The Office Ups Zach Woods to Series Regular

woods gets a promotion

As reported by EW’s Michael Ausiello, Sabre “VIP” Gabe Lewis, played by Zach Woods, will be promoted to series regular on the next season of The Office.

Fans of the hit comedy will recall that last season Gabe joined the Dunder-Mifflin gang after the Sabre takeover, having been planted in Scranton as the eyes and ears of the company.

This is Woods’ first major role on television, but movie audiences may recognize him for his similarly awkward-mannered character in the political satire In the Loop, released last year.

The Office will be entering its seventh season when it returns in the fall, which will reportedly also mark Steve Carell’s last year with the show if he indeed decides not to renew his contract.

My Two Cents: Woods seemed to fit in awkwardly with the rest of the cast last season, which on this show is a good thing. The Office also has to do something to keep the creative juices flowing after six seasons, especially if Carell decides to leave. Hopefully Woods will be given more to do, as he’s already proven he has some good comedic chops.

Will adding another series regular help keep The Office fresh?

In Plain Sight – Recap & Review – The Born Identity

Rejoice! Mary and Marshall are working on the same case this week! And it’s a good thing, because this case requires both of them. There has been a few difficult witnesses in the past. But there’s nothing trickier than a witness who is forced in to the system. Especially if he’s a anti-establishment, homeless, borderline genius dealing with past abandonment issues.

Our favorite Marshals certainly have their work cut out for them.

Lots had gone on between our favorite Friends since the pilot. But this episode is mainly about Ross and Rachel, who had a lot of back and forth over the previous months. Particularly, they each revealed their feelings for each other and had a back and forth relationship. Ross dated Julie for a while, Rachel dated Paulo (creepers!) for a bit, and in the end, they still had feelings for each other but were apart. Do you remember where you were when the lobsters finally had their moment?

So, now that we’re familiar with the characters we get to dig in a little deeper. These two episodes show a little bit more of the business of television, and all the pitfalls that it has.

These shows also show off the writing and dialogue that we have all come to love from Aaron Sorkin.

Hot In Cleveland – Recap & Review – Pilot

When I heard that Betty White was going to be on a new sitcom; I knew I had to watch it. The show is on Wednesday nights at 10 PM on TVLand. I was a bit wary of a TVLand original measuring up to the star’s talents, but I was happily proven wrong.

The show opened up on a shot of a plane flying over a sunset, which I am assuming was a slight nod to the opening sequence of Golden Girls. A girl can dream. Anybody agree with me? Aboard the plane we meet our main stars. We have Joy, played by Jane Leeves, who calls herself the “eyebrow queen of Hollywood” while name-dropping such clients as Oprah and Ryan Seacrest.

In this episode, we meet Bollo, a wise old talking ape at the zoo, who is sick and dying. Bollo becomes a regular on the show, but he really doesn’t come into his own until next season when series regular Dave Brown picks up the character. Due to Bollo’s sickly shape in this episode, however, Howard decides he and Vince should explore the difficult topic of death, and this exploration takes Howard on a journey he never expected, to far away parts of the galaxy where he experiences death in many of its various aspects… if you’re a monkey, that is.

My Two Cents – Criminal Minds: CBS Strikes a Blow to Strong Female Characters

For those of you who have read my reviews and opinion pieces before, you’re probably used to my sarcasm. I love Criminal Minds, and when I’m sarcastic, it comes from love. But right now I’m not feeling very loving. I’m feeling angry. And I can’t promise I won’t be sarcastic at all, but my point today is not to be funny. My point today is to rally the masses.

This week, CBS has announced a decision to drop AJ Cook from Criminal Minds. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Paget Brewster is going to be taking on a smaller role in the show and likely won’t be in as many episodes. This has literally blindsided fans, and I’m not the only one angry over this.

The previews showed lots of fighting but that’s not why I’ve been looking forward to this episode. It’s the celebrity episode! I was excited to see who would be coming through the doors of Hell’s Kitchen. Personally, I’ve known for weeks who two of them were (if you know me and my writing, you know they’re probably NASCAR-related), but I wasn’t prepared for the amount of celebrities that hit up HK. As for the fighting and the episode being two hours long, well that was just ridiculous!

Time to get trippy. Sam meets his mother, is slipped LSD, has a drug trip, and is more confused then ever before in this, the fourth episode of Life on Mars. Rose Tyler is in desperate need of protection against a well-connected loan shark.

Who better to look out for her and 4 year old Sam than… grown up Sam? This is going to get weird.
