Well, we finally meet Booth’s new love of his life…um, is that what I dare call her? I wonder..will we like her for who she really is, or do we hate her just because she is in the way of Booth and Bones? If you feel the latter…is that really fair? As for the case on the show being connected to our Scooby gang, we have a couple that is found dead in a cave and they were a couple not too unlike our very own. The dead couple were 2 people from very different backgrounds that fell in love. He had a girlfriend, but felt a connection with his AA mentor, and they died trying to protect each other. Here is what happened with our gang this week:

The Vampire Diaries – Recap & Review – Memory Lane

Hey, ladies. Been dumped? Miss your man? Want to know how to get him back? Well, you’re in luck! The Vampire Diaries’ Katherine sure has the answer for you: let your ex chain you in a dungeon for a few hours and torture you! Repeatedly threaten to murder his current lady love! Stake him in the leg!

Yes, this is clearly the smartest thing you could do. Yup, that’s right; we spend half the episode in outtakes from “Hostel” as Stefan tries to torture Katherine into revealing her endgame. We do get some fun post-bellum flashbacks and reveals, but I can’t help but be disappointed that Katherine’s endgame might actually just be “twu wuv.” Oh, Katherine…

Community – Recap & Review – Accounting for Lawyers

Much better, show! After a not-entirely satisfying premiere, Community put in a solid second episode, by dispensing with the love parallelograms and returning to what makes this show great: the community of characters. I’ll wax on about some minor quibbles later, but overall I’m pretty pleased. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. But for now – let’s get to the story.

Guten tag, homies! It’s Oktoberfest at Greendale! The campus reacts with a resounding “meh” until the Dean decides to make Oktoberfest more “diversity-friendly” by adding some bling to his lederhosen and hosting a ‘pop and lock’ contest.

Up in his clubhouse at HQ, Jane gets a phone call from someone named Danny who asks for his help. Jane is eager to provide it, with very few questions, and indeed finds himself on the business end of police firearms with his hands raised for the second time in as many episodes — this time over Landon Wale’s dead body. I love this season.

Jane has a cockamamie story about passing by and hearing a shot, but Detective Reece isn’t buying it. Lisbon talks Reece into releasing him from custody. She demands the truth from him, and in Jane fashion, he manages to say what he needs to without giving anything away. Danny Ruskin is his brother-in-law — his wife’s brother — and he asks if anyone knows if the county fair is in town. Crank up the backstory machine!

The Office – Recap & Review – Counseling

The Office
Counseling

Original Air Date: Sep 30, 2010

Cold Open: Dwight plans to open a daycare in the old Michael Scott Paper Company room. Pam and Jim decide to take the tour, just for the laughs. The daycare has an eye chart in the old rusty shower, a toy box full of plastic silverware (and a soy sauce packet) and buckets for the bathroom, feeding trough, and plants. Oh, and no one will be there to supervise the kids because the door locks from the outside. Jim wants to test that door so he locks Mose (who was in there painting in the dark) and Dwight in the room together while he and Pam take off.

Toby and Michael start their counseling sessions in the break room. Michael stares menacingly at Toby and says he hates him and wants to smash his face.  He also accuses Toby of wanting to molest him. This is going to be fun.

This week on Grey’s Anatomy we see that it is not so easy to leave what happened behind you, and to move on as if nothing happened. This week we see a breakdown of massive proportions by a person who in general doesn’t show emotion. And we see that the truth might set you free.

Things are changing for Liz Lemon. Not only is she in a relationship that’s not with a pretend astronaut, she’s also getting hit on by construction workers, and Jenna thinks she looks “like a pretty refugee on the news.” She also gets some big news: Jack and Avery are expecting a son. Kenneth hides in the NBC offices, wearing a cape and doing his former job.

Tracy is hiding out in his dressing room, somehow trying to ensure that he doesn’t miss the birth of his third child. He was making French bread pizza during the first one, and forgot all about the second one. Well, Jack will at least have a better excuse.

Criminal Minds – Recap & Review – JJ

Criminal Minds
JJ

Original Air Date: Sep 29, 2010

JD – Staff Writer

This is the recap and review that I didn’t want to write. Actually, let me rephrase that. This is the recap and review I wish I didn’t have to write. The CBS Powers That Be made that an impossibility, though. The episode itself was good. Great, actually. I am sure I will appreciate it a lot more as time passes, but last night we lost JJ, and that makes it emotional for not only me, but most of the fans I know.

JJ has been with us since the very beginning, and it’s hard to see her go. That said, the episode was wonderfully written, and did a great job of reflecting how the fans felt. JJ was taken from us and nobody wanted that (including AJ Cook and, so it seems, the entire cast and crew of the show). By the same token, JJ was taken from the BAU, against her will and to the dismay of the entire BAU team. In my opinion, there’s no way this wasn’t an intentional comparison, and one that seems to make it clear how unhappy the people at Criminal Minds were about losing AJ. In that sense, Erica Messer, who wrote the episode, did right by the fans in validating our displeasure, almost saying “Yeah, we don’t think this is right either”.

But while there was a focus on JJ, there was a case to solve too. So let’s get on with the recap.

Most of us have been there. We’ve either been the young kid leaving for college or the mom watching their kids leave. Either way, you go through something. Whether you’re the kid wanting your last night of freedom or you’re the parent wanting to hold on to every last memory, there’s a process.

And this week, Jules will finally have to let go of Travis. He’s finally leaving for college. He’s finally moving … a whole twenty minutes away. But for Jules, it’s an eternity. How will she cope? Besides with her BFFL Big Joe (and Ellie, of course) and her Graysonship?
