Desperate Housewives
Farewell Letter

Original Air Date: Feb 20, 2011

Annette – Associate Staff Writer

Not a lot has changed on Wisteria Lane this week.  Gaby is still in therapy and trying to deal with her demons; Bree is dealing with the fallout from keeping Keith’s son a secret; Lynette has the usual Scavo family drama; and Susan still needs a kidney.

But since this episode is all about saying goodbye (goodbye to lovers, goodbye to kids and goodbye to demons of the past), maybe some housewives will get closure and be able to move on.

TTC Weekly Picks Feb 21 – Feb 27

ttc weekly picks

February 14 – February 20
Theresa – Staff Writer
theresa@thetwocentscorp.com

Every week, the staff at TheTwoCents will be posting their top picks for viewing. They won’t always be the top shows of the week, but the programs that each writer is most looking forward to checking out that week.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back here to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Friday, February 25 – 10:30PM ET – IFC – Portlandia
I’m fairly sure that IFC doesn’t have a single show I don’t like, and Portlandia is just the latest. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein do a great job keeping a straight face in this more cerebral sketch show that lovingly rips on the liberal, hipster population of Portland, Oregon. And Kyle MacLachlan (who guest stars as the mayor) is just a bonus for me. Even though there are some recurring characters, you don’t need to have been watching to jump in – and I dare you not to want to move to Portland after watching it.

It feels like just yesterday we finished season 17 of The Amazing Race. And now, here we are, with The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. It’s an all-star race of sorts, made up of pairs who never won the race (think Top Chef: All Stars with a longer name).

The teams are random. Some I remember, some I don’t. Some know each other, some don’t. The one thing they have in common: They all know how to run the race. So with that, I give you …

It’s a problem all couples have. You meet a girl, you fall in love – you have the dinner date, the movie date, but—which is the date where you tell her you kinda sorta ate her family?

Fringe – Recap & Review – 6B

Fringe
6B

Original Air Date: Feb 18, 2011

Rachel – Sr. Managing Editor
rachel@thetwocentscorp.com

Ah, a haunted pre-war building in New York City. Very Ghostbusters, although I don’t think Zeul is behind this one. At a sweet little dinner party in an apartment on the seventh floor, lights flicker, blenders start on their own, general poltergeist activity. That is until several people fall to their deaths.

Meanwhile, Walter really wants Peter and Olivia to get “back” together even though technically they have never “been” together. He invites Olivia to the house where things become even more awkward then they already are. She is still having a very hard time. She feels like Fauxlivia destroyed any future Olivia had with Peter. She also knows that Peter still thinks about her. He tells her that yes, he still thinks about her but only because he had wanted to be with Olivia for so long. His feelings were for Olivia even though it was Fauxlivia’s body. He also tells her that she is the one keeping them apart now. Luckily, Broyles interrupts the confrontation with a call about the very Fringe-y occurrence in New York.

Blue Bloods
Dedication

Farrah Kaye – Sr. Editor
farrah@thetwocentscorp.com

Every two weeks, we get a mention of Joe, the Reagan we’ve never met. This week Joe gets his mention, but not because of Jamie’s hunt for his killers.

His alma mater, John Jay College, is dedicating some room to him and Frank is all excited. After meeting with all his old buddies, something tragic happens and as usual, the life of Joe takes a back seat. But also as usual, the entire Reagan family is on the case.

CSI: NY – Recap & Review – Vigilante

Maria – Sr. Reviewer

We open on pole-dancing. It’s a gym and the women there are just trying to keep fit and healthy. I find the fact that CSI: NY chose to show such an erotic activity a little off-putting. There’s a creepy looking guy outside, waiting in the shadows.

The camera cuts between the creepy looking guy and a woman working out, Heather Marist. As she leaves, there’s a masculine voice over of a phone call, describing a crime, a murder, that’s about to happen. The CSIs turn up… to find that Creepy Guy is the victim.

Alyssa Silva – TwoCents Reviewer

This episode wasn’t scary. To quote Dean, it was just freakin’ creepy. The show dug deep to unearth a paranormal entity that has struck fear in all our beating hearts – dolls. Not the justifiably creep-worthy little girl dolls, with their bonnets and fake curly hair. These dolls are the ones you pass by at the mall, all stiff, white and ready to stab you in the gut with a rebar. Did I mention Metallicar suffers a fatal injury?

Read on after the jump!

The Way We Get By (Part One)

Original Air Date: Feb 18, 2011

Farrah Kaye – Sr. Editor

Remember being the fifth wheel in high school when your friends coupled up? It’s a horrible feeling watching your friends hold hands during movie night and you are sticking your hands in the popcorn bowl.

In tonight’s episode, Drew discovers that lonely feeling when he realizes his friends are all coupled up so he decides to find a girlfriend, while Riley gets a makeover for his big night out with Zane and Alli is finally back (not at Degrassi but we do get to see where she goes to school).
