According to EW.com, the NBC reality series The Sing-Off has been renewed for a fourth season.

The a cappella competition show’s upcoming cycle will return to the holiday season format used in Seasons 1 and 2, as opposed to the super-sized fall 2011 Season 3 run that earned sub-par ratings. No word yet on whether judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Sara Bareilles and host Nick Lachey will return.

Isn’t it interesting that although Simon Cowell hasn’t been on Idol for three seasons, he still has an effect on the show? This season X-Factor told the audience the ranking of its contestants almost every week.

So after 26 million votes during the first week of voting, Idol did the same thing. The twist was that the Top Three were revealed, but not in which order. But the remaining six singers did find out where they fell. So, something new on Idol. Thanks Simon.

Last time we met, the hospital got its new owners. Luckily for our docs, it wasn’t the evil Pegasus folks, but it was the doctors themselves with a little (ok, a lot) of help from the Harper Avery Foundation. But now, to use an old phrase, that the inmates are running the asylum, how well will Seattle Grace Mercy West truly function?

This was a hodge-podge of an episode, with more patient stories than we’ve seen in a while, and all of them were transplant in nature. Of course, if they in any way reflected the doctor’s personalities and need to become a problem solver, that was just mere coincidence, right? Riiiiight.

There’s something about the ugly sight of an empty chair. For the top of the show and through the first performance, Nicki was missing. It’s implied that she was stuck in traffic. Sounds like someone doesn’t have good time management, hmmm?

It’s a new theme: Songs by Idols from when they competed and post competition. In other words, it’s one big commercial for the Idol machine.

But after all the cutting and loss of other contests (I’ll always miss Charlie Askew), this has to be one of the best Top 10 in five seasons. There isn’t a real clunker (although I would argue that Lazaro Arbos comes close) in the bunch. Here’s how they did:

Apologies for not recapping last week. I have started mourning SouthLAnd after hearing both Ben McKenzie and Shawn Hatosy have been cast in pilots on the big networks. This is not good news for the show that has been saved four seasons … one season at a time.

That being said, here is what you missed last week: Lydia met with baby daddym who is getting a divorce (but has he stopped seeing his mistress??) who leaves gifts for Christopher on her disk at the end of her shift; Cooper meets a guy who seems to not care about him (and I can’t tell you anything about what was said because SouthLAnd went all NYPD Blue on us with Cooper in the shower! WOAH!); Sherman is dating the cute teacher from the school where they did the puppet show; and finally, Sammy has a bad meeting with child services, who tells him he needs to make a bunch of changes in his home, which makes him desperate and he steals a kid’s wallet to pay for the beginning of the renovations.

And now, on with tonight’s show…

“There’s a common saying among LAPD officers: ‘Leave the job in the locker with your uniform.’ That’s easier said than done.”

Well, you probably expected this episode. I was. I was also dreading it and hoping it didn’t happen. The episode where Brandon breaks down.

It’s not pretty. It’s not fun. It’s funny. It’s disturbing. It’s unsettling. It takes away from the game. Yes, it’s memorable but so is burning your hand on the stove. I am not a fan of this hour.

So… Is he or isn’t he? And is she or isn’t she? Toby and Spencer have my head spinning this week, but one thing is clear – no matter whose body was found in the woods or who’s wearing a hoodie, PLL is raising the stakes as we near the season finale!

Aria calls it quits with Ezra, Hanna and Caleb get played by A (big time), and Emily is dead-set to prove Toby’s alive. With Spencer’s new wardrobe, a creepy puppet show, and few more nails in Cece and Melissa’s coffins, is A even still pulling Rosewood’s strings?

So after a very intense week last week with a lot of craziness and finally having the major development that Shelby is in fact Drew Thompson, here we are with another week of attempting to find him. This is going to be something that I think they will drag out until the end of the season, this is the only thing that the show really has going story wise at the moment.

Raylan is still dealing with the death of his father from what we can see. It isn’t necessarily something that is crushing him emotionally, just something that is bothering him a bit. He keeps learning things about his father and mother in the last couple episodes. Boyd also seems to be on a strange path at the moment, dealing with the men from Detroit, we still need to see how all of that will play out. Lets see what happens this week!
