What Makes Sammy Run?

Original Air Date: Mar 30, 2010

Farrah Kaye – Associate Editor
farrah@thetwocentscorp.com

Since the ending of last week’s episode, everyone immediately started talking about this week’s episode. Literally. That’s all anyone could talk about. First, Moretta’s daughter would be a witness to a shooting related to the task force, and secondly, Sammy would be involved in some super emotional storyline. All week long I’ve been hearing how amazing Shawn Hatosy’s acting is in this episode. Now, we all know he is amazing but sometimes I look at him and remember the whining punk kid from the movie Down To You (I know some of you have seen it, don’t deny it). But now I’ve seen the episode (sorry, I had to…it was just too good to put off) and I will tell you … Shawn Hatosy deserves an award for the amazing job he did last night. Not saying everyone else did a bad job, just that last night was his time to shine and boy, did he ever. And with that …

Opening scene: Bryant running.

Voice over: Veteran cops know better than to take work home with them. Detective Sammy Bryant had to learn this again the hard way.

David Mills, an Emmy Award-winning writer and producer for crime dramas like The Wire on HBO and Homicide: Life on the Streets on NBC died on Tuesday in New Orleans, a press representative for HBO said. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Mr. Mills died from a brain aneurysm. HBO is about to broadcast the debut of a new series, Treme, on which Mr. Mills worked as a writer and producer.

After Mr. Mills made his television writing debut with Homicide, which his friend, David Simon, helped to create, he wrote for NYPD Blue and ER. He was also a co-writer and co-producer on The Corner, adapted from Mr. Simon’s book about drug abuse and poverty in Baltimore, which won three Emmys. Zounds of kudos to Farrah for filling in for me in everyone’s favorite zip for the past few eps! We have a lot going on tonight, as Naomi manufactures a sex scandal, Ade and Gia “go there”, Dixon resolves his mama drama, and Jasper finally goes off the deep end.

Don’t you just hate it when someone starts a show by making a promise and then never fills it? When R’n’B artist Usher told the contestants that he was going to be “brutally honest,” you could see them looking nervous.

Then he never said anything that wasn’t as sweet as sugar. Some threat!

But the show did have a few surprises. Crystal Bowersox in color! Tim Urban in tune! Andrew Garcia sings something interesting!

Matt Damon Coming To 30 Rock

From Entertainment Weekly:

What Tina Fey wants, Tina Fey gets.

Back in December, we informed Matt Damon that he was at the top of Tina Fey’s 30 Rock guest star wish list. His response? “I would do [30 Rock] in a heartbeat if they asked me to come on,” enthused the genuinely shocked thesp. “She should call my people — or even better me. Or I could call her. Let’s make this happen.”

Cut to March 31 and voila: Sources confirm to [EW] exclusively that Matt Damon is going to guest star on 30 Rock!

Although the specifics of his appearance are being kept hush-hush, the Oscar winner’s episode will be one of the season’s last. It is safe to guess he will follow in James Franco’s footsteps as another fleeting love interest for Jenna (Jane Krakowski).

For all of us who’ve been wondering when Jin and Sun will be reunited and thought that tonight would be the night, we were sorely disappointed. Man, how much longer are we gonna have to wait? I’m starting to wonder if it’s ever going to happen! Despite the lack of resolution to that particular story line, we did get some cool stuff in this episode. And by cool, I mean Desmond is back, and he’s as awesome as ever.

Brittany D. – Staff Writer

So, here’s the situation: We all have problems; we all have issues and situations that we can’t control, but we try to deal with them as they come up. Kids who demand more of us than we think we’re capable of giving, surprise announcements, unplanned events, and whatever else life throws at us. The true test is how we deal with those situations, and it’s time for the Bravermans to be put to the test.
