Tom Brokaw – Bridging The Divide

Tom Brokaw

Tom Brokaw Presents- Bridging the Divide

Tonight, Friday Dec. 10, 2010 at 7pm on USA Network, Tom Brokaw will be hosting a one-hour special that looks to where our increasingly diverse country really stands on a range of civil rights issues. He will be covering racism, gay rights, access for people with disabilities, bullying among kids and discrimination towards immigrants in our country.

A poll finds that our country has a lot of anxiety and dissatisfaction with the direction of the country. A fair amount of this breaks down to racial lines. We learn that a vast majority of Americans feel there is far too much political division and disunity in this country. The people who have seen the broadcast are impressed and startled at the results.

Dear TV Claus…

Hi gang! Happy Holidays to you all! For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. A powerful being who transcends all beliefs to bring us the wonderment of good television. You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TVClaus,

I know I moved to a den of inequity here in New Orleans, but I promise I’ve been as good as I can. I even have cable now!

1) Make Glee stop using AutoTune, the point of hiring talent that can sing is that you don’t need to over-correct them.

2) Pick up Supernatural for Season 7 (and give the writers something nice so they give our boys their personalities back).

3) Move The Big Bang Theory back to the Monday night line-up so I can watch it live.

4) Give Jason Dohring a new show, and make Gale Harold the star of something really good (cause I just can’t watch Hellcats).

Love and Kisses,
Rachel M

Bones – Recap & Review – The Doctor In The Photo

The Doctor in the Photo

Original Air Date: Dec 8, 2010

Karen – Sr Staff Writer

I must admit that I was pretty anxious to see this episode after reading all the hoopla about it on my Twitter feed. I knew this episode was going to be about Bonesy seeing herself in the case of the doctor that died and nobody in her life to really care. But it was much more than just that. We were able to see her recognize the feelings and emotions that she has spent her life ignoring or bottled up, let loose and free as she becomes re-born if you will.

30 Rock
Christmas Attack Zone

Original Air Date: Dec 9, 2010

Laura Kelley – Associate Staff Writer
laurakelley@thetwocentscorp.com

Christmas is here at TGS, and this year Liz is determined to avoid drama by going to dinner at Jack’s and showing up at her family’s for presents only. Of course, everything blows up in her face, because Jack’s mom is in town and finds out about the baby. Jack has plans of his own for Colleen, and he invites his father Milton over for a Christmas attack. If there’s anything to be learned from this episode, it’s that holidays are best enjoyed when familial disputes are escalated to the level of an actual war.

Meg – Sr. Reviewer

In honor of Community’s stop-motion Christmas spectacular, I have composed a short song (to the tune of “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”).

Abed the clay-faced student
had a small psychotic break.
And all the friends who saw him
Tried to tell him it was fake.

Criminal Minds – Recap & Review – What Happens At Home

Criminal Minds
What Happens At Home

Original Air Date: Dec 8, 2010

JD – Staff Writer
jd@thetwocentscorp.com

In case you missed it (how could you, if you’re an avid follower of the show?!), news has been buzzing around Criminal Minds again. This time, I’m not as bothered as I was over the summer, especially after seeing Wednesday’s episode. This week we meet the new girl coming on to the cast, Agent Ashley Seaver (played by Rachel Nichols), which is part of the news. The other part is that CBS, apparently, realized their summer casting decisions were stupid and offered Paget Brewster her full contract back.

She didn’t take it, though that may not be the last nail in the coffin. She kept the original offer, as it allows her to do a pilot while working on Criminal Minds, apparently keeping her options open. CBS and the fans are now waiting on her next move. I kinda like that. At least now if she leaves, it’ll be on her own terms, not CBS’s. Not that I want her to leave. If I could stand on a box and shout it all the way to L.A., I would. But you get my point, right? Anyway, on to the show…

Cougar Town
The Same Old You

Original Air Date: Dec 8, 2010

Farrah Kaye – Sr. Editor
farrah@thetwocentscorp.com

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any of the gang at work (remember, some of them do actually have jobs!). We also haven’t seen a good Ellie battle in a while. Well, we’re in for a treat tonight. Thanks to the writers for not going into Christmas mode like the other shows, we get a totally random episode about Jules wanting to help Bobby. And what makes Travis and Laurie think about becoming a couple?

Find out all that and more on All I Want For Christmas Is A New Title … Cougar Town. (I love it!)
