Nazi werewolves! Sexy Jesus! Blood gelato! Tonight’s True Blood has a little bit of everything, as Bill meets his kidnapper, Sam deals with his lout of a brother, Lafayette rescues Tara from herself, and Jessica rents a chainsaw.

Bill and the King
For all those who complain Bill is too much of a pansy—this episode is for you. We pick up with a bloodied Bill tearing five or six werewolves to (literal) pieces. Seriously, y’all – naked, earless men writhing in the dirt and blood—this looks like a missing scene from Inferno.

Quantum Leap – Summer DVD Review – The Leap Home Part 1

Quantum Leap
The Leap Home Part 1

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 1990

Bob P , Jr. Reporter
bob@thetwocentscorp.com

Season 2 of Quantum Leap had some good episodes, but in my opinion the show really started hitting its stride in Season 3 with an especially strong 2-part season premier, starting with this episode. After two years of Leaping through time, experiencing everything from being a test pilot to civil rights pioneer, teen nerd to the opposite sex, Sam finally gets what he’s been wanting since the very beginning. He’s finally going home! Well, sort of. Sam has leaped into himself – he is 16 and it is November 25, 1969.

This is the twenty-second episode of the first season and the first season finale. This is a pivotal episode for the entire series. Everything in season one has been leading up to this episode and everything that comes after follows from it in one way or another.

It is New Year’s Eve on Babylon 5 and a lot is happening. Change is coming and many can feel it.

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – Cold Blood

Doctor Who
Cold Blood

Original Air Date: Jun 19, 2010

Brittany Frederick – Staff Writer
brittanyfrederick@ thetwocentscorp.com

Last year, when I was in London, I bought one of those posters that says “Everything I Needed To Know, I Learned From Doctor Who.” Let’s add something else to that list: when there’s the inevitable crack in the universe – as there is in almost every episode this season – do not touch it!

This episode is a continuation of last week’s, in which everyone is trying to figure out what’s up with the people who live at (apparently) the center of the earth and who like to suck humans underground to use for experiments of some sort because they’re ticked we took over their planet. Oops. Our bad? But the episode opens with some guy saying the races found common ground thanks to the Doctor…after he suffered terrible losses. Well that’s ominous.

Charmed – Summer DVD Review – Witch Trial

Original Air Date: Sep 30, 1999

In my quest to find the creepiest demons that Charmed had to deliver, I’ve realized that for the most part, unless there was some major arc, the demons are less than creepy. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some( otherwise this list wouldn’t exist), but wow is there some cheese.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s why this show was so great: wacky demons every week causing havoc in the Halliwell’s lives and using magic to save the day. I can appreciate that, taking it at face value. I don’t think any of us expected anything more. So, now it’s time for the ninth creepiest demon.

Eddie Cibrian Cut From CSI:Miami

no room for cibrian

Criminal Minds is not the only CBS show to let actors go.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Eddie Cibrian has been let go from CSI:Miami. Cibrian was brought on to fill the void left by a departing Adam Rodriguez, however with his return to full-time status in the fall, the creators decided to put the focus back on the original, core team. This, unfortunately, did not include Cibrian.

My Two-Cents
: It’s unfortunate, but understandable. I wonder if Cibrian was able to connect with the audience , because if he had, would they have decided to let him go?

What do you think? Are you sad to see Cibrian let go from the show?

Burn Notice – Recap & Review – Made Man

Burn Notice
Made Man

Original Air Date: Jun 17, 2010

Sara M. – TwoCents Reviewer
sara@thetwocentscorp.com

This episode had a lot of things going for it. Jesse has become a temporary member of group, he and Michael have a lead on a man involved with Simon’s initial break out, and there’s a mob boss who needs to be taken down a notch.

However, this episode will be known as one of the best examples of why Bruce Campbell is the reigning king of awesome. Possibly his best episode out of all that have gone before. One of his top five, anyway.

TwoCents and FiveQuestions with Emily Henderson

henderson

Emily Henderson, Designer, HGTV Design Star

I knew it would happen. With the current tidal wave of reality television (excuse me… “Alternate Programming”), I knew one day I would recognize a face from my past up there on the television screen. I was just hoping it wasn’t on Cops. Thankfully, a family friend showed up this week on the newly-Burnett-icized HGTV Design Star. (Yes! A talent-based competition show! Thank goodness!)

Emily Henderson and I grew up in the “rural Oregon” setting mentioned in her bio on HGTV. Back then I knew, even as we played on the ridiculously life-threatening rope swing above her family’s home, that she would be something. She was far too snarky for her own good and came from an amazingly talented family. Therefore, I was not surprised when she announced a few weeks ago that she had filmed the new season Design Star.

So here I am using personal connections to snag TheTwoCents an EXCLUSIVE interview with the designer of the “prison cell for a monk.” Speaking of, she almost gave me heart attack watching the first episode. Of course I’m going to be overly biased when it comes to Miss Emily, but (sorry sister!) I didn’t like that room. Then again, neither did she. Next time, Emily, you better Bring. It. On to the interview…

TheTwoCents: Can you tell me a little about the process you went through to get on the show?

My So-Called Life – Summer DVD Review – Pilot

My So-Called Life

Theresa – Staff Writer
theresa@thetwocentscorp.com

If you grew up in the 90s, then you probably know Angela Chase. My So-Called Life, airing in 1994, delved expertly into the awkwardness of high school life, and Claire Danes’ character became somewhat iconic. With trend-setting red rebel hair and deep thoughts like “School is a battlefield for your heart,” she seemed to be thinking exactly what you were. These days, it’s hard to imagine why these little high school moments were so terribly important and profound, but MSCL remains true to the experience of that generation. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my Secret Life of the American Teenager, but no show past or present ever did high school like this.

Hello all SYTYCD fans. I’ll be filling in for your regular reviewer Rachel for this first results show as we sashay through solos, reviews, Cat’s outfit, and (OMG?) Justin Bieber.

First up was an opening number, brought to us by new choreographer, Tessandra Chavez. I couldn’t tell exactly what the style was supposed to be. It seemed to have a Latin-Broadway flavor to it. Cristina was showcased, but I was a little underwhelmed.

So who was bottom three? Eliminated? And what did I think of Justin Bieber? My picks for the bottom three were Adéchiké, Melinda, and Ashley. Let’s see if America agreed!
