“Smallville” Wraps Up Ten-Year Run With Two Hour Series Finale Event

smallville is saying goodbye

The CW will present the series finale of SMALLVILLE as an epic two-hour television event on Friday, May 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

The story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his journey to become the Man of Steel has captivated audiences for a decade. This final season, Clark attempts to find a balance between saving the world, which becomes even more difficult as the Vigilante Registration Act separates a nation, and spending time with his new fiancée Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Whether it’s donning glasses as a disguise, changing in a phone booth or learning how to fly, this season has put Clark closer to his destiny than ever before. Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.

“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”

Please note SUPERNATURAL will be pre-empted on May 13 but will return with a two-hour season finale on Friday, May 20 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

Forget about the Superbowl halftime show, here comes Glee Club! For those of us who are less than sports-inclined, most sporting events can be judged by the quality of their halftime shows.

The Glee Club certainly brought it to McKinley High’s football championship, doing a mash-up of the most cool and uncool school extracurricular activities and somehow coming together to save the day.

TTC Weekly Picks Feb 7 – Feb 13

ttc weekly picks

February 7 – February 13
Ryan O – Senior Reviewer
ryano@thetwocentscorp.com

Every week, the staff at TheTwoCents will be posting their top picks for viewing. They won’t always be the top shows of the week, but the programs that each writer is most looking forward to checking out that week. I’ve listed the shows in chronological order.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back here to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Monday, February 7 – 9:00PM ET – Fox – The Chicago Code– This is the series premiere for this show. It stars Jennifer Beals (yes, the one from Flashdance) and Jason Clarke (Brotherhood) with Shawn Ryan (Terriers, Lie to Me, and The Shield) producing the show. The show follows Beals’ character, the police superintendent in Chicago, as she works to clean up corruption. The reviews for the show have been very good, which is no surprise since it’s from Shawn Ryan.

Two Cents & Five Questions with David Lyons (The Cape)

photo: nbc

David Lyons, Actor

What can I say, I’m a lucky girl. (PS- if you want to be lucky like me you should become a writer for TheTwoCents.com! Just saying!). Last week I got to talk to James Frain and Summer Glau from The Cape, and this week it was the show’s star David Lyons, who has a lovely Aussie accent and is incredibly nice. His character of Vince Faraday is complex and bit moody though. On to the questions!

TheTwoCents: Just curious to know what attracted you to this type of material in the first place? Are you a Sci-Fi or comic book fan at all?

Big Love – Recap & Review – The Oath

Big Love
The Oath

Original Air Date: Feb 06, 2011

Thomas Nikl – Staff Writer

Bill faces more and more opposition in at the capital, his family life is falling apart (as usual…) with Barb the drunk, Margie the drama queen who, oh by the way, married Bill when she was under-age, Nicki the over-protective parent to Caroline who just found out her Dad is dead. And of course Albie is always in the mix making trouble for everyone and everything. It should be an interesting episode, as always, to see how Bill solves on problem only to create three more.

Damon. Naked. In the shower. I think some other stuff happened. But let’s focus on what’s important: Naked Damon. Showering. Sigh… *fans self*

Okay, back on track now. So, every relationship has problems. Sometimes there’s no chemistry. Or maybe he’s just not that into you. And sometimes, well, his evil werewolf brethren stick you in a cage and pump you full of bullets.

Two Cents & Five Questions With Jennifer Beals (The Chicago Code)

beals

Jennifer Beals, Actress

On Monday, February 7, Fox launched the series premiere episode of Chicago Code with Jennifer Beals.
In the series premiere episode, Teresa Colvin, the city’s first female superintendent, lobbies for a city corruption task force to investigate Alderman Ronin Gibbons, a building-magnate-turned-politician.
I am sure a lot of you remember Jennifer from the movie Flashdance in the 80’s. She also starred in the series The L Word. She was a bit late in starting the interview because she was behind someone stuck in the snow. When the distressed woman stated she was waiting for a man to help her, Jennifer said; “Sweetheart, if you are waiting for a man to help you, you might be waiting for a long time. Let’s see if we can figure this out.” Right away, I knew I liked this woman!

TheTwoCents: What was it about this part that made you want to return to series television?

So William Bell was looking for copies of The First People, too. Huh. Nina goes to his office for a little looksie and past the shelf complete with a book from Dr. Spock is his safe. Inside is a toy car, photos of William, Walter, and herself, and a copy of The First People. The plot thickens.

Meanwhile, Dr. Warren Blake, a scientist working in an R&D department, received a birthday present from someone named Madison. It is a doll that laughs and then shoots a blue powder at him… which causes his bones to disintegrate. Not a cool way to die.

CSI: NY – Recap & Review – Party Down

CSI: NY
Party Down

Original Air Date: Feb 4, 2011

Maria – TwoCents Reviewer
maria@thetwocentscorp.com

We start, as many CSI:NY episodes seem to, amongst a scene of pretty people partying. It may look like they’re dancing at a club but, nope, they’re dancing in a truck. The truck is obviously supposed to be stationary but, nope, it ends up crashing into the water. So many people in such an enclosed space, it’s surprising there are only two dead bodies. “Make that three,” Mac replies as they see another dead body still trapped inside the truck.
