I was talking with a friend of mine about last week’s episode, and she told me that she was becoming a little bored with this season already.

I found myself wondering if this episode would change her mind. I’m reminded of the second episode of another great FOX show, Human Target, which proved that it could deliver a compelling episode in a confined space relying merely on the strength of its characters. Now here’s an episode of 24 with its ‘A’ story in a confined space…will it, too, deliver? Only one way to find out.

TwoCents & Five Questions With Jeff Eastin

…Jeff Eastin, Creator

White Collar is appointment TV for me on Tuesday nights. It may be one of the most literate series on television, with its chess games and literature references, but it may also be the most-well cast series on television, with an ensemble that hits all the right notes. The man who pulls all these pieces together is series creator Jeff Eastin, who sat down with us to discuss the show as it comes to the end of its first fabulous season.

TheTwoCents: One of the things that’s always impressed me about the show is you guys have such a great structure. Not only do we have a really compelling case, but you also manage to develop moments about the characters and you also continue the ongoing mythology that’s going on with Kate. I always come away feeling smarter about all of these things and I don’t feel anything’s ever missing. How do you guys pull that all together?

My TwoCents – “Near Dark” (Video)

Congratulations to Kathryn Bigelow for being the first woman to receive the Academy Award for Best Director. In honor of that, I recommend checking out her first solo effort, Near Dark (1987).

Long before True Blood explored the concept of a vampire subculture, Bigelow directed and co-wrote this tale of a nomadic, bloodsucking “family” in Western America. Oddly enough, the word “vampire” is never used in the film, which is an interesting mix of horror and western outlaw genres. It’s interesting to see how the director developed her visual style.

The cowboys have been pretty lucky the last few weeks … but can it last forever? The previews this week have the teams separating from their partners and pairing off together. How will that work?

Big Love
End of Days

Original Air Date: Mar 07, 2010

Thomas Nikl – Staff Writer
thomas@thetwocentscorps.com

JJ is hiding Adeline and basically keeping her drugged up so she doesn’t spill the beans on anything. JJ seems to be hoping (or trying to facilitate) Adeline dying while giving birth. Bill talks to one of his Congressman pals about his Marilyn problems. And soon she shows up in Bill’s office. She tries to tempt him with the idea of being a Congressman in two years. Bill calls her a thief and is basically giving her a taste of her own medicine and she doesn’t like it. But it could all be a Marilyn act. And the wives get to pick out new outfits for the big two final campaign days. Nicki is kind of copying Barb’s style and she wants to know why and Margie spills the beans that Nicki just found out she’s basically infertile.

My TwoCents: Who Do You Think You Are

I’ll admit it. I’m a family history buff. I find history, or more specifically MY history within historical events in general, quite fascinating. When I started seeing the commercials for NBC’s new series Who Do You Think You Are during the Olympics (actually, I was getting hit over the head by them), I got very excited.

See, my maiden name is Parker and I have a direct ancestor who was hung as a witch in Salem in 1692. Perhaps Sarah Jessica Parker and I are cousins? Alas, no. Her ancestor made it out of the witch hysteria alive.
