American Idol Judges to be Revealed Next Wednesday

lopez

After weeks of speculation over who will be replacing Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Kara DioGuardi on American Idol, the identities of the new judges will finally be unveiled next Wed., Sept. 22.

According to USA Today, the announcement will take place at a press conference hosted by Ryan Seacrest at Los Angeles’ Forum. It seems a foregone conclusion that the panel will consist of original judge Randy Jackson, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez, who will reportedly earn a $12 million salary, but nothing will be confirmed until then. The event will take place the same day as the first-round of Los Angeles auditions.

Finale

It’s over already? At least it got renewed, but eight episodes doesn’t seem like enough. It is what it is, though, and last night’s episode was pretty awesome, I must say. Our cooks had to face off against each other head to head, narrowing the field from four to two, and then two to one, leaving the champion standing tall. I was extremely happy with the winner. Were you?

photo: tbs

TNT has written a prescription for a third season of the powerful medical drama HAWTHORNE, starring and executive-produced by Jada Pinkett Smith. TNT has ordered 10 new episodes of the hit series, which is slated to return in 2011.

Created by Emmy® winner John Masius (St. Elsewhere, Providence, Dead Like Me), HAWTHORNE premiered in summer 2009 and ranked as one of ad-supported cable’s Top 5 new series of the year. In its second season in summer 2010, the series continued its success, averaging 3.7 million viewers and ranking as ad-supported cable’s #1 Tuesday program among women 25-54.

“With its memorable characters, powerful performances and moving storylines, HAWTHORNE takes us on a dramatic journey through the world of a hospital on the brink of collapse,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “This series has performed extremely well among our key demos and proven itself to be a great summer series. We are very excited to continue working with Jada and HAWTHORNE’s outstanding production team and cast.”

Survivor – Recap & Review – Young At Heart

Survivor: Nicaragua

The low-down: Survivor does enjoy dividing up people by demographic groups. Men vs. women has been done a couple of times. Ethnicity was tried once. Age, however, has not been done, up until now. One tribe is made up of people in their twenties. The other tribe is up of people forty and older. Oh, and in another twist, Jimmy Johnson, former coach of the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys, is on the older tribe. Oh, and one last thing, the show has added a Medallion of Power. More about that later.

Sons of Anarchy – Recap & Review – Oiled

Sons of Anarchy
Oiled

Balance is one of the most important things for a rider. So it’s no coincidence that Sons of Anarchy uses that theme so often.

Consider, for example, the character of Tig. Actor Kim Coates has always made him one of my favorite characters by giving him equal parts menace and humor. In his first appearance this week, he is taking a collection of Hummel figurines and turning them around so they will not look at him. The humor continues when Gemma catches him in Amelia’s bathrobe, discussing his need for lubricant. But things spin quickly when Gemma’s father hears Amelia’s moans and thinks his wife is cheating on him. He shoots Tig, but Gemma refuses to let Amelia take him to a hospital. Her suspicion leads her to Google Gemma, and she finds the news and the reward figure. It’s all played smoothly and unexpectedly.

Our season finale is finally upon us, how sad is that?! We get a few answers in this episode and we are also going to have a bit of a crazy ending.
It starts out great as Annie and Auggie are having a drink and she does a little “cheers” motion which he doesn’t see…of course. She tells him she gave him a faux clink…he tells her he knows…haha. Funnier to see than have me write and explain it, trust me.
So professor Sabine Anton in Sri Lanka is running from some goons and is captured.
Next thing you know, Ben Mercer is turning himself in at the Agency.

This week Annie is snookered into being a chaperone for her niece that is planning a field trip to the Smithsonian. She will be taking a bunch of 3rd graders around the museum in a few days. Auggie, of course, thinks she is crazy for agreeing to do it.
Meanwhile some guy by the name Don Ridley is caught at customs with diamonds in his case he was smuggling in.

Parenthood – Recap & Review – I Hear You, I See You

Parenthood
I Hear You, I See You

Parenthood is the little show that shouldn’t have, but, thankfully, did. Last season was delayed due to Maura Tierney’s illness, but in the end provided us with the stellar Lauren Graham. A second season didn’t seem likely with faltering ratings, but NBC stuck by it. And an episode about driving, lojack shoes, skype sex, and a leaky roof shouldn’t be interesting, but it was!

Welcome back to season two of the Braverman family! A cast of fifteen characters can be easy to lose track of, so let’s list this out by who did what this week!
