Welcome to July, everyone! Before I get into today’s Recap & Review, I wanted to take a moment to say Congratulations to the whole Hot in Cleveland family for getting picked up by TVLand for a second season! They will pick up production in September and the new season will begin airing in January of 2011. And I will be right here with you to talk about each episode.

Now, on to last night’s episode. We, as usual, find our friends having breakfast and discussing how they are changing while they’re aging. Melanie rushes in with the newspaper and showed the other girls that her favorite singer will be in town at the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame party that weekend. Victoria grabs the paper and sees that her ex-boy toy, Johnny Revere, is going to be there. She wants to go to the party to confront him about how he treated her and she planned on throwing a drink in his face. So the ladies decide to crash the party.

Rescue Me – Recap & Review – Change

Change

Original Air Date: Jul 6, 2010

So last week we saw what happened after Tommy was shot … sort of … maybe … kind of. A lot of theories are flying around about what really happened, not just with the shooting and its aftermath but for the last several years. It’s been really fun discussing conspiracy theories about the show but in the meantime, we have to discuss what’s going on with the actual show and what we know.

Tommy survived the shooting, Franco is getting too close with his family, Colleen has become an alcoholic, the house might get shut down, Sheila wants Tommy to get Damien out of the “job” and Tommy has decided to stop drinking. What happens next? Apparently…change.

This is the first episode of season two, and everything changes. The boys are no longer zookeepers and there is no more Bob Fossil (though Rich Fulcher stays on as a regular cast member). There is no stage time in the beginning of the episode to introduce the show. The boys now live in an apartment, Vince turns from innocent and dumb to snarky (and still dumb). The moon talks, and Bollo not only becomes a series regular, but he suddenly has blue eyes.

In the 1970s the bands were epic. This is the age of glam rock, glittered face paint and free love, the remnants of the 60s hippie culture. So when Sebastian Grace of Sebastian Grace and the Electric Insects comes to town and receives death threats, a detective from the 125 needs to be assigned for security detail. Who better than young detective and super fan, Chris? What could possibly go wrong?

Just about everything.

This week we come to my absolute favorite episode of Day Break. Why do I love it so much? The entire hour revolves around Taye Diggs and Adam Baldwin, stuck in one room together, and like a good play, it’s absolutely riveting from start to finish.

In this episode, Hopper begins to investigate the cold case that the hourglass and photo sent to him and his sister are connected to.

Huge – Recap & Review – Hello, I Must Be Going & Letters Home

Original Air Dates – Jun 28 & Jul 5, 2010

Huge is a show about a bunch of overweight teenagers who go to a Summer fat camp, called Camp Victory. I chose to cover this show because I have had a life long struggle with my weight. I have also been to fat camp. In the Summer of 1987. I lost 8 pounds and put it back plus about 300. I topped off at 510 and am now down to 366. Although the show is quite campy, it is a pretty accurate view of camp. Let’s jump in, the water looks good!

First, let’s look at the major cast members. Our main girl, camper Willamina, is played by Nikki Blonsky, who graced the screen two years ago as Tracy Turnblad in the updated Hairspray. She is the rebel who doesn’t really want to be there. Her parents went to Europe and forced her to go to camp. She balks at taking her clothes off to reveal her bathing suit for the weigh-in, but ends up covering her insecurities with a striptease. Later, she tries to escape and gets caught by the camp director at the nearby diner.

We arrive at the Twin Palms Missile Base at 11 am. A bunch of military guys are in the underground bunker when the big red bulb starts flashing and an alarm starts ringing. A missile appears to be launching itself and is headed toward Russia and they can’t stop it. The man in charge gets on the phone who I assume is the General.

They’ve got a countdown clock on the wall and it’s winding down to launch. How come there’s always that person that has to do the countdown out loud? I mean, it’s a high pressure situation. We can all see the clock. Can’t you find something else useful to do? Press some buttons! Move some levers, for Pete’s sake! Anyway, right at the last couple of seconds, the launch shuts itself off and the timer starts over at 24 hours. The General’s aide says he thought the computers were failsafe. The General says that all the missiles will go off in 24 hours and it’s gonna be WWIII. Continue reading

This is the sixteenth episode of season two. This episode has been described as prophetic and momentous, more so than others. There isn’t as much going on here as in other episodes but it’s what is revealed that is important.

This episode opens in one of the station’s points of entry. The Centauri’s war with the Narn is not going well for the Narn people. Narn wounded are flooding onto the station as refugees. Zack asks Garibaldi to speak to the Captain about shipping some of the unwounded and less wounded to other facilities or back to the Narn home world or he is afraid the station will be overrun. Garibaldi walks off with a slight nod.
