Hell’s Kitchen
Sixteen Chefs Compete (2010 Season Premiere)

Original Air Date: June 1, 2010

Farrah Kaye – Sr. Editor

The 2010 summer season premiere of Hell’s Kitchen should just be called “The Next 16 Donkeys.” We all know that’s what they’re going to be called sometime soon! There’s a blue-haired guy, another FOX reality contestant named Siobhan (seriously?), a Mohawk guy from Hawaii, a celebrity chef, a high school cooking teacher (is “home ec” not PC anymore?) and more.

Things are winding down at McKinley, with Regionals and the season finale next week. I know, I can’t believe the season finale is here (and a new CD!). The last few episodes have been great but word on the street was that tonight was an episode airing out of order but with Will giving Sue a lap dance (surely not for romantic reasons), I had hopes it would be one of the great ones and not one of the episodes from the “not so great” collection.

Next week, everything will wrap up for the season and we will have to listen to our soundtracks and wait for the season 1 DVD (which doesn’t come out until the show is almost back, which doesn’t make sense…) and relive our favorite moments that are left in our DVR. But for now, I bring you, “FUNK.”

TwoCents and Five Questions With Aldis Hodge

hodge

… Aldis Hodge, actor

You’ve probably seen him on a dozen different TV shows without knowing it – from Supernatural to Friday Night Lights – but Aldis Hodge has made his mark as wisecracking hacker Alec Hardison on TNT’s bustout hit Leverage.

Beginning its third season June 20, Leverage has already spawned its own convention and has even been the answer to a question on Jeopardy!. Hodge was kind enough to sit down with me exclusively on Friday to talk about what a ride it’s been and where he might be headed in Season 3.

TheTwoCents: This is what could be called your “breakout” role – describe what that’s been like for you.

My Two Cents – Supernatural Novel The Unholy Cause

I recently was lucky enough to be offered a copy of the latest Supernatural novel The Unholy Cause, written by Joe Schreiber. This was the firs of the Supernatural novels I had read, but with the fifth season ending just weeks ago, I was already jonesing for a fix from the Winchester brothers. Also, to be transported to a… erm… happier time.

The Unholy Cause takes place at an unspecified place towards the end of the fifth season. Sam and Dean travel to Georgia to the site of a Civil War reenactment where things have gone horribly awry. Replica weapons have begun firing, soldiers on the same side have begun turning on each other, and at the center of it all is a famed soldier by the name of Jubal Beauchamp with some decidedly demonic connections. Farewell Gary Coleman

coleman

Gary Coleman, Actor

From CNN: ” Former child star Gary Coleman, who rose to fame as the wisecracking youngster Arnold Jackson on the TV sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes” but grew up to grapple with a troubled adulthood, has died. He was 42.

Coleman died of a brain hemorrhage at a Provo, Utah, hospital, Friday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The actor fell ill at his Santaquin, Utah, home Wednesday evening and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital, Coleman’s spokesman had said in a statement earlier Friday.”

What was your favorite memory of Gary?

So You Think You Can Dance – Recap & Review – Auditions #1 and #2

So You Think You Can Dance
Auditions #1 and #2

Original Air Date: May 27, 2010

It’s here! Watch me do my happy dance! I’m so excited about this season. They’ve changed up the format, pairing only 10 dancers with All Stars from all the previous seasons. They’ve changed up the permanent judges, making Nigel, Adam and Mia the voices of experience. No more Mary screams? I think I can live with that!

But for now we’re still traveling across America for auditions, the good, the bad and the ugly!

FlashForward was touted by ABC as the next Lost, a show which just aired its last episode amongst great fanfare. It started out well, but was in serious trouble by the time it came back from months off the air.

Now, save for the slim chance of it being picked up by another network (and by the way, ABC, would you please make a decision on The New Adventures of Old Christine?), this is the last episode we’ll ever see- and many questions will be left unanswered.

Criminal Minds – Recap & Review – Our Darkest Hour (Season Finale)

Criminal Minds
Our Darkest Hour (Season Finale)

Original Air Date: May 26, 2010

JD – Associate Staff Writer
jd@thetwocentscorp.com

Last night was the season finale of Criminal Minds. We followed a killer hunting in the dark, using rolling blackouts in L.A. for places to target. After the last three really good episodes, we were all pumped about it. And adding to that, we knew the always amazing Tim Curry was going to be the unsub.

I couldn’t wait, and spent the night leading up to it coming up with ridiculous cliffhanger endings (‘which team member shot JR?’) to keep myself occupied until I saw the real thing. And as usual, when there’s so much expectation with so many fans on any finale, there are always mixed reactions. I’ve heard everything from love to hate about last night’s finale. You’ll have to read on for my opinions!

That Shane Casey is one crazy, crafty criminal. He’s the guy who started killing, leaving cryptic clues to his motive for the CSI “science guys” to decipher. His brother had been convicted of murder, and while in prison he hung himself. Shane Casey was convinced of his brother’s innocence and wanted revenge on everybody who was in that courtroom. Sheldon Hawkes was the testifying MD on the case.

After fleeing from a cop car on the way to jail, Casey returned episodes later to get his revenge on Hawkes by framing him for murder. It was another cat and mouse game, until Danny Messer proved Casey’s brother had actually committed the murder he was convicted of. Casey was imprisoned but returned years later. He had somehow gotten hold of Danny’s police badge, wallet, ID and used this to escape from prison after he orchestrated a murder, which forced the prison into lockdown and trapped Hawkes inside. Posing as ‘Danny Messer’ Shane Casey was able to walk out of the prison.
