JR’s Masterpiece

Original Air Date: Mar 11, 2013

How does a television drama pay tribute to an icon, a legend, a nefarious, yet beloved bastard? Luckily for us viewers, they do it with legacy, fisticuffs, and mystery. And it all combined to a fitting hour that paid tribute to J.R. Ewing, and Larry Hagman along with him.

One of the most touching moments of the hour was the opening credits. Slowed to a haunting rendition of the normal theme, it set the dark tone for the hour and was a befitting instrumental tribute to the character. The whole hour was tone-perfect, and despite not loving the episodes that led up to this one, I now can’t wait to see what comes next.

It seems like every show is now required to do a “Hangover”-type episode, so 90210 has decided to fulfill this unwritten TV rule in tonight’s episode. After she spent a night trying to get the “old Naomi” back, Naomi wakes up with a wedding ring on her finger. What did she do last night, and who did she marry?

Meanwhile, Liam has to do some serious things to help out Navid with the Cronus cheating scandal. Will this cost the two of them their friendship? Read on for this week’s character breakdown!

Switched At Birth
Introducing The Miracle

Original Air Date: Mar 11, 2013

Karen Belgrad – Senior Editor
karenbelgrad@thetwocentscorp.com

After last week’s groundbreaking all-ASL episode, this hour we have the winter finale of Switched At Birth. The show will be back in a mere three months (June 10th), and tonight’s episode left the door open for plenty of new storylines.

As we reflect back on the first ten episodes of season two, viewers can relish the fact that we saw something more than a teen-angst drama. Yes, romance plays a part, but we also dealt with pregnancy, politics, religion, deaf culture, and alcoholism. It may seem like the ingredients for a typical ABC Family show, but this show is so much more…

The Good Wife
Runnin’ with the Devil

I have to start this with a confession: I love Wallace Shawn. Any true fan of “The Princess Bride” is sure to agree with me. So seeing him show up on The Good Wife was like Christmas and my birthday all swirled together.

THE CASE: Shawn plays Charles Lester, drug kingpin Lemond Bishop’s “personal” lawyer. You might remember that at the beginning of the season, Bishop was arrested for murdering a Federal informant posing as one of his employees. Now the case finally comes to court and you can bet the newly-flush Lockhart-Gardner firm needs to win this one to stay in the black. So Alicia and Cary take along the Columbo-like Lester on their trips to question witness per Bishop’s strongly placed request.

Revenge
Retribution

This week starts on tumultuous note with Emily furious over the death of Amanda. After being saved by Nolan, she is on a rampage and not thinking clearly. Her main thought is that of taking imminent revenge on Conrad and Victoria. Nolan tries to help her calm down, without much luck. Her grief over the loss of “the only person she ever loved” is apparent and heartbreaking. Aiden arrives and he and Nolan discuss the current situation. Nolan recaps everything that is going on and says “why do I get the feeling this isn’t what Takeda had in mind when he handed you your revenge degrees.” Another perfect hilarious and catty Nolan quote!

When Emily and Nolan arrive at the hospital to see Jack, they find out that Carl is at the Grayson’s. This provides evidence to them that Conrad and Victoria are behind Amanda’s death.

More abandoned buildings, more opportunities for death. Rick, Daryl, and Hershel arrive for their Governor meet-and-greet a little early to sweep the site. But surprise, surprise, the Governor is already there. “We have got a lot to talk about.” You sure do, Mr. Crazypants. In a show of trust, the Governor removes his weapon. But sneaky old Governor, he arrived at these ‘peace talks’ extra-extra early and has a gun taped to the underside of the table.

Outside, Milton, Andrea and Martinez show up. Andrea is surprised that the Governor and Rick are already inside. She storms in to be the moderator, but it doesn’t go as she planned. She had pretty much lied to both men to get them in the same room, telling Rick that the Governor was willing to negotiate. He is very much not willing to negotiate. In fact, he’s there to accept the terms of Rick’s surrender. They share some not-so-kind words all around (including something about Maggie… “Uh, what?” thinks Andrea), and the Governor kicks Andrea out of the room. Well, that went well.
