another chance to participate in a conference call with her recently and here is what she had to say about the state of her life.

TheTwoCents: I’ve always enjoyed your appearances on late night talk shows where you’re known for telling rather risqué stories. Do you feel your spicy humor and sense of mischief help keep you young?

Trial And Error

Apparently in Dallas you can confess to attempted murder, go to trial, and have a verdict quicker than you can get divorced. At least that’s the case in this episode, where Ann goes on trial for shooting Harris Ryland.

At this point, Ann is probably the weakest Dallas character. It’s nothing against Brenda Strong, but most of the Ann-centric plot has had her in tears, with the exceptions of the few times she’s picked up a gun. And therein lies the problem with Ann Smith Ryland Ewing… she’s kind of a wimp.

If the last few episodes have been all about deaf culture, with minimal relationship emphasis, this was the hour that brought relationships front and center. Well, mostly Bay’s relationships with a side of Toby and Daphne. But I’m pretty sure there is an EBay/BEmmett fan base out there that is quite excited.

But despite all of the relationship drama, the MVP of the hour was solidly Katie Leclerc. I know it’s not often that non-premium cable shows get Emmy love, but Katie Leclerc should really be sure to submit her scene from the pizza place parking lot with Travis this evening. With nary a verbal line of dialogue, it was one of the most powerful and impassioned moments of the show to date.

There have been several episodes of HIMYM based largely around flashbacks. Some are just for fun, but some end up having a significant part in the show’s overall storyline. This is one of the latter, though we don’t learn why until the last couple minutes.

It’s been a while since we last saw Zoey, one of Ted’s many ex-girlfriends. It’s been even longer since we saw her former husband, better known as The Captain. As such, his calling Ted out of the blue comes as a surprise.

Before I start this review, can we all just have a round of applause for how great a character Elsbeth is? It seems that, no matter the case, she is unstoppable. Plus, she’s funny, and this episode could use all the funny it could get.

With the exception of Elsbeth, this had to be the darkest episode in several seasons. Before the show’s short hiatus, we learned that the partners had offered partnership to five fourth years, including Alicia. But at the start of this episode, that celebratory mood in the air came to a crashing halt.

Last week, Amanda and Jack were married and left for their honeymoon on the Amanda, with a stowaway of their own (ironic, isn’t it?) – Nate Ryan. Padma told Nolan that she was being blackmailed by the Initiative. Amanda used video proof that the Grayson’s were involved with the downing of Flight 197 to convince Conrad into letting Jack by the Stowaway back. Victoria shot and killed Helen Crowley after she threatened to hurt Daniel.

This week starts with a diver reaching wreckage of the Amanda finding a photo of Jack, Declan, and their father as well as a gold compass. In the wreckage we also see the hand of a man with a wedding ring. The scene changes and Amanda and Jack are in the bedroom of the Amanda. The photo the diver found is sitting on the headboard and the compass falls on the floor while Jack and Amanda make love. The camera focusses for a second on Jack and Amanda’s wedding rings. Jack and Amanda move above deck and we see Nate, hiding in the closet. He is also wearing a wedding ring.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Emily Deschanel (Bones)

what's coming for bones?

what’s coming for bones?

Emily Deschanel, Actor

Emily Deschanel has played Temperance “Bones” Brennan for eight seasons now. Bones recently got renewed for a ninth season, so she’s obviously doing a great job. Along the way she’s also guest starred in movies such as Glory Road, My Sister’s Keeper, and The Perfect Family. She also had a baby, which was somewhat controversially written into the show. I, personally, don’t think it changed the tone that much. We all knew Bones & Booth (David Boreanaz) would get together eventually. But will last week’s “The Shot in the Dark” episode change the way we see Brennan? She was shot while working in the lab and we were given a glimpse into why she is so “Bones.” Read on for her take and what we can expect for the rest of season eight!

TheTwoCents: Can you talk about how “Bones” will change over the season after last week’s episode?
