True heroes are rare on the FX network. Rescue Me’s Tommy Gavin, for example, may pull people out of burning buildings, but it’s tough to trust him off duty. The Shield buried its two noble cops (Dutch and Claudette) beneath the muck of corruption and violence. Raylan Givens of Justified is an exception to the rule, which makes for a unique and refreshing change.

TwoCents & Five Questions With Katelyn Epperling

photo: fox

… Katelyn Epperling, Reality Contestant

Last week, contestant Katelyn Epperling was a surprise elimination as the judges had highly praised her rendition of “The Scientist” two weeks ago, but were not as forgiving of her other performances.

As we get ready to see who the first of the Top 12 will be going home, we caught up with Katelyn and she shared her TwoCents on the American Idol experience.

The Two Cents: Do you feel like the judges were too hard on you?
Katelyn Epperly: They were definitely more critical towards me. I’m not sure if it’s possibly because I’ve been performing for so long they maybe expected more out of me than what I was giving them. But, you know, I started out on a pretty strong note, so maybe I didn’t live up to their expectations week-by-week.

Discovery Puts Bear Grylls In Worst Case Scenario

photo: discovery

Discovery Channel’s all-new six-part series WORST CASE SCENARIO has begun filming. The original series, based on the bestselling series of books with the same name, premieres this spring on Discovery Channel.

On the show, survival expert and MAN VS. WILD host Bear Grylls portrays potentially life-threatening situations to demonstrate how to survive in a worst case scenario.

Filmed like a feature film, Grylls pushes his physical boundaries – part stuntman, part urban survivalist – to exhibit scenarios that viewers could find themselves in and equip them with potentially life-saving information.

In each episode, Grylls shows viewers that the right knowledge and skills can help anyone succeed in urban survival situations that could arise without warning, from escaping a high-rise apartment fire to fending off a shark attack to escaping out of a sinking car.

Mythbusters Returns ALL NEW On March 24

photo: discovery channel

Mythbusters returns Wednesday, March 24 with jaw dropping world premieres hosted by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, and co-hosts Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara and Kari Byron. In all, eleven new episodes will air Wednesdays at 9PM (ET/PT) through June 2010.

New premieres begin March 24 with a killer episode testing whether a soda cup thrown from a moving car can be a deadly weapon – and on the March 31 episode, Kari Byron returns to Mythbusters from maternity leave!

The March 24 premiere episode takes on Hollywood and real-life. Adam and Jamie talk trash and crash when they test whether a Styrofoam cup full of soda can be a lethal projectile when thrown from a car at high speeds. Does the cup penetrate the windshield of an oncoming car and seriously injure the driver?

ABC’s sci-fi drama FlashForward was one of the most heavily promoted new shows of the season – and it’s also become one of the most talked-about, if not for its ambitious plot, than for its ratings and scheduling troubles.

On the brink of the show’s relaunch for its final twelve episodes of season one, ABC hosted a set visit where I met and questioned the show’s seven leads about their roles and what’s to come. Today we are happy to present the first part of the interviews and will finish off tomorrow (March 18th) as the second half of the season starts!

Dominic Monaghan (Simon Campos)
On being part of multiple mythology-laden shows: “I don’t tend to want to know or want to understand stuff that my character doesn’t understand. As far as Simon’s concerned, there are a few things I needed to know, but the whole massive scale of it, I don’t tap into it too much. If Simon doesn’t know, I don’t want to know.”

American Idol — Recap & Review — Top 12

What a difference a week makes. It’s hard to believe that just a week ago, most of the contestants were pitchy all over the place, but tonight, they sound — to quote Randy – 1000 percent better.

Seems a bit suspicious to me, especially since they moved into the larger stage, which should make them more nervous. But we are certainly the beneficiaries of whatever musical magic is happening here. The Rolling Stones themed magic began with Big Mike, who – like the rest of the contestants — was introduced with a video of his family life.

TwoCents And Five Questions With Brian Vickers

photo: nascarmedia.com

…Brian Vickers, NASCAR Driver

I know what you’re thinking: This is a TV website, why are you interviewing a NASCAR driver? The answer is simple. I love NASCAR. Just kidding (well not really…I do love NASCAR)! Actually, we had a lot of positive responses from our reviews of the 24/7 Jimmie Johnson: Race to Daytona special and I want to incorporate some more sports/television crossovers into the site. And just my luck, a NASCAR driver is guest-starring on one of my favorite shows, My Boys.

Brian Vickers, driver of the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota in the Sprint Cup Series and the No. 32 Dollar General Toyota in the Nationwide Series, has been racing since he was 8 and made his NASCAR Nationwide (then Busch) Series debut in 2001. In 2003, he landed a Busch series ride with Hendrick Motorsports and eventually moved up to their Cup program, driving their No. 25 car and finishing the car in the best points position in a decade. He was definitely making a name for himself and in 2007, headed over to newly-formed Red Bull Racing. It was a tough start, but in 2009, Vickers found his pace, getting his first win and making the Chase for the Sprint Cup (he ended 12th in points – last place). But the future looks bright.

The Good Wife — Recap & Review — Heart

The Good Wife is the last show that I would call sexy…until tonight. Whew, we’re talking seriously hot.

Did you see that kiss between Alicia and Will? Not tentative, not a peck — full on tongue in the back of the throat. Not what I’d expect from Alicia “cool as a cucumber” Florrick. I did think she’d back off and drive away. But who could have called her getting back out of her car and coming back for more?

Or that when she found that Will had left, going home and pouncing on Peter. Not seducing him, but “give it to me now, no preliminaries are necessary.”

Finally, her love life is on the front burner. And burn it did.

Tonight’s episode of Lost was one in which very little was as it seems, especially in the case of Sawyer, who finally got his own episode. At first, LA Sawyer seemed a lot like Island Sawyer in pretty much every way, but then, holy crap! Sawyer is a cop?

In what universe did anyone think that was going to happen? Maybe in the Trek Mirror universe could such a thing happen, but then he’d have to have a goatee and be sleeveless. A girl can dream.
