Survivor – Recap & Review – Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All

Survivor: Nicaragua
Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All

Original Air Date: Sept. 22, 2010

RyanO – TwoCents Reviewer

The low-down: Holly is a mess and a shoe-stealer. Naonka is not a mess but she is a sock stealer. Holly eventually comes clean. Naonka doesn’t but doesn’t have to since it’s so obvious. Shannon continues to display his urbane wit and charm. The Medallion of Power is used for the first time. Tribal Council is actually interesting.

Pre-challenge: Jimmy Johnson leads the oldsters in the morning meeting and they’re concerned with rebuilding the shelter since they’re not sleeping well. Jimmy T is annoyed that people are listening to Jimmy Johnson and doesn’t know why people aren’t listening to him. I don’t know, maybe it has to do with leadership credentials? Marty is content to lay back and let the focus fall on the coach.

Tonight was one of my favorite episodes of each season. Makeovers! Of course, we had at least a couple hair meltdowns and angry girls, but what else is new?

Na, na, na, na, na, na…

Law & Order SVU is now beginning its 12th season, but I’m just taking it over this year. I have to say, after watching the two hour season premiere, I’m not really sure what I got myself into. Following the plot is a bit like trying to watch the entire series of Lost in a mater of days and understand it without any help.

I’m writing about both episodes together since…well if you’ve seen them, you know. In the first, a girl is taken from her mother’s house. When Elliot and Olivia investigate, mom tells them their other daughter was taken 10 years earlier.

Sons of Anarchy – Recap & Review – Caregiver

Special guest stars are always a mixed bag. There is an interest, but like old Love Boat reruns, you wonder if it’s just a gimmick.

Case in point…The announcement concerning Stephen King’s appearance in this episode, particularly when his character is taken from his pseudonym. Leave it to the staff here, however, to work the appearance darned skillfully. King is not asked to do much, but the mood makes for an effective character turn.

Biggest Loser – Recap & Review – Season 10 Premiere

Biggest Loser
Season 10 Premiere

Original Airdate – Sep 21, 2010

Anne – Associate Editor
anne@thetwocentscorp.com

The theme on this season of The Biggest Loser is “Pay It Forward”. So the show is traveling to seven different US cities to choose contestants and motivate the communities. They choose seven cities that have the highest rates of obesity. Two out of three Americans are now obese. It’s a scary statistic, don’t you think?

In each city, three potential contestants are chosen. Only two of them will make it to the Biggest Loser Ranch.

Glee – Recap & Review – Audition

Glee
Audition

Original Air Date: Sep 21, 2010

Farrah Kaye – Sr. Editor

It’s been a long summer and I’m super excited for the Gleeks to return. Sadly, they’ll be down a member as Dijon Talton was let go as Matt. But that doesn’t bother the club too much since they need more kids any way!

So with a new school year upon us, it’s club sign up time and for a singing club, that means auditions! But some of our Gleeks (cough RACHEL cough) don’t like change, especially if she’ll lose her time in the spotlight. The show got a lot of attention over the summer, winning awards and setting more records, not to mention the ever-expanding guest star list. My only question? Would the season premiere live up to the hype? Let’s find out …

Parenthood – Recap & Review – No Good Deed

Parenthood
No Good Deed

Original Air Date: Sep 21, 2010

Karen Belgrad – Associate Staff Writer

karenbelgrad@thetwocentscorp.com

The amazing thing about Parenthood is how it takes television clichés, recycles them, and freshly reuses them. New job- check. New parent- check. Misunderstandings- check. Dad hiding in car- check. We’ve seen all of these things before. But Parenthood makes us feel as though we are seeing them for the first time through grown-up eyes.

This week’s hour focused primarily focused on each of the four Braverman siblings. Crosby broke my heart. Sarah got on my nerves. Adam needed to chill. And, Julia… well… was Julia. Just like our own families, nobody was perfect all of them time. Who did you relate this week?
