No Ordinary Family – Recap & Review – Pilot

No Ordinary Family
Pilot

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 2010

Ryan O – TwoCents Reviewer

A good TV show makes you want to see what’s next. What’s next for the characters. What’s next in the story. No Ordinary Family does it exactly that. At the end of the pilot episode, you want to know what’s next for the Powells. What’s next for the dad with the Superman powers. The mom who can run like The Flash. The daughter who can read minds. The son who might be developing super-intelligence. As much as all that, you want to know what’s next for the family as a whole and for the Jim and Stephanie, a husband and wife who had been growing apart. But let’s consider what came first before thinking about what’s next.

NCIS – Recap & Review – Worst Nightmare

NCIS
Worst Nightmare

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 2010

Sara M. – Sr. Reviewer

It’s intern time at NCIS! Surprisingly, Gibbs allows three students to be brought onto his team. And this was quite the week for the mini probies to arrive. A young girl has been kidnapped from her classroom in Quantico, which is a difficult case to begin with. But a simple kidnapping becomes difficult when the girl’s grandfather, who has a sketchy past in black opts, gets involved. Nothing can prepare these interns for what they’re about to witness.

Detroit 1-8-7 – Recap & Review – Local Hero/Overboard

Detroit 1-8-7
Local Hero/Overboard

Last week’s season premiere introduced us to characters from all walks of life in intercity homicide. By the end of the episode, we had a new detective and new partnership, a very private person made a very public speech, and a rookie was shot after just a day on the job. They’ve got “gritty cop drama” down.

In lieu of the now-abandoned documentary format, it looks like every episode is going to have two cases. This week, they’re a high school football star shot while out driving, and a man who washed up on shore, bloody and seeming to have come from festivities on a cruise in the middle of the Detroit River.

Hawaii Five-O – Recap & Review – Ohana

Hawaii Five-O
Ohana

Here we are again in the beautiful state of Hawaii. After starting with a blast, I was afraid the new episode would fall flat. Did Hawaii Five-O keep up the momentum? Read on to find out.

The opening set-up seems oddly familiar: a man is on his phone talking to his son, holding a black case beside him. The son is not happy with the dad, calling him a dictator, until bam, guys in black come and crash into the car, whisking him away. Good scene, good set-up, but like I said, it is oddly familiar.

Dancing with the Stars – Recap & Review – Week 2 Elimination

Dancing with the Stars
Week 2 Elimination

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 2010

Last week was called a shocking elimination when David Hasselhoff went home.  I’ll admit I was surprised because I thought he had a bigger audience base, but I guess they’re all in Germany.  This week I’ve predicted that Michael Bolton will be the one sent home.

So right off the bat, I can rest easy because my favorite, Kyle Massey is announced as safe in the first couple of minutes (and he got the encore dance).  I also finally found out that he scored a 22 last night.  Good to know.

Lone Star First Cancellation of 2010

photo: fox

It could have been $^%! My Dad Says, Chase or even Outlaw, but the ‘award’ goes to Lone Star on FOX for being the first casualty of the new fall season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show has been canceled by FOX after only 2 episodes.

MyTwoCents: I didn’t even get a chance to watch this show, apparently I wasn’t the only one.

What show do you guys think will be next?

Tonight’s episode continues the stunt-casting trend the producers of Chuck have been going for this season. Maybe trying to bring in the audience/fans of certain stars who hasn’t seen Chuck and hoping they stick around after their favorite actor or actress has left Buymoria. I can’t blame them for trying.

I hope it works, but as of now, NBC still hasn’t ordered the back half of Chuck season 4. Tonight we had Bronson Pinchot, Lou Ferrigno, supermodel Karolina Kurkova and the Old Spice commercial guy bringing their varied and various talents to the Spy More.

…Ian Anthony Dale, Actor and Nick Wauters, Creator

As The Event gets ready to air its third episode, I was lucky enough to have the chance to chat with two of the creative forces behind the show: Nick Wauters, creator of The Event, and Ian Anthony Dale, who plays one of the show’s most enigmatic characters. Read on to find out what they have to say about the show’s original concept, keeping fans happy, and how Simon Lee really needs a girlfriend.

TTC: For better or worse, the internet has given us access to instant online criticism. Nick, I’d like to hear about your relationship with fan reactions, specifically as someone who’s written for several shows and is now spearheading this show, where do you draw the line between telling the story that you want to tell and trusting your vision, and keeping everyone engaged and happy?

Hello Nikki Heat fans! I’ll be filling in for your regular reviewer Alexis tonight as we wade through the difference between psychics and mediums and con artists and charlatans! In the process we’ll throw out some red herrings and circle back around to a killer!!!!

Do you believe in the sixth sense? Castle sure does (big shock). Beckett sure doesn’t (big shock). But when a psychic medium is murdered, the bigger question is… did she predict her own death?
