If I have to take the title of this episode at face value, I’ll go out on a limb and say ‘The Deep End of the Pool’ is about being thrown head first into murky territory. No floaties, no deep breaths. Someone throws you in and expects you to swim, when in reality, maybe we’re all just doing our best to tread water.

Gossip Girl – Recap & Review – The Lady Vanished

Gossip Girl
The Lady Vanished

Original Air Date: Mar 15, 2010

Farrah Kaye – Associate Editor
farrah@thetwocentscorp.com

I’m going to be honest with you: I have lost all interest in this show. I can’t even remember what happened last week and I’m more interested in the fact that “Eric” was over on Mercy (great show by the way!) guest-starring opposite “Georgina” than I am who the lady at Daddy Bass’ grave is. What’s even more disturbing is that CW has created a reality version of this show. How “real” it is … I’m not sure. But, there still is a loyal following and until the show is canceled, I have invested too much time in these characters to not see where they end up. So what does that mean? I will watch every single minute of this show until the end. And you’re coming with me!

This week I’m going to try something a little different. Instead of long, boring recap laced with my opinions about the goings on in Buymoria I’m going to rundown the highlights of the show, ask some questions and impart some commentary. Don’t care for this and wish I’d go back to my long, boring stories that nobody reads? Leave a comment in the comments section below. The dude abides.

“Reputations die hard.” – Arthur Frobisher

As Frobisher (Ted Danson) returns to the cast of characters, he offers both the title and the quote listed above. Looking for redemption by funding wind power research, he finds that people still see him as a monster. But of course, he is not the only character struggling with a bad reputation.

TwoCents and Five Questions With… Seth MacFarlane And The Creative Minds of Family Guy (Paley Fest)

…The Creative Minds of Family Guy
Exclusive From Paley Fest 2010

Family Guy and its associated empire: it’s either love it or hate it. For most of us, though, we love it – love it enough to rescue the show from not one but two cancellations and spawn two spinoff series.

Tuesday night at PaleyFest, I had the chance to interview several of its quirky creative minds on the red carpet, and here’s a collection of what they said about being caught up in a cultural phenomenon.

Executive Producer Steve Marmel on the staff reaction to South Park’s “Cartoon Wars” episode (which lampooned the Family Guy writers by suggesting they were merely manatees in a tank randomly stringing concepts together):
“It was funny. We offend everyone. What were we going to do, complain?”

Innocence

Original Air Date: Mar 15, 2010

Brittany Frederick – Staff Writer

For once, we open the show without a corpse. Yet. Lupo and Bernard get called out because someone thinks he recognized a murder suspect in an apartment building. A chase ensues through said suspect’s apartment, and his mom throws a lamp.

Outside, he’s hauled off in front of an angry lynch mob that calls him a “gay basher.” This is a big, unruly mob if I’ve ever seen one.

One of the things I’ve learned from watching 24 is that there are either smart people, or really stupid people. Smart is trying to escape out the window when you know you’re in a hotel room with a terrorist.

Stupid is moving your SWAT guys across the street in plain sight to tip off the terrorist. Really stupid is ignoring Jack Bauer.

House – Recap & Review – Black Hole

House
Black Hole

Original Air date: Mar 15, 2010

Shannon – Associate Editor
shannon@thetwocentscorp.com

Space, the final frontier. This looks like the opening to Star Trek. Two kids are in a planetarium drinking and talking during a lecture. The girl, Abby, starts foaming at the mouth and not breathing. Way to ruin the field trip, Abby.

House is eating cereal and toast on the sofa (the only piece of furniture in the room) and Wilson gripes at him about not having a napkin under his jelly toast. House grouses that he wouldn’t have to dine on the sofa if they had a table. They bicker and argue and House tells him to either buy some furniture or admit he’s empty inside.
