Misunderstandings are the cornerstone of the television sitcom. If done correctly, they can become part of common dialogue. Who amongst us doesn’t recognize “We were on a break!” or “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”. Well, tonight I present, for your consideration “Happy Valen-birth-iversary!”

Claire and Phil aren’t on the same page. Jay and Gloria aren’t singing the same tune. Alex has Haley’s number. Mitchell has let Cam down. And Luke and Manny are along for the ride…

TwoCents & Five Questions With Timothy Olyphant (Justified)

photo: fx

Raylan Givens, the essence of cool, calm, and collected… but not the first person that comes to mind when thinking of a fascinating interview subject. It’s a good thing that Timothy Olyphant isn’t Raylan Givens, his character on FX’s Justified.

We recently had a chance to talk to Mr. Olyphant about the new season of this modern-day western, and what’s in store for everyone’s favorite poster boy of the strong, silent type.

TheTwoCents: I know you picked up a producer credit for this season. What made you want to get involved on that level, and how much behind the scenes are you involved?

We begin this week again directly after the elimination of Jay. Ali brings in the black team and announces that not only will the losing team vote someone off, but there will also be a red line. Therefore, two people will go home.

Everyone is understandably terrified of the red line. From the previews, it sure like it could be either Jesse or Deni.

We open on a guy in a bear suit, riding a unicycle and juggling. A man comments that “everyone has an angle” just before it’s revealed to the audience that his angle is pickpocketing. The man pickpockets an expensive looking purse and from there, he promptly bumps into a police officer. The pickpocket tries to argue that it’s his purse and he didn’t steal it… right up until it’s revealed that the purse is full of severed fingers and teeth.

It’s not a good day for McGee. Firstly, Gibbs’ computer isn’t working and Tim is having troubles fixing it whilst Gibbs hits it with a baseball bat; then he has to confirm the severed fingers belong to a Corporal Armstrong; he traces the body back to a morgue where Ducky is able to determine the cause of death and being stretch at least six inches; and when McGee returns the office, there’s a guy called Blake Martin who is there to investigate all the hacking McGee does. McGee tries to blame it on a virus.

This week we have a face from the past, revenge, kidnapping (or should I say “suitnapping”) and a focus on relationships. In other words, it’s business as usual on White Collar. Everyone is involved and it’s a great episode.

Let’s get started, shall we?

This episode of The Middle was different but in a good way. Sue has won a contest (how she accomplished that, nobody knows) and has won a trip to New York. The trip seems to come at a good time when the whole Heck family has a case of cabin fever.

Poor Alicia. She hardly had anything to do in this episode. Instead we got Eli and Diane in what could have been a Valentine’s Day special (but not with each other – eewwww).

We know the minute we see Kurt McVeigh, the ballistics experts that Diane is nuts about, that Diane isn’t going to be able to concentrate. Boy howdy, she can’t even concentrate when he’s outside her office. In fact, these two get quite steamy. Not the way that you normally think of cool, calculated Diane, huh?

Sorry for the odd format this week. As with the lives of our favorite cops, my life is ever-changing as well. Before I forget – go find a Save SouthLAnd petition!!! This is episode 8 of 10 so we’re getting close to the end. There’s a Facebook petition, websites, the SaveSoutLAnd twitter account and more. Find a way!

This week we will see more of Sammy’s emotional breakdown, learn more about John’s past and find out what happens when Lydia and Josie team together to help a witness.
