Christopher Gorham and Piper Perabo, actors

Covert Affairs will be coming to our homes on July 13 via the USA Network, and it can’t come soon enough for me! The stars of this show, Christopher Gorham and Piper Perabo, took some time out for us and answered some questions about the show and the characters that we will be falling in love with.

And since it’s a two-person interview, I bent the rules a little with the whole “FiveQuestions” thing… it’s actually ten. Don’t tell.

So let’s get started…

TheTwoCents: Piper, many times I’ve talked to actors who dig playing cops and cowboys and spies because it allows them to, revert to being a kid, does that apply equally when you’re a girl?

What other show has a Captain, a Warrior Woman, a Spunky girl Engineer, a Pilot, a Shepherd and a Mercenary playing… some kind of sport, although the good Doctor and The Companion can’t quite determine the rules whilst the Doctor’s psychologically traumatised 17 year old sister watches with amazement? Behold the crew of the Serenity!

Enough beholding! Let’s move onto the terror. Serenity just ran over a human body. In space!

Dan and Jack are just having an innocent conversation about dogs when a house blows up behind them. Cut to a day earlier, when they’re investigating a string of dog poisonings – four in the last month – and Dan’s off his head about it. He’s convinced it’s a serial killer in training.

Cut to some Chinese guys buying guns in an Airstream. No, I’m not kidding. Apparently they supply chemicals to every illegal drug lab in Texas. Put two and two together.

We open to a guy in a tinfoil spacesuit setting a bunch of crates on fire. That’s a way to spend an evening, torching the tar out of something. There’s an explosion and a car nearly runs over the rent-a-cop outside. Luckily, the rent-a-cop gets the plate number of the car. It’s TVG 911.

Meanwhile, Tony and hotwires a car and steals it. Oh Tony, I’m sure Mr. Hinckley would disapprove. Two cops in a different car spot Tony driving the car with plate number TVG 911. They pull Tony over and check the trunk. Tony says he was just repossessing the car and he’s got papers but the cops aren’t buying it. Since the trunk’s got a gas can and a flame thrower they think Tony is their fire man. They attempt to arrest him but he makes a break for it and a high speed chase ensues.

How sweet is revenge? That’s how Courtland must have felt this week when he went from being in the Bottom 6 last week because of Nina’s fierce competitiveness to rising above them all. Good for him.

And Nina — I don’t know if it’s how the show is edited or if she really is as conceited and obnoxious as she sounds — but I sure do love hating her! Every show needs a good villain and Nina is fitting into the role perfectly. Think about it — here we are in the second episode and how many of the designers do you know by name so far? Probably three or four and I’m betting the first name off your lips is Nina.

American Idol Audition Cities Announced, Age Limit Changed

changed for the better?

In an announcement on Ryan Seacrest’s blog posted this morning, we have learned that American Idol will be celebrating its 10th year on the air with auditions in 6 cities this summer. To shake things up even further, for the first time ever the hit show will be lowering its age limit to allow 15 year old potential Idols to compete.

“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16,” said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of American Idol. “Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.”

Sean Murray Returns to NCIS

murray finally signs!

The wait is over, and my fingernails can get back to normal.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms Sean Murray, who plays the lovable, tech savvy McGee, has signed a deal to return to the long running series.

Murray remained the final N.C.I.S cast member to reach a deal, following the announcement of Michael Weatherly’s multi-year contract. Mark Harmon, Cote de Pablo, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, and Rocky Carroll had previously negotiated to return.

My Two Cents: I am way beyond happy. In my opinion, this is one of the best ensembles on T.V., and it would have been devastating to have lost even one. I’m glad they will all be back.

Are you as excited as I am?

Vivica A. Fox turns up this week as Maria Ellis, a woman Jane is representing in a divorce. Maria is hesitant about it until Jane tells her that her husband Charles bought a townhouse with another woman, Emily Parcells. Parker interrupts the client meeting to tell Jane someone is clamoring for her in the lobby, and for the second week, that person happens to be exactly who she’s looking for! Just one catch though – Emily says *she’s* Charles’ wife.

Welcome to the third season of Leverage. In case you forgot, the end of last season saw an injured Nate bleeding on the deck of a boat about to be taken into the custody of Interpol (and his old nemesis James Sterling) while his team fled for their own safety. So where do they all go from here? We’re about to find out in tonight’s doubleheader.

As the title of the first episode suggests, Nate is in jail. Obviously, he’s not going to stay there forever. Meanwhile, his team is in the middle of pulling off something of their own in the courthouse – something which involves Parker sleeping upside-down in an elevator shaft. Why? Continue reading
