Give me one good reason that we shouldn’t just bequeath Crystal Bowersox the S9 crown right now? For the first time this season, I am probably downloading a contestant’s song from iTunes and it ain’t Paige Miles’ limp and depressing “Smile”!

With only eight women to perform, we finally got the show in one hour instead of two. But it was tight, which meant that the judges had to be succinct. Thank goodness.

TwoCents and Five Questions With Simon Cowell

photo: fox

Simon Cowell, Judge

TheTwoCents: How do you think Ellen is doing and the rumors that you don’t get along?

Simon Cowell: I’ll tell you why I think Ellen was a good choice. She actually is very responsible for people she has performing on her own show. I know that for a fact because I’ve dealt with her as a record label. And she loves music and she’s been an artist.

As soon as I read the title for this week’s episode, I knew it was going to be a good episode. All season I’ve been complaining that we got to see way too little Ben, and this week delivered the (adorable, sweater vest-clad) goods.

The episode began with Ben running through the jungle, somehow having forgotten that badasses never run. They just walk slowly until people get killed.

TwoCents & Five Questions With Jermaine Sellers

sellers

Jermaine Sellers, Reality Star

Continuing our conversations with the four contestants voted off American Idol last night, we catch up with Jermaine Sellers.

Jermaine was eliminated last week after singing “What’s Going On”. Don’t worry about Jermaine though, he knows people in high places!

TheTwoCents: You were very outspoken about your faith. Do you think that influenced anything, as far as your elimination?
Jermaine Sellers: Though I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Because sometimes the camera could make you look more arrogant and because anybody that knows me knows that I’m like the coolest guy. I like to make people laugh, I honestly do. I hate it that I was made out to look like something that I’m not, but it’s television.

Cougar Town – Recap & Review – Counting On You

“I spent so much time trying to separate romance and friendship, I guess if you’re lucky, you get both.” (Jules, while talking to Grayson)

I miss Scott Foley being on Cougar Town. I thought he and Jules were great together. And if Grayson and Jules are gonna take a few seasons to be together and Jules is gonna stop dating hot young guys, why can’t we get some more Noel, I mean Scott? (If you don’t get the reference, ask a friend…hehe.) We know Bobby and Grayson like her and Bobby already “went there” and got rejected and Grayson is not ready to “go there” yet, so what will we see in the meantime? I vote more Scott. Who’s with me? Okay then…now that I got that off my chest, time for tonight’s show, which does not involve Scott Foley.

Welcome back to Parenthood. To families that don’t have it easy all of the time, who have real issues that are familiar to all of us. I’m already invested in how the issues with Max will pan out and how Sarah’s relationship with her kids is going to go. And I already have this theory about Zeek and his wife, but we have to get to the end of the recap first!

“One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them...”

And bind them it certainly did, but we’ll get to that in a second. After following someone who looked like Adam West to a garage sale, the boys bring home a random box o’ stuff they got for $60. They lucked out with probably the geekiest box ever, which includes an ALF doll that reminds Howard of when his father left and he imagined he was on the planet Melmac (so sad!). While Raj is inappropriately rubbing obscene graffiti off an Aquaman doll, Sheldon finds a replica of the LotR ring.

It looks like all the little lies Chuck has been telling for the last three years are finally catching up to him. Last week Lana hit the bricks because of Chuck’s inability to tell her the truth about himself.

Ellie has been snooping around. Captain Awesome is a shadow of his former awesome self and Morgan “The Bearded One” had finally reached his limit.

Tonight’s episode was directed by Zach Levy. If you’d like to read about how Chuck’s directorial debut borrowed from/paid homage to another famous director please Continue reading

How I Met Your Mother is bringing out the guest stars! Last week it was Carrie Underwood, and this week; Jennifer Lopez. I miss the subtle glimpses into who the mother is, but I’m for sure am enjoying the humor.

The episode starts with the police questioning Barney as to why they had to pull him out of the Hudson River. He gets into his story; and believe me, it was great!

Castle – Recap & Review – The Mistress Always Spanks Twice

Castle
The Mistress Always Spanks Twice

Original Air Date: Mar 8, 2010

Karen Belgrad – TwoCents Reviewer
karenbelgrad @thetwocentscorp.com

After a long month of waiting, Castle finally returned to us last night. The episode had leather cuffs, playground equipment, caramel sauce, inappropriate reveals, and a dead PhD candidate. And that was just at the crime scene! And thus our mystery begins… Was it the boyfriend, the dominatrix, or some other nefarious lead?

Castle starts his day bantering adorably with Alexis and Martha. The scrambling of parent/child roles was fun in this episode. Alexis’s sudden cheerleader ambitions were almost out of character, but desire to diversify for college applications was right in her wheel house.
