Kirsten Vangsness Is Added To ‘Minds’ Spin-off Cast

kirsten vangsness

There has been a lot of drama in the world of Criminal Minds over the last few months. First the fans were upset about the new spin-off show, but then we got hit harder by the firing of AJ Cook and the “demotion” of Paget Brewster. Due to that ordeal and the crazy fan campaigning that it spurred, I almost forgot that I didn’t like the idea of the spin-off. Then Janeanne Garofalo got cast, and my resolve not to watch it cracked a little. She is one of those actors I would watch just about anything she’s in, so I started to waffle.

Just this week, news surfaced that Kirsten Vangsness, who plays Penelope Garcia on the original series, is going to be reprising her role on the spin-off, titled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. Yeah, my anti-spin-off resolve is gone. That did it. I’m crying uncle. I’ll watch, and at least give it a chance.

Honestly, I sort of hate the idea of doing a 180 on the spin-off due to casting. I was so adamant about not watching, and if you’ve read my previous pieces on it, you know that… But there you go. I follow the people I love.

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – The Pandorica Opens

Doctor Who
The Pandorica Opens

I hope you know your current series before you watch this episode, because this is your pop quiz. Apparently after the events of “Vincent and the Doctor,” Vincent Van Gogh went nuts and painted something so weird no one will show or tell us what it is. Flash-forward a long, long, long while and River Song (she whom I hoped we’d seen the last of) gets a phone call regarding the time vortex from the Prime Minister. Then she escapes from her future prison to go meet Queen Elizabeth from “The Beast Below.” It’s like cosmic Pong, everybody!

The TARDIS finds a set of coordinates at the beginning of time and that’s how Amy and Eleven turn up in the middle of Caesar’s reign, where River is pretending to be Cleopatra. She gives him Van Gogh’s painting…of an exploding TARDIS in the middle of the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations. This is a Very Bad Thing. River explains about some mythic thing called the Pandorica, which takes them under Stonehenge to find it…and for Eleven to explain that The Worst Thing In The Universe is in this box. Apparently everyone else has noticed this too…including the Daleks, Cybermen and everyone else we’ve ever mentioned on this show. It’s an evil party down in here. It would be scarier if we saw it, but we’re led to believe it’s a big unruly mob and the Roman Empire is supposed to help the Doctor get out of it. Um, okay.

Rayanne and Rickie are hanging out at Angela’s house getting some food, and Rayanne takes a beer. Patty comes in while Rickie’s holding it for her, and is quite bothered. She pulls Angela aside to tell her that there will not be any drinking, but also to remind her that, even though her grandfather is getting some medical tests done, they are still on for her grandparents’ anniversary party that weekend.

Amy Ryan Returning to The Office

holly is back!

Michael Scott and the rest of the gang at Dunder-Mifflin will be welcoming back a familiar face next season. TV Guide is confirming that Amy Ryan will reprise her role as Holly Flax on The Office for eight episodes of the show’s upcoming eighth season.

Ryan’s character was last seen in season five, when Holly was brought in as the new HR person. She immediately formed a connection with branch manager Michael Scott only to see their romance end when Holly was forced to relocate to Nashua, New Hampshire.

This news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to fans of the show as Michael was promised the return of Holly by Sabre CEO Jo at the end of last season for taking the blame in a company scandal.

George Eads Returns to CSI

george eads

George Eads, who plays investigator Nick Stokes on CSI, has inked a deal to return, reports TVGuide. According to the article, Eads had planned to walk if an acceptable deal had not been made.

“I have to decide if I want to come back,” said Eads. “It’s been 10 years, and I’ve still yet to do a feature film and see what other opportunities might be out there. In negotiations, you have to be willing to walk away, and that’s something I’m willing to do if I don’t feel the contract is pleasing to me and fair. There can’t really be a hierarchy when it comes to salaries anymore. I feel I deserve to sit at the table with the adults, and we’ll see what happens.”

My Two Cents: Well, I’ll leave the quote up to interpretation, however, as I mentioned before, I thought it would be a shame for CSI to lose any more regulars than it already has, so I’m glad he is coming back.

Are you glad to have more Nick?

Welcome to another week in the beautiful Hamptons. There is a lot of action and plot advancement in this episode, so let’s not waste any time.

I think this episode is a lot about fathers and sons. It’s no secret that Hank detests his father. By the end of this episode, there is definitely hope of possible reconciliation, but it’s going to take awhile for Hank to completely come around. There is a flashback of a time when the boys were still young and went on an adventure with their dad. Both men have vividly different memories of the day.

So You Think You Can Dance – Recap & Review – 1 of 7 Voted Off

We know that Ashley is in the bottom three, but who else will it be? Last night I predicted Billy and Jose, but we’ll have to wait and see! The group number is a Broadway routine, and uses the All Stars too. It’s actually nice to see Broadway done with a bunch of people, because that’s how Broadway is usually done, with a big group. That said, there’s a lot going on and I feel like I missed some things and it was little scattered, but it might have been the camera work.

Cat looks cute in her vintage-y micro mini in a bright yellow. Her hair and make-up is cute too! Good week for Cat!

As a spy Michael knows how to multi-task. And when he can’t do everything, he delegates. Interrogating Kendra is getting them nowhere and it’s time for a change of tactic. Jesse is that change, Michael has also been brought in on a job with Fiona. This leaves Sam to monitor Jesse as he takes care of the interrogation.

Time to see if the last few weeks have made it any easier for these guys to work together.

Hello, Newman!! In this episode, we meet some of the girl’s neighbors. The featured neighbor is Rick, a newspaper columnist who writes community stories about Cleveland. He is played by Seinfeld alum, Wayne Knight. I’m telling you, whoever does the casting for this show deserves an Emmy immediately!!

Also, for anyone who has missed past episodes or just wants to watch them again, TV Land is running a marathon tomorrow, Saturday July 17th, beginning at 2:30 PM EST. Check your local listings to be sure.
