Revolution is a
big word to use, but Jamie Oliver has some
big plans. Recently
Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution hit ABC, which follows Jamie’s campaign to bring better, healthier food to schools and families in Huntington, West Virginia. He’s had his ups and downs, but is slowly making progress in the right direction.
Jamie is a father of three (soon to be four) who first brought his plans for change to schools in Britain in 2005. He pushed the idea that schoolchildren needed to eat healthier food and cut junk food. He got the British government to pledge to address the issue, bringing school meals to the political forefront. He was voted to be one of the most inspiring political figures of 2005 by a Chanel 4 news poll.
Now he’s bringing his program to the United States, and he doesn’t plan to stop in West Virginia. The impassioned chef wants to take his issue all the way to the President! How? He’s started a petition on his website for people to sign if they agree that schools need better nutrition and that cooking skills should be kept alive in this country to promote better health. If you agree with Jamie’s stance, go sign his petition and make a difference.
