Phyllis has been listening to Fifty Shades of Gray on audiobook on an iPod. The staff wants Phyllis fired because she’s acting inappropriately. Dwight takes matters into his own hands and dumps a bucket of water on her head. Andy asks for his iPod back and gets the same treatment after he starts listening to the book as well.

I really wish this book would go away.

Herstory of Dance

Dean walks in the study room dressed as black and white Donna Reed. He’s throwing a Sadie Hawkins dance (to deflect attention from the CDC’s confiscation of the Greendale water fountains), which of course, Britta has a problem with this so she’s throwing a protest dance. Britta declares it’ll be a Sophie B. Hawkins dance, after all her feminist accomplishments. Annie thinks Britta means Susan B. Anthony, but Britta won’t admit her mistake and continues on with the idea.

Oh yeah, this dance is totally getting Britta’d.  Can’t wait.

During the opening group number of Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” all I could think of was how lucky for Lazaro that it was prerecorded. But I still wondered if someone was just off stage cuing him to at least come in when his section of the recording started. But I was surprised that the performance overall wasn’t that bad.

Go figure, huh?

The new revised Ford Fiesta commercial, now a “mission” had the contestants at a fashion photo shoot where they created looks inspired by their own idols. Yawn.

This is it, loft trolls—the moment we’ve all been waiting for. NICK AND JESS ARE GOING ON A DATE. But is it really a date if only one person knows what’s happening? And is Winston and Schmidt’s bromance really a bromance? If only relationships came as neatly labeled as the jars in that loft.

Labels are the name of the game tonight, as Nick and Jess can’t even figure out what to call their dinner, much less their relationship. Is it a date? Nick sure seems to think so. He even goes to Tran for advice, concluding that he should just tell Jess that he thinks she’s beautiful, he’s better for knowing her, and it would mean the world to him if they could go on a date. Nick Miller is America’s new TV boyfriend, and I do not hate it.

Subtly has never been Grey’s strongest attribute. Patient conditions usually mirror something going on in a doctor’s personal life. Meredith’s voice overs are seldom cloaked in anything less than the obvious. But tonight’s song title lyric is just… well… blatant, isn’t it?

We’ve only got four episodes left this season, and after tonight’s hour there’s a three week window until we visit Seattle again. And with Meredith/Derek, Cristina/Owen, and Bailey, you can see where the action is headed. But the other characters seem to be largely in limbo. So in addition to giving your feedback on what has happened, share with me below what you would like to see happen!

Farewell…Roger Ebert

ebert

ebert

Roger Ebert, Movie Critic

Roger Ebert, who reviewed movies for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years and on TV for 31 years, died today after a long battle with cancer. He was 70.

Ebert began his TV career in 1975 opposite Chicago Tribune movie critic Gene Siskel with “Opening Soon at a Theater Near You” that aired on local Chicago channel WTTW. In 1978, the show was retitled “Sneak Previews” and morphed into a PBS series for national distribution. In 1981, the program was renamed “At the Movies,” later becoming “Siskel & Ebert & The Movies” in 1986 where the duo began the signature “thumbs up, thumbs down.” After the 1999 death of Siskel, the show became “Ebert & Roeper” in 2000.

On Tuesday, Ebert wrote an online column telling readers he was taking “a leave of presence” from his hectic schedule of writing after learning that a “painful fracture” he suffered in December had turned out to be cancer. He celebrated his 46th year at the Chicago Sun-Times April 3.

He is survived by his wife, two stepchildren and four grandchildren.

Mr. Ebert, you will be missed.

Here are the reasons Idol should immediately stop having duets and trios on performance nights:

  • They suck.
  • They give the contestants more to learn.
  • They suck.

The multiple performances bothered me especially with this week’s theme, “Classics from Rock ‘n Roll” because none of the remaining seven contestants are really rock singers. And it really showed.

Just like Whitney belted out in “Greatest Love of All,” children are our future. We put our hopes and faith in these little buggers – let’s pray they’ll take care of things better than we have.

At the Dunphy household, Haley wants to quit her job because it’s boring (welcome to life, child), Alex is continuing her nerd-dom and Luke is continuing his mad scientist lifestyle. Claire doesn’t agree with her children’s choices while Phil finds nothing is wrong. All will have to wait because Claire has to go in for an angiogram – a precautionary test.
